What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company? Chapter 951: Dogs Vs Bugs Round Two
Previously on What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?...
I watched as the small army of five hundred dogs were gathered in front of me, all of them looking up at me in excitement as their tails wagged happily.
Alright, guess we’re going to war guys... But don’t worry! I will lead all of you!
As if reading my mind, all of the dogs let out a happy bark and rose up to their feet, ready to follow me.
I gave Nerissa a nod before pulling out my energy halberd, letting it form itself before the energy blade popped up at the ends to form the weapon.
I then turned and flew into the air, leading the dogs out through the gates as they chased after me to head towards the outer walls.
Some of the soldiers on the walls heard the sound of five hundred dogs running after me and turned back to see what was causing the noise, only to let out yelps of fear when they saw the mass of dogs running in their direction.
No doubt, these guys have been traumatised by the dogs in recent days when they had to witness them attacking their comrades or something.
Thankfully, they had the sense not to shoot at the dogs and merely ducked themselves to hide instead.
I ignored them and flew through the gates, leading the dogs after me to charge directly towards the horde of bugs that were still trying to swarm the walls.
The soldiers and turrets recognised me as a friendly unit and redirected their lines of fire, giving me a clear way to charge in and swing down my halberd in a wide sweep.
I watched as my weapon cleaved through the entire front portion of the bugs with effortless ease, the energy blade cutting through their bodies like a hot knife through butter.
I also extended my wings to let the laser turrets fly out and join the defense, letting them rain down lasers upon the bugs and eviscerating them with energy projectiles.
Then, as if on cue, the dogs behind me crashed into the bugs like a tidal wave.
Just like the first time, they smash into them like they were cardboard, the dogs crashing through the bugs and slashing out their claws to slice them apart while the bugs had literally no time to react to their assault.
In an instant, the tide of bugs was halted and quickly started to reverse as the dogs broke through the horde and started gaining ground.
The bugs still tried to press on despite how they were being slaughtered, none of them showing any signs of giving up.
I watched as a trio of those bugs attempted to jump on one of the dogs, as though trying to overwhelm her with their numbers.
But the dog just swiped her claws in the air and all three bugs were sliced apart before they even reached the apex of their jump.
Another tried to bite at one of the dogs with its mandibles as it got close to her but the dog went ahead to close its jaws around said mandibles and ripped them off the bug before crushing it with a paw.
And... I really mean crushing it with a paw as the dog quite literally slammed her paw down on the bug and the entire bug got smashed into the ground and splattered into meat paste.
Loud screeches came from within the horde of those bugs and I turned to see there were some distinctly bigger bugs that were moving amongst the horde.
These ones seemed to have tough chitinous armour as its carapace and I even saw lasers bouncing off its shell without leaving a scratch.
For its defensive strength, it was moving much slower than its brethren and I was considering what I could do to break through its shell when a dog leapt towards it.
The dog literally smashed through its shell, the armour cracking open like an egg as the bug let out a scream while the dog burrowed into its body before bursting out from the other side, its fur mattered with green liquid that was the bug’s blood.
Right... A bug with armour that can shrug off lasers cracked open so easily in front of a dog...
More of those bugs came crawling at us despite the fact that one of their own was killed so easily, as though believing that more of their numbers would make a difference.
I accelerated myself towards one of them and swung my halberd at it as well, scoring a hit with my weapon and leaving a slash mark on its back.
Well... At least my halberd can also slash through the armour at the very least?
The bug reared up and tried to pounce on me, only for a dog to jump in front of me and slash its claws at it, slicing through the armoured bug and cutting it into pieces easily.
The bug split into pieces and fell onto the ground like sliced pieces of salami, its armour completely useless against the dogs that were hunting them down.
Another type of bug also appeared, this one looking like an oversized cockroach except it was red in colour instead of brown.
It reared up its head before thrusting forward to spit out a spray of glowing, blue liquid from its mouth like a water hose.
I jumped back alongside several of the other dogs as the blue liquid hit the floor in front of me, causing the ground to sizzle and burn from the impact.
Some kind of acid spit or something? I guess I got to be careful not to get hit by that and make sure the dogs also don’t--
The dogs sniffed at the blue liquid before growling and charging straight towards the cockroach bug, their figures blurring into shadows gliding across the ground.
The bug tried to spit out its acid again and one of the dogs let out a deafening bark at the bug, which surprised me as the bug actually recoiled like it got struck before the dog smashed through its body without hesitation.
I felt my heart sink as I realised the dog that smashed through its body was coated with the blue liquid and was just about to rush to try and save her, only to realise that the dog was completely fine despite being soaked in it.
She just did the standard dog thing of shaking herself and the supposed acid rolled off of her without leaving a mark.
Right... So they’re immune to acid too... Or more specifically, bug acid... Ok, sure, why not?
I think at this point, the bugs realised that even their new brethren could do nothing against our dogs and they were just being slaughtered at this point so they turned and ran back to their burrows once again.
Naturally, the dogs were not letting them go and neither was I so we continued chasing after them and cutting them down from behind.
They tried to cover their escape by having more of those bulbous bugs shooting the green balls into the sky towards us but Lea and our own artillery platforms shot at the balls to make them explode in the sky, covering us from them.
The ships in orbit then returned fire on the bulbous bugs and wiped them out as well, leaving us free to chase after the retreating bugs and cut down more of them.
Just like the first time, we chased them all the way until their burrows before the shrill sound of a whistle being blown could be heard, signalling that we should stop.
All of us stopped at the entrance of the burrows that were big enough for humans to enter and we stayed there watching the dark hole, waiting to see if there might be a counter attack.
When none came, I waved at all the dogs to get their attention before pointing it back to the fort, indicating we should return there.
The dogs obeyed immediately, though they chose to gather around me and ran back to the fort while I flew above them like a leader of a pack.
I neared the gates and noticed that the soldiers that had been initially positioned there were nowhere to be found, only to realise that they had given the gate a wide berth as they knew the dogs were returning and they wanted to be as far away as possible from them.
I paid them no mind and led them back to the deepest part of the fort where Nerissa was already waiting in front of the cages.
As I was preparing to usher the dogs back inside, however, I suddenly received a message and judging by the look on Nerissa’s face, she also received one as well since she pulled out her personal terminal to start tapping on the screen.
I activated my screen to show what the contents of the message was.
I quickly realised it was from the Admiral and it was a mobilisation order where he’s commanding to send a strike team to attack the very depths of the bugs’ nest to clear them out completely.
And of course... He intends to have the dogs lead the way too...
