“Su Chen, let’s go!” Lin Lanxin approached, a joyous smile gracing her pure and beautiful face.
“Alright!” Su Chen agreed, rising to his feet and walking alongside Lin Lanxin.
Lin Lanxin, being relatively tall for a girl at nearly 1.7 meters, was still about half a head shorter than Su Chen, who stood at approximately 1.81 meters.
A subtle fragrance drifted from Lin Lanxin, reaching Su Chen’s senses. His mind wavered slightly as he inhaled deeply, drawn closer to her. The familiar scent was exquisite.
“Su Chen, why do I feel you’ve changed?” Lin Lanxin inquired, a touch of curiosity in her voice. She couldn’t quite pinpoint it, but Su Chen no longer seemed as dejected or self-neglecting. This brought her genuine delight, a day she had long anticipated for a year.
“No matter how I change, I am still Su Chen!”
“Yes!” Lin Lanxin’s smile widened, becoming even more radiant.
Under the gaze of their classmates, the pair exited the classroom.
It was the time for dismissal. While many students remained on campus, a considerable number lived nearby or off-campus, leading to many heading towards the school gates.
The familiar campus pathways, the gentle breeze rustling through the willows, the tranquil campus lake – it all felt dreamlike to Su Chen. However, as they strolled, a harsh voice suddenly commanded, “Stop!!!” The cry assailed Su Chen and Lin Lanxin’s ears.
Instinctively, they turned their attention forward. A man in his twenties, clad in a white sports outfit and a baseball cap, exuded a rather unkempt aura.
Yoo Fei?
Su Chen’s eyes narrowed slightly as he recognized the individual.
“Lanxin, is this the loser you fancy?” Yoo Fei queried, his gaze flicking from Su Chen to Lin Lanxin.
“Watch your mouth!” Lin Lanxin’s temper flared. Despite her kind and gentle nature, she would not tolerate anyone insulting Su Chen.
“If he’s not a loser, then what is he? I’ve looked into this loser’s background. Firstly, he’s an orphan who struggles to afford even tuition and meal fees—it was you who secretly covered them. Secondly, his academic performance is abysmal; he skips classes frequently, likely failing over ten subjects this semester. And most importantly, this guy is so weak, he’s not even as capable as a woman!” Yoo Fei sneered contemptuously. “Lin Lanxin, if you had chosen an outstanding man, I might have overlooked it. But damn it, you’ve chosen a loser! I absolutely cannot tolerate this!”
“Shut up…” Lin Lanxin’s face flushed crimson with anger. Just as she was about to retort, Su Chen suddenly clasped her hand. In that instant, Lin Lanxin’s delicate frame trembled with excitement; it was the very first time Su Chen had held her hand. She harbored feelings for Su Chen, having fallen for him during those two hours in the elevator. Women’s emotions can be swift, unexpected, and utterly irrational. Perhaps Su Chen wasn’t exceptional, perhaps in everyone’s eyes he was merely a failure, but so what? She, Lin Lanxin, loved him dearly! Love, after all, needs no reason.
Even though Su Chen had been despondent and neglectful for the past six months, she never once looked down on him. The only thing that saddened her was his prior rejection. Yet, she persevered. Finally, the clouds had parted; how could she not feel thrilled?
“Let’s go!” Su Chen murmured softly, his grip on Lin Lanxin’s small hand conveying a sense of warmth and resolve. “Lanxin, in this life, no one will dare to bully you. This life, it’s my turn to protect you.”
Lin Lanxin, completely forgetting Yoo Fei’s presence, lowered her head slightly, a shy blush suffusing her beautiful face. She walked beside Su Chen, reminiscent of a newlywed bride.
“Damn it!!! Leaving? Did I give you permission to leave?” Yoo Fei erupted in fury, his rage and jealousy reaching a fever pitch, especially upon witnessing Su Chen holding Lin Lanxin’s hand. Without another word, he lunged forward to block their path.
“I dislike repeating myself. Move aside!” Su Chen’s gaze lifted, his calm demeanor towards Yoo Fei striking a peculiar note.
“And just who do you think you are? A damned loser, and you dislike repeating yourself? How ludicrous! What kind of imbecile attempts to act tough? I’m simply blocking your way; what are you going to do about it?” Yoo Fei taunted fiercely.
Yoo Fei’s attitude was exceedingly arrogant, his voice resonating loudly. A crowd had already begun to gather, and those observing Su Chen seemed to relish his predicament. As Yoo Fei had rightly pointed out, if Lin Lanxin had chosen a prodigy or someone with a powerful background, it would have been understandable. But this Su Chen was an utter failure, an orphan at that! Such trash, they felt, did not deserve Lin Lanxin.
Su Chen slowly raised his eyes, his cold gaze locking onto Yoo Fei.
“Loser, your glare is so intimidating, so chilling, looking at me like that, I’m nearly scared out of my wits, hahaha…” Yoo Fei, completely unfazed and even arrogant, bared his neck with a conceited grin.
The very next moment.
Swiftly and without the slightest hint of caution, Su Chen launched his attack!!!
No superfluous motions were made; it was merely a kick, a single, unadorned kick…
However, the velocity of this kick was utterly astonishing, moving with the speed of lightning and the ferocity of a charging dragon and tiger. Yoo Fei found himself utterly incapable of evading, not even possessing the fleeting opportunity to react.
“Thud!” A deep, resonant impact reverberated through the surroundings.
Su Chen, having attained the Basic Entry realm in Martial Cultivation, had far surpassed Yoo Fei’s wildest estimations.
Although Yoo Fei had only recently become a member of the Martial Arts Club, his strength barely exceeded that of a common man. In comparison to Su Chen, the disparity was as vast as the heavens and the earth.
