What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company? Chapter 995: There’s A Good Player Here
Previously on What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?...
While I might have dealt with the three players who tried to jump me, there were still other people around the tower at the moment.
As if to prove my point, the sounds of gunshots could be heard coming from the floors below me as different parties started attacking each other with whatever weapons they found.
I looked around for a better weapon that wasn’t just a pistol which I have come to learn had pretty low stats in the damage department.
Unfortunately, it seems I have now learned why there were no other teams who have chosen to land here... Because there was barely any other loot up here and the only thing I found aside from the fist pistol was this little dagger with an energy blade that was barely as long as my forearm.
Yeah... Not great at all...
And I only have two magazines for the pistol after dealing with the trio from earlier, having needed to expand two mags just to take them out.
Almost half a magazine per person, assuming that the target had no shields or armour and just let me hit all my shots, meant I could only deal with four more people before I’m fucked.
I looked around the rest of the room and found a set of stairs leading down to the lower floors of the tower, right where the majority of the gunshots were coming from.
Oh well... I guess even if I were to lose this match, I won’t lose anything anyway...
I did a quick check of my pistol before holding the dagger in a reverse grip in my left hand to support my right hand on top of my left wrist.
With my pistol pointed at the stairway, I advanced forwards cautiously, finding that the stairs descended counter clockwise in a circular pattern with a main pillar to my left.
I held my weapons steady, taking one step at a time as I descended the steps.
Right as I was thinking to myself that I was being unnecessarily cautious, the thunder of footsteps coming up the stairs could be heard from a few flights down.
I decided to switch my grip, moving the pistol to my left hand while holding my dagger in an overhand grip in my right while using the pillar to hide myself from line of sight.
With how narrow the stairway was, I should be able to get within stabbing range before they can react.
Sure enough, the first guy rounded the corner carrying a rifle which he was holding with its barrel pointed to the side.
I was already in his guard so even if he tried to swing his gun towards me, he wouldn’t have enough space to move the muzzle of the rifle in between us.
I didn’t hesitate, moving forward to bury my knife into his neck though I wasn’t sure if that was enough to kill him since it might only cut down some of his virtual health bar.
Thus, I went ahead to shoot him in the chest twice with the pistol just for good measure before using him as a shield to point my pistol behind him from over his shoulder.
One other guy came running up and his eyes widened when he saw me holding who I assumed was his comrade. This guy was also armed with a melee weapon except his was an energy sword he was holding in his right hand.
I immediately squeezed the trigger several times, firing as quickly as I could at him.
Unfortunately for me, it seems like this guy found a personal shield and a blue bubble appeared in front of him to absorb my bullets, protecting him from harm.
He furrowed his brows and charged at me, prompting me to push the guy I had stabbed in the neck at him.
It seems like my attacks have indeed managed to drop his health to zero as he was already in a ’downed’ state so his body flew forward and smacked into the sword guy.
I was hoping that would send the sword guy tumbling down the steps but he managed to push off his teammate after only stumbling back a step and was already charging towards me with an angry roar.
I squeezed off a few more shots but his stupid shield was still in the way so I gave up on the pistol and focused on my dagger instead.
He raised his sword and swung...
And then his arm stopped because his sword hit the central pillar and got deflected away.
Dumbass.
I leapt towards him and stabbed my dagger towards his side, which seemed to bypass the shield completely and bury into his flesh.
Since I couldn’t see any health bars, I just went ahead to stab him a few more times until he suddenly disappeared into particles of light.
Looks like this group only had two people... Or they already lost one guy.
I went ahead to pick up the shield and the sword he dropped, adding them to my list of equipment.
I then made sure to reload the pistol before holstering it, intending to pick up the rifle that the first guy dropped to make it my main weapon.
Unfortunately, the guy’s dead body seemed to have rolled quite far down the stairs so I had to descend quite far before I found the rifle lying at the landing.
As I approached it, I heard someone shouting and I looked up, only to see what looked like a few players that were in the middle of a gunfight hiding behind some scattered equipment in the middle of the hall.
That would have been normal if it weren’t for the fact that they were not fighting each other but... They were all targeting a single guy.
I watched as the guy somersaulted through the air, using a rifle that he accurately fired a burst of three rounds at one of his targets while he was still midair and upside down.
All three shots landed on his target’s head and that was enough damage to down the guy, his avatar falling to the floor and left to crawl around waiting for his teammates to revive him or perish as well.
I watched the guy land on top of a box, doing another flip which allowed him to dodge another hail of bullets before it could even get to him, spinning himself upside down again to shoot at another target that was peeking out behind an overturned table.
His shield managed to protect him and he immediately ducked before it could shatter and leave him vulnerable.
Unfortunately for him, that was a bad choice to make because he didn’t get to see the grenade lobbed after him, the explosive sailing through the air to land behind the table before exploding and taking him out.
Four guys were left as he landed behind a pair, one of them in the midst of reloading while the other was trying to spin around to aim at the lone player.
The guy simply kicked his foot back, smacking his heel against the barrel of the rifle and letting it discharge into the air instead.
With one foot still up in the air to hold his opponent’s gun pointed upwards, he levelled his own rifle to press the muzzle against the bottom of that guy’s chin and squeezed the trigger.
The guy was quickly downed without being able to react while the solo player tossed his empty rifle at the guy who just managed to finish reloading.
The rifle smacked him in the face, causing him to flinch in surprise even though it seemed to only do a little bit of damage virtually, which gave the solo player all the time he needed to close the distance and stab him with the same dagger I had in the chest several times.
Both of those players then disappeared into particles of light, leaving the other two players who were trying to flank the solo player on either side.
The solo player looted the newly reloaded gun the other guy just dropped and charged towards one side, appearing right around the corner before one of the surviving players could turn and shoved the gun towards his neck.
There was a scream coming from the player avatar as the solo player fired into his neck mercilessly, downing that player as well.
The last survivor let out a battle cry before running towards the solo player, a shotgun in his hands.
He tried to fire off a shot but... Well... It’s a buckshot shotgun so the weapon did minimal damage to the solo player as his shield materialised to tank the hits.
On the other hand, the solo player lowered into a half crouch and accurately nailed all his shots on the other player, breaking his shield and finishing him off with a few well placed head shots.
This guy’s a pretty good player huh? I wonder--
He levelled his gun in my direction and fired, forcing me to leap out of the way to duck behind the wall.
Ah shit!! I forgot I’m also his enemy right now!!
