What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company? Chapter 963: A Drop To The Heart Of The Nest

I was panicking slightly as my first thought was to try and physically catch all of my girls before they could fall too far.

But as I dove towards them, I felt a Psionic force spread out around the area and all of my girls started to slow down their fall.

I turned back to see Mara with her hands outstretched, no doubt using her telekinesis to slow down their descent.

Oh right... I forgot I didn’t need to physically catch them when I could just use my telekinesis instead... I should remember that and use it more often...

Our descent slowed down to a stop and I took a moment to check with everyone.

"Is everyone alright?!"

"Ugghh... That was not nice... I’m alright, Boss!"

"... Same, Mistress."

"I am alright as well, Mistress."

"Perfectly fine, Daddy!"

"Woof! Woof!"

Amber floated beside me, "Mmm~ Of course I’m ok, Tera~ Ehehehe~"

Mara also floated beside her, giving me a pointed look, "Captain..."

I didn’t know what she was trying to tell me until I noticed Freyja dog paddling in the air like she was trying to swim over to me.

Ah... Really? She doesn’t even want to hold Freyja with her telekinesis?

I guess she’s just really scared of her...

I nodded and extended my own senses towards Freyja and took over in floating her in the air.

I felt Mara let go of her control and I pulled Freyja over to me, allowing her to hop onto my shoulders and cling onto me from behind.

She let out a cute bark, as though content of her current position on top of my shoulders. She even gave my face a lick before she rested her head on top of mine.

I looked up at the hole above, "Should we fly up?"

Amber looked down instead, "It seems like this would lead us deeper into the nest, so we might as well just use this route, right?"

I guess that makes sense... Why should we go back up to take the long way down when we have a shortcut opened for us, right?

I looked down at the fall that led all the way down, the soft glow of the Prisma crystals visible even at this height.

We could also see the shadows of the insects skittering below as well.

But right as I thought of that, a surge of them suddenly started crawling up the tunnel, the skittering of their feet echoing around the tunnel we were floating in.

Tsk... I’m guessing this was meant to be a trap that the bugs set up which we triggered, but the trap ended up failing since we could fly.

The fact that these bugs were even able to set up a trap was honestly a little concerning but right now, we still have a wave of bugs to clear.

Or... That would be what I would say if Amber didn’t just unleash an entire jet of flames that shot towards the bugs and incinerated all of them that had been unfortunate enough to be in that tunnel.

I was worried that the heat from the flames would end up rising back into this little chimney we’re stuck in and cook us alive anyway but fortunately, Amber managed to control the direction of the heat as well so we did not get cooked.

She kept her flames going as we descended down towards the lower level, her flames ensuring that no bugs could reach us.

When we appeared outside of the tunnel in a sea of flames, I realised that we had arrived at the top of a giant cavern that was in the shape of a spiral leading all the way down into the depths.

This was definitely the heart of the bug colony.

More of those bugs were climbing out from the depths of the spiral, trying to overwhelm us with their numbers despite the fact that Amber’s flames were still burning through their hordes and turning them into ash.

The bugs here were quite literally just running straight into the fire without trying to avoid it... Do they really have no sense of self preservation at all?

Nevertheless... We can’t just keep relying on Amber to keep them at bay since she would only be able to hold them back but not advance through the horde if she had to concentrate on keeping the fire up in a large area.

Mara and I rose up into the air and took a direction each to start crushing those bugs indiscriminately, freeing Amber from needing to keep the fire burning around us.

The rest of my girls also followed suit by firing their weapons, gunning down the bugs that managed to slip through and making sure none of the mutated bugs could reach any of us.

Freyja continued to cling to my back, seemingly content to stay there for now which I had no problems with, preferring her to be safely on my back instead of running through a battlefield.

As we advanced towards the depths of the cavern, a roar came from one of the tunnels before a large centipede looking creature came bursting out from the tunnels.

It completely ignored the other bugs and crawled up the ceiling to start making its way towards us.

I would have thought that was this nest’s queen if it weren’t for the fact that it came from a different tunnel instead of coming from below the cavern.

I’m quite sure the Queen is down there and not somewhere else, especially when most of the bugs were crawling out from the bottom of the cavern so most of the eggs must be down there.

I let loose another wave of Psionic force, blasting the bugs in front of my flying back and smashing into their own comrades to clear some space for us as the giant centipede bug continued its advance on the ceiling.

I was going to call out to Amber to deal with it but Renata hopped forward to call out to me from below.

"Daddyyyyy~ Can I eat that?" She asked, pointing at the giant centipede.

...

"You know what? Yeah, sure. Go for it."

She let out a cute squeal before she let her tentacles explode out from her back to leap towards the centipede, crashing herself on its back and splattering herself like a liquid.

At first, the centipede completely ignored her as it probably thought some kind of liquid had been splashed on it and it did not hinder its movements... Only for it to suddenly let out a screech of pain before it started writhing around as Renata started spreading herself out to start consuming the centipede.

The centipede ended up falling from the ceiling and dropping down on top of its brethren, crushing a good number of it with its large body as it rolled around trying to get rid of Renata.

Unfortunately for it, Renata stuck to it like glue and just continued to wrap herself around it, completely unhindered by the centipede’s actions.

It then let out a shriek as the black slime reached its head, its shrieks suddenly being cut out when it was completely wrapped up.

Some bugs tried charging at the Renata wrapped centipede but any bugs that touched her ended up getting pulled in and consumed as well.

The centipede then started shrinking in size as Renata consumed the creature, pulling in any other bug that dared to get close to consume them too.

I left her to deal with that as I made the heads of another group of bugs pop before using their corpses as improvised projectiles to shoot at the other bugs, smashing through swathes of them with the improvised artillery strikes.

The cavern shook again and several more of those large centipede bugs burst out from the ground, three of them lunging towards Amber, Mara and I from below.

I guess they realised we were the biggest threat and wanted to take us out first.

Amber simply burned the one targeting her into ash while Mara sent the one after her flying away, using it as an improvised whip to smash its head against another of those centipede bugs.

As for me... I seized the one targeting me with my Psionic force and twisted it like I was wringing a wet towel.

The centipede ended up twisting itself to death as its blood and entrails were squeezed out from its body and I used its dried up carcass to shoot it at another centipede, piercing through its head and killing it.

I assume these centipedes were most likely the honour guards of this nest’s Queen which also meant that if it was being sent out to intercept us, we must be getting really close to the Queen at this point.

No need to hold back now, everyone~ Just a little bit more and we should be in the heart of their nest where we can get ourselves another billion Credits as payment~
