It was certain that by tomorrow's dawn, every person of importance in Jinling would be informed of her bond with Wang Yue.
Having witnessed his rage fueled by love, Chu Mo felt a profound sense of fulfillment; at this moment, the presence or absence of a formal title was irrelevant to her.
That lingering warmth of happiness stayed with Chu Mo even as they exited the hall and made their way toward the resort’s parking area.
Right as she prepared to enter the vehicle, she gathered her resolve and whispered to Wang Yue, "Wang Yue, I don’t want to go home tonight."
"Where do you want to go then?" Wang Yue inquired, maintaining the facade of a naive young boy he always displayed when around his two cousins and Chu Mo.
"Silly cousin, what Mo Mo really wants is to be your bride tonight," Su Jiaojiao interjected bluntly, exposing Chu Mo’s hidden desire.
Chu Mo’s cheeks flushed crimson; Su Jiaojiao had seen right through her. Wang Yue’s earlier display of gallantry had been so captivating that she was currently swept up in a wave of romantic longing.
However, confessing such a thing directly to Wang Yue while her close friends watched was far too humiliating. Chu Mo quickly countered, "No, I just want to spend more time with you. Just sitting and chatting will be enough."
Su Jiaojiao’s eyes sparkled with mischief. "If that’s the case, let’s find a place to drink. It’ll be a great opportunity to celebrate your official relationship."
While this young girl was known for her bluntness, she possessed a clever mind. After observing the interactions between her cousin and her mother, she had been eager to experience such things herself, yet the right moment had never arrived.
She figured that if she spent the night drinking alongside Wang Yue and Chu Mo, things would inevitably escalate once they were intoxicated, perhaps allowing her a chance to participate as well.
Su Xiu’er chimed in, "I think that’s a good idea. What do you think, sister?"
"Okay, but ordinary alcohol wouldn’t be any good. We need to find something special to drink," Su Jin’er agreed.
Their motivations were largely the same. While they were genuinely pleased for their friend after Wang Yue’s public declaration, they couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy when Chu Mo suggested staying the night with him.
It was only then that they realized they had begun to develop feelings for their cousin without even noticing.
Despite being Wang Yue’s cousins and Chu Mo’s friends, they weren't exactly jealous, yet the thought of the two of them spending the night alone made them feel restless.
With Jiaojiao having voiced the suggestion, they all quickly fell in line with the plan.
Internally, Chu Mo felt a bit of regret. She had truly hoped for private time with Wang Yue, but as a young woman mindful of her reputation, she didn't dare protest. With a look of slight disappointment, she said, "You’ve made the decision."
"That’s settled then. We don’t need to look for alcohol; I have some high-purity ’Fairy Drunkness’ here," Wang Yue announced. "As for the location, let’s go to Mo Mo’s gym. If we get drunk and start acting up, there’s plenty of space there."
"Great! A big place is more fun. I want to perform a set of ’Drunk Fist’ moves!" Su Jiaojiao exclaimed, clapping her hands in excitement.
"Alright, I'll notify the staff and coaches that the gym will be closed for the first half of tomorrow so no one sees us in a drunken state," Chu Mo said with a light smile. "But be careful, especially you, Wang Yue. Don’t wreck my gym."
She then accessed her communication device and messaged her work group: "Due to the owner’s personal matters, the gym will be closed tomorrow."
Wang Yue then turned to Su Jin’er. "Sis, can I borrow your communication device? I need to tell my mom that I won’t be coming home tonight."
"Why not use your own?" Su Jin’er asked, unfastening the device from her wrist.
"It’s all because of this girl," Wang Yue replied, patting Su Jiaojiao’s head. "She installed all those messy programs on my device."
"Is it that serious?" Su Jiaojiao asked, surprised. She had installed the software on Wang Yue’s device thinking she could just delete it later, never considering the actual risks.
"Of course it’s serious," Wang Yue replied gravely. "With those things installed, privacy no longer exists. Even if you uninstall them, who can guarantee the developer didn't leave a back door?"
"What should we do then?" The four girls finally grasped the gravity of the issue. A single compromised device could be replaced, but this was a threat that was hard to defend against; a single lapse in judgment could lead to disaster.
They even began to wonder if the manufacturers themselves had pre-installed such hidden dangers.
Communication devices had become as essential as the mobile phones of centuries past; life without them would be incredibly difficult.
"Tomorrow, I plan to go see Aunt Yan to see if she can help us," Wang Yue said.
The Su sisters’ eyes brightened. "Right, with Aunt Yan, we don’t have to worry about that."
Su Jiaojiao even suggested, "How about asking Aunt Yan to develop an even more powerful software to counter such threats?"
"We’ll talk about that with Aunt Yan tomorrow," Wang Yue agreed. He took Su Jin’er’s device and stepped away. His relationship with his mother was somewhat unconventional, and he preferred that their conversation remain private.
After moving about ten meters away, Wang Yue utilized his Qi to form a protective barrier around himself, ensuring total silence from the outside, before dialing his mother’s number.
"Jin’er? Is there something you need from auntie?" The call connected instantly, and Su Mengyan’s voice reached him.
Wang Yue noticed a shift in his mother’s tone.
Usually, Su Mengyan spoke with a detached, almost robotic lack of emotion, unless she was alone with Wang Yue or Xin Er.
But now, under the impression she was speaking to Su Jin’er, her voice carried a hint of emotion—surprise mixed with the warmth of a relative. It was a minor change, but for Su Mengyan, it was a monumental shift.
This made Wang Yue very happy. While he enjoyed being the sole recipient of her warmth, he knew it would be selfish to want her to remain so isolated.
His love for her wasn't about possession; he wanted her to find happiness and peace. He hoped that under his influence, she might slowly return to her true self.
"Mom, it’s me," Wang Yue said.
"Yue Er? Why are you using your cousin’s communicator?" Su Mengyan asked, her voice filled with surprise.
"I’m with my cousin right now," Wang Yue replied. "I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be coming home tonight."
"Not coming home? Where are you going?" Su Mengyan questioned. "Can you even sleep without your mom?"
"Probably not, but that’s okay; I don’t plan to sleep anyway," Wang Yue admitted. "Today, I made things official with Chu Mo; I’ll be staying with her tonight."
"Who is Chu Mo?" Su Mengyan asked. She paid little attention to worldly affairs and had never heard of Chu Mo, despite her being one of the famous "Twelve Beauties of Jinling."
Wang Yue took a moment to explain who Chu Mo was and how they had met, making sure to mention that Chen Xi was aware of the situation and had given her blessing.
Su Mengyan went silent for a beat, then asked in a voice tinged with sadness, "Son, do you think you dislike me now?"
"Of course not. I will never feel that way as long as I live. In fact, I wish to be with you forever, never leaving your side for even a moment," Wang Yue reassured her quickly.
Then, on a whim, he teased, "But I really want to experience what it’s like to be with someone else... Since you won’t let me be with you, I have no choice but to try with someone else."
"Go ahead, then. Be with another woman, and don’t come back!" Su Mengyan snapped angrily before hanging up.
Looking at the disconnected device, Wang Yue found himself smiling. This was the first time his mother had shown anger; it was a sign that her true personality was resurfacing, which was a positive development.
As for her telling him not to return, he knew it was merely a outburst of temper. Given her deep love for him, her anger would surely have vanished by morning.
