What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company? Chapter 957: There’s A Queen
Previously on What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?...
If Amber was here... She could just burn the entire place down...
And unfortunately... She isn’t here right now so we can’t burn this entire place down. Which means we have to do it the hard way.
And by the hard way... I mean we have to get down and dirty here.
I reached out my senses towards all the egg sacs that were in the room, wrapping them all with my Psionic force and making sure I got all of them wrapped up in it before clenching my fist, crushing all of them with a loud splat.
I then turned my attention to the birthing containers and did the same as well, crushing the egg laying bugs within them.
Of course, I have the option of just causing a cave in and letting the falling rocks crush the eggs and everything but... I’ve seen enough movies where somehow or another, there would be one or two of those things that survived somehow and then it would start a season two of the things propagating again.
So I would rather be thorough and cleanse all of them personally than just leave it to chance.
Doing another sweep of the room, I made sure all of them were indeed completely crushed before Renata suddenly jumped out and spread herself all over the cavern, swallowing them up into her body.
You know... You could have just done that first so I didn’t need to crush everything, Renata...
Oh whatever, I guess it was still more satisfying to watch those egg sacs pop when I crushed them.
When the entire cavern full of the eggs had been consumed by Renata, a low roar came from within the chasm that shook even the cavern we were standing in.
I guess the bugs really did have some kind of leader and whoever that leader was did not take kindly to the fact that I just destroyed one of its incubation caverns or whatever this place is called.
There was another rumble that came from the chasm and I flew out to see an entire tsunami of bugs climbing up the side of the wall and heading directly towards us.
I turned back and looked at the dogs who were still laying around and waiting for me, all of them acting like nothing big was happening.
Right... Umm... We’re pretty close to the edge of the chasm and I’m very sure even with all the supposed abilities and how strong they were, they probably can’t survive a fall that high.
I pointed back at the tunnel we came from, "Go! Go back!"
The dogs perked up and only needed a short moment to process what I said before they were running back up the corridor and into the larger tunnel.
I did not follow them.
Instead, I flew out above the chasm and focused my senses at the walls, intending to tear out chunks of it to create an avalanche to try and crush as many of the bugs as I could before they could climb all the way up.
As I was trying to exert my Psionic force over the wall however, I saw blue flashes of light coming from below and I realised it was those bulbous bugs shooting those blue balls of fire at me.
Well... If you’re going to give me the ammunition... Then don’t mind if I use it~
I extended my hands towards the balls and redirected them towards the horde of bugs instead, letting it explode in their midst and blowing a good chunk of them up.
They tried to shoot a few more of those things at me and I just redirected them back into the horde to blow them all up.
But even with all my efforts, they were still gaining ground with just how many of them there were climbing up the cliff face.
Right then, I noticed another flash and I suddenly felt something smash against me from below, sending me flying up towards the ceiling of the cavern.
It didn’t hurt thanks to Renata absorbing the impact for me, even when I crashed into the ceiling with a loud thud.
I looked down to see another one of those humanoid looking bugs, this one being similar to the one that I saw outside the tunnel entrance that could move blindingly fast.
I was going to hold it in place with my telekinesis again but it suddenly disappeared from my view, as though it knew it could not stay within sight or I would be able to rip its head off.
They really are functioning on a hive mind I see... And they’re able to learn from their past brethrens’ mistakes in order to improve themselves and adapt.
I wonder if it’s possible that the longer we fight them, the more powerful they would grow until they eventually could evolve and become strong enough to even fight against dogs?
Now that’s definitely a scary thought... Which means we really need to exterminate them all before they grow to that point.
I felt a presence beside me and I knew the bug was trying to rush at me from the side so I extended my telekinesis in that direction to form a wall that would stop anything coming from there.
As expected, the bug reappeared beside me, its arms outstretched in an attempt to try and skewer me with its claws only to be stuck frozen in midair a foot away from me.
I didn’t hesitate and crushed its head before letting its corpse drop back down towards the chasm.
Since I was pretty sure these bugs operated on a hivemind, I would probably be able to deal with all of them if I were to just cut off their head.
And by head, I mean their leader.
I flew back down to the dogs and pointed at them, "Hold your ground! Retreat if you have to! Do not risk any casualties!"
They barked in unison which I took as them acknowledging my order, allowing me to dive down towards the chasm and ignoring the horde of bugs still trying to climb up the cliff walls.
The bulbous bugs were still trying to shoot those blue fireballs at me so this time, instead of redirecting them to the horde, I sent them back towards the bulbous bugs instead, exploding them with their own blue fireballs and blasting them apart.
I dove down all the way to the bottom, the chasm barely being illuminated by the scattering of Prisma crystals that jutted out from the cliff face.
I almost ended up crashing into the ground if there hadn’t been a bug that tried to leap at me to chew on my face.
I slowed myself down and sliced that bug apart with my halberd before hovering in the air to look around.
The horde seemed to be coming from a specific direction so I started flying in that direction, making sure to keep myself at a height that allowed me to stay out of range of any bugs that might want to try and jump at me from below.
There were a few more of those scythe bugs and another one of those really fast bugs but all of them got crushed by my telekinesis before they could even get close to me.
I figured out I could just keep a telekinetic bubble around me that would stop any big objects and they would just freeze in place when they touched it, allowing me to just pop their heads.
At the end of the horde, I found what could only be described as a crystal cavern as the entire cave was filled with Prisma crystals that were shining so brightly that it felt like I had stepped outside and it was daytime.
All around the cavern were incubation tubes and egg sacs that seemed to keep spilling out at an accelerated pace with bugs popping out of their eggs almost every second.
And at the very centre of it was a pretty large bug that looked like a cross between an ant queen and a wasp with a large abdomen that was churning out eggs rapidly while it sat on top of a giant prisma outcropping.
It turned its head to regard me with its large compound eyes and by the way its mandibles seemed to be clacking rapidly, I think it was actually quite afraid.
As though only just noticing me, the horde suddenly turned back around and started trying to take me down, going so far as to use their own bodies to make a tower to try and reach me.
I wasn’t going to sit around wasting time so I just went ahead to reach out my telekinetic force towards what I assumed was the bug queen’s head and literally ripped it off its body.
The mandibles on the head clacked for a moment more before it went still and the entire gigantic body came crashing down on the cavern floor.
So... We win, right?
