What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company? Chapter 934: She’s Actually Not Traumatised

Obviously things got a little awkward after Nerissa finished her food and she was back to just trying to make herself as small as possible in the corner of the room.
I wasn’t even using the dogs to threaten her since I had them waiting by the door, all of them content and laying on the floor after I fed them the dried meat.
"So... Happy?" I asked, letting the question hang in the air without specifying what exactly I was asking that she was happy about.
She shuddered, her gaze drifting to the plate that was licked completely clean on the table before shifting her gaze back to me.
I cocked an eyebrow at her which made her flinch slightly but she didn’t look away.
"I... I’m sorry..." She whispered in a voice that was almost inaudible.
I was actually surprised to hear the apology since I was half sure that she would sooner let herself get killed by her pride before she would even start to admit that she did something wrong.
Still... I wasn’t just going to let her attempted murder slide just because of an apology...
"Sorry? What are you sorry about? Do you have something to be sorry about?" I asked.
She choked a little, her eyes glancing to the entrance of the room where the dogs were laying before shifting it back to me.
"I... I was... I was rude to you and... I... I tried to get the dogs to attack you... I wasn’t thinking straight... I... I’m sorry."
Oh wow. She’s actually apologising quite sincerely about it.
I raised an eyebrow at her, "You’re serious huh? I’m guessing you did some serious reflection while you’re here or something?"
She looked back at the dogs that were laying by the door before looking at me once again, "You... can control them... Like they are completely mind controlled by you or something... I’ve never seen anyone with this much control over them..."
"Uh huh... What’s your point?"
"You... You’re much scarier than they are..."
It took me a moment to realise she’s trying to tell me that I was scarier than the dogs which I don’t really see a problem with since the dogs are so much cuter than I was so it’s normal for me to be scarier than they are.
Then of course I remembered that to the normal person of this universe, dogs are scary monsters and not cute, cuddly pets.
I pretended to be surprised, "Oh? Why would you ever say that? Did I do something that is really scary?"
Her gaze drifted down to the tentacles that were still attached to my lower back.
I rolled my eyes, "Come on, that’s a Gene mod. Don’t act like you’ve never seen a Gene modded person before. I’ve seen all kinds of people with them already."
She then snapped her gaze back to me, "What... What are you?"
"You’re making me sound like I’m some kind of creature or something..."
"I... I don’t mean to be rude..."
I waved my hand, "Sure, sure... Your words and meaning are totally not saying I’m a monster. So what now?"
She blinked at me, "What... What do you mean?"
"I mean you thought I was going to kill you, didn’t you? What are you going to do now that you know I have no plans to kill you?"
She furrowed her brows slightly, "I... I don’t know..."
"Then you better make up your mind quickly. Our job is to transport you and the dogs to Xetarva and then drop you there. You’re not going to just bail out, are you?"
She shivered, "You already know my situation... Where could I even go? I don’t have anyone else in this galaxy that will take me in and I don’t have anything to my name that I can use to survive... I have nowhere else to go."
"Mmhmm... That’s why I’m asking you what you’re going to do. Don’t think I didn’t notice but you’re already deathly afraid of the dogs you’re supposed to be commanding. Do you still think you can do that once you reach there?"
She hesitated, unable to answer me immediately since she knew what happened with me and the dogs definitely affected her quite a bit.
I continued, "You saw how they were ready to tear you to pieces despite your commands. Do you think you can still stand behind them?"
I watched her tremble in front of me, clearly not at ease.
I sighed.
I think she might not even be able to command them without remembering the fact that they had turned against her and was ready to tear her apart when she--
"That’s... Nothing new though?" She suddenly muttered.
I turned to her and raised a questioning eyebrow, "What?"
She turned to look at the dogs, "Umm... I mean... That’s just... Normal? It’s not like it’s my first time trying to command those things anyway... I did grow up in a Biotamer family after all so I also received the training to be a Biotamer... Don’t you... Ah... Sorry... I forgot... You’re not from a Biotamer family..."
I blinked at her before frowning, "No... Wait... What are you talking about? What do you mean that this isn’t anything new?"
"Umm... I mean... Is it the same for you? Sometimes they just decide not to listen to you? I’ve had to learn from the very beginning that they basically only tolerate us and we are in no way in control of them. The moment you believe that you are the one controlling them, that’s when you would most likely get yourself killed... There’s been many Biotamers who lost their lives that way, actually. The ironic thing is that Biotamers die to the creatures they control more often than anything else."
I turned to the dogs that were still laying on the ground peacefully, only to see them perk up as they saw me looking at them since they thought I wanted something.
I turned back to her, "So... What’s your case like? Don’t they obey you?"
"Most of the time... But... If I’m not careful, they would also try to bite me... So I’m used to them sometimes also turning on me..."
"This sounds like a really unreliable force to rely on killing those bugs though?"
She averted her gaze, "We don’t need to coordinate them... I just need to make sure that I can point them in the right direction and let them loose... They will do everything else without me directing them... Then once they are done, I just need to direct them back to their cages and that will basically be my job..."
Huh... What the heck? That sounds like an easy job! Something that even I can do!
I had thought she would be expected to also stand on the front lines and direct them around like some commander or a pack leader where she will direct and control the pack to exterminate the bugs! That’s why I didn’t want to break her too much or else she might fail at her job and end up getting the dogs killed!
Now you’re telling me her literal job is to be there and tell the dogs to go play and come back and that’s all she needed to do?!
They might as well be paying me to do her job instead! Just give me the license and her job!!
I let out a sigh, "Well... Whatever... I guess the question still doesn’t change though. Are you still alright with proceeding with your work?"
She nodded slowly, "O... Of course... I... I was prepared to do it from the beginning..."
"So why were you locked up in this room this entire time?"
"I... I thought you were going to kill me after... After I tried to get them to bite you... So I had been drafting my will and farewell letters..."
What the heck, this woman is stupid as shit.
I rolled my eyes, "I guess I should have expected someone stupid enough to try and murder someone for a misunderstanding to still be doing something stupid afterwards."
She grimaced but didn’t try to argue.
I turned to the four dogs laying at the door.
"Here girls! Here, here!"
They immediately jumped up and ran over to me, crowding around my legs and looking up at me while panting with anticipation.
I gave each of them a pat on their heads while watching Nerissa slink back a little more while looking at the dogs in fear, which I now knew that this was just a normal part of her reaction and not just because she knew the dogs had disobeyed her in favour of me.
Oh well... I guess as long as she repented and apologised sincerely, I’m willing to overlook it a little.
But it’s mainly because my Bio-Weapons license kind of hinges on her a little since I would need to deliver another batch of dogs to the planet after this before I can get the license so I kind of need her alive...
