Tushan Jingci's mother visited Xiao Mo, but he assured Jingci nothing happened. Jingci then told Xiao Mo they would be leaving Cold Mountain Academy in two months. Xiao Mo informed Jingci that Miss Liu had left to join Seeking Immortality Temple.

“Three years have passed; today, within this courtyard,

A face and peach blossoms blushed together red.

Where that face has gone, I do not know;

The peach blossoms still smile in the spring wind.”

Inside the room, Cold Mountain Academy’s Headmaster, Cun Caiguang, stroked his beard as he read aloud, word by word, the poem that had recently spread far and wide through Cold Mountain Academy.

The more he read, the more satisfied the old headmaster felt.

“Xichun, what do you think of this poem?”

Cun Caiguang turned his head and asked the student beside him.

“Unless the feeling and the scene had both reached their utmost, I could not have written a poem like this,” Xian Xichun said with a smile. Since his own disciple had written such a fine poem, as her teacher, he naturally shared in the honor.

“Hahaha... even if the feeling and the scene had both reached their utmost, you still wouldn’t be able to write it.” Cun Caiguang waved a hand and teased him cheerfully. “Your swordsmanship is passable, boy, but as for poetry, you truly have no talent to speak of.”

He carefully put the poem away, as though storing some rare treasure.

“This poem, ah... I must find a few colleagues and savor it properly with them. It would be best if I could have it sent to the Ten Thousand Arts world.”

He paused, and a hint of laughter flashed through his eyes. “Those old things in the Ten Thousand Arts world are always saying that when we demon-race children read books, we are merely beasts dressed in robes and caps. I would like to see whether anyone among their younger generation can write lines like these now.”

“Heh heh heh...” Xian Xichun smiled and replied unhurriedly, “Actually, Headmaster, they are not wrong. We are the demon race to begin with, so we are beasts dressed in robes and caps.”

“Eh? You!” When Cun Caiguang heard that, he grabbed the discipline ruler and made as though to knock it against Xian Xichun’s head.

Xian Xichun hurriedly dodged. Just then, from outside the courtyard came a young woman’s voice, clear and crisp as a silver bell.

“Student Tushan Jingci requests an audience with the Headmaster.”

“I’ll give you some face and spare you the humiliation in front of your own student.” The discipline ruler in Cun Caiguang’s hand hovered in midair, but in the end, it did not fall.

He straightened the blue robe he wore, clasped his hands behind his back, and walked out of the room.

“Jingci has come.” Cun Caiguang opened the wicker gate and asked with a smile, his tone kindly.

“Greetings, Headmaster. Greetings, Master Xian.” Tushan Jingci gave a gentle bow.

Cun Caiguang nodded and led Tushan Jingci and Xiao Mo inside. “Come in and have a cup of tea first.”

“Yes, Headmaster.” Tushan Jingci and Xiao Mo entered the courtyard together.

“If I have not guessed wrongly...” Cun Caiguang sat down with a smile, his gaze resting warmly on the two of them. “Jingci, you have come this time to bid us farewell, haven’t you?”

Tushan Jingci was slightly startled, somewhat surprised. “Headmaster, you know?”

“Naturally I know. Your mother has already told me everything.” Cun Caiguang picked up the teapot and was just about to pour tea for them.

Tushan Jingci quickly stood, took the teapot from him first, filled the cups of the two teachers, then poured one for Xiao Mo, and only then added tea to her own cup.

Cun Caiguang accepted the cup, took a sip, and said with a smile that carried a trace of emotion, “From now on, I fear there will never again be such an outstanding female Worthy as Jingci to pour tea for us old fellows. But this is fine as well. Once you have gone, this old man’s heart may actually be more at ease.”

Tushan Jingci lowered her head. There was a barely perceptible heaviness in her voice. “Headmaster, will something happen to Cold Mountain Academy?”

Her mother wanted her to return to Tushan. Though she had said it was so Jingci could do her part in protecting the clan, Tushan Jingci always felt the matter was not so simple.

“Heh heh heh... What could happen to our Cold Mountain Academy?”

Cun Caiguang stroked his beard and spoke cheerfully, his tone light and certain.

“Do you still not understand the strength of this grandfatherly headmaster of yours? I am quite equal to a Saint holding down this stretch of heaven and earth. Even your own grandfather would have to yield me three parts if he came here.”

He paused, and his tone softened. “It is only that the demon-race world is about to fall into great chaos. Not only you—many students will be leaving as well. This old man is simply somewhat reluctant to part with you all.”

“But Jingci...”

Cun Caiguang’s gaze turned serious, and he instructed her with heartfelt gravity.

“Even after you leave Cold Mountain Academy, you must continue to read and write properly. Learn until old age, live until old age. Remember this: you absolutely must not neglect your studies. Do you understand?”

“I understand, Headmaster.” Tushan Jingci nodded earnestly.

“Good. That will do.”

Cun Caiguang waved a hand.

“Xichun, take Jingci and the others to the Administrative Hall to complete the formalities. And you, Jingci, should drink a few more cups of wine with your teacher as well. In the future, there may not be many chances.”

“Yes, Headmaster.”

Everyone bowed respectfully to Cun Caiguang, then turned and walked out of the courtyard.

And the very moment Xiao Mo and the other two had left Cold Mountain Academy’s main peak, Cun Caiguang took out a new teacup, slowly poured tea into it, and spoke at a leisurely pace.

“Old thing, since you have come, stop hiding. You make it look as though you and I are having a secret affair.”

“Pah, pah, pah! Who is having a secret affair with an old thing like you? Do not ruin this old man’s reputation.”

As the voice fell, an old man appeared out of thin air in the courtyard.

The old man limped over to Cun Caiguang’s side and sat down.

“You have a very outstanding granddaughter,” Cun Caiguang said, turning his head to look at the most renowned elder in the demon-race world before him—Gui Ning.

“Does that even need saying? She is my granddaughter, after all.” The lame old man’s tone carried a trace of pride.

“Tch. You say that as if you ever taught your own granddaughter.” Cun Caiguang rolled his eyes at him and did not beat around the bush. “Speak. Why have you come to find me today?”

“What else could it be? To urge you to hurry up and leave!” Gui Ning tucked his sleeves together, his expression gradually turning serious.

“You know perfectly well that the demon-race world now has four major camps. The demon race occupies three, and humans occupy one. And your Cold Mountain Academy? It does not touch any power and relies on no camp.”

“Moreover, all these years, your Cold Mountain Academy has been drawing in the fortune of the demon-race world and using it to bestow blessings on the students who come here to study. It long ago became a thorn in countless people’s eyes and a spike in their flesh.”

“So hurry up and leave. Go as far as you can!”

“Leave?” Cun Caiguang smiled, but there was a trace of bitterness in it. “Where could I go? Old thing, tell me this—within the demon-race world now, is there still any place for us scholars to shelter?”

“Hey, old man, have you read yourself stupid?” Gui Ning shook his head helplessly. “The whole world is not limited to our demon-race world.”

“What? Where would I go? The Ten Thousand Arts world?” Cun Caiguang laughed despite his irritation.

“No.” Gui Ning smiled faintly, and a deep meaning flashed through his eyes. “To the Four Seas.”

“The Four Seas?” Cun Caiguang froze, clearly not expecting that answer.

“You know that Lord of the Four Seas, right?”

Gui Ning let out a breath, his gaze distant.

“I made a transaction with that young lady. Thirty days from now, she will arrive.”
