Urban Seduction: Housewives Club Chapter 1959 - 288: Teasing 1

While protecting the Su sisters from lecherous stares, Wang Yue is provoked by a group of young men from a rival faction who mock his reputation and insult his mother. Enraged by their crude insinuations, Wang Yue retaliates with a brutal display of force, leaving one of the agitators severely injured. The confrontation is interrupted by the arrival of Xin Xiaoxiao, a beautiful and authoritative police officer known as one of the Twelve Beauties of Jinling. Despite her presence, the tension remains high as the group attempts to use her arrival to frame Wang Yue for the violence.

Wang Yue remained completely unmoved. With a composed expression, he stated, "Indeed, I am the one responsible. The man earned that beating. Had you all not been present, I would have ended his life right then and there!"

A frown creased Xin Xiaoxiao’s brow.

The police department, serving as the official body tasked with upholding order in Jinling, maintained a close watch on the city’s influential clans and possessed extensive dossiers on them.

Driven by her ambition to be an exemplary officer, Xin Xiaoxiao had committed all those records to memory. Consequently, even though this was her first physical encounter with Wang Yue, she possessed significant knowledge regarding his background.

According to her information, Wang Yue typically maintained a very low profile.

While this was partially due to the constraints placed upon him by the three dominant families, even during his three days of monthly freedom, there were no reports of him instigating trouble.

His solitary "offense" occurred over ten days ago when he assaulted Zhang Qingtian in a public setting, though that incident had a clear provocation.

In stark contrast to Wang Yue, his current adversaries—including the short man now grounded with a shattered leg—possessed atrocious reputations. Exploiting their family prestige, they frequently engaged in acts of intimidation and bullying.

Because of this, Xin Xiaoxiao’s sympathies naturally leaned toward Wang Yue.

However, Wang Yue’s overt arrogance caught her off guard, souring her initial impression. She demanded in a sharp tone, "What justification do you have for these actions?"

"That man directed foul insults at my cousin," Su Jiaojiao interjected quickly. "We might have overlooked it if he had only targeted my cousin, but he went as far as insulting my second aunt... How could my cousin possibly remain calm!"

Xin Xiaoxiao’s frown deepened, though this time her irritation was directed at the injured man on the floor rather than Wang Yue.

Being intimately familiar with the inner workings of Jinling’s three major families, she was well aware that Su Jiaojiao’s second aunt was Wang Yue’s birth mother.

Though Xin Xiaoxiao had grown up an orphan, her master had raised and educated her with maternal devotion. To her, her master represented a mother figure, making the concept of "mother" sacred in her eyes.

Upon hearing Su Jiaojiao’s explanation and seeing Su Jin’er, Su Xiu’er, and Chu Mo nod in confirmation—while the opposing side offered no denial—she felt the short man truly deserved his fate.

Nevertheless, as a police officer, her mandate was to preserve the peace rather than incite conflict. She spoke firmly, "I shall overlook the current incident. You may settle this matter amongst yourselves, but there must be no further violence. If fighting resumes, I will be forced to intervene according to the law."

Wang Yue was indifferent to Xin Xiaoxiao’s legal stance; his sole objective had been to punish the short man.

The others lacked the courage to actually engage Wang Yue in combat. Seizing the opportunity, they hoisted the injured man up and retreated to seek medical attention.

Slap! Slap! Slap!

The tension seemed to dissipate until the sudden sound of rhythmic clapping filled the room.

Zhang Shao from Tianhai smiled as he applauded, remarked, "Splendid, truly splendid! It has been quite a while since I witnessed such a captivating performance."

Zhang Qingtian quickly adopted a fawning smile and said, "Jinling is humble compared to Tianhai. We are merely uncouth country folk lacking proper etiquette. I hope we haven't disappointed you, Mr. Zhang."

"Not at all, it was quite amusing," Zhang Lingfeng replied with a chuckle. "However, the entertainment ended too quickly for my liking. Is there no one else here with martial skill? Why doesn't someone challenge Young Master Wang to a duel?"

The surrounding youths exchanged hesitant glances. While a few felt they could potentially best Wang Yue in a fight, none were foolish enough to provoke him without cause.

Wang Yue was, after all, the singular protected asset of Jinling’s three major families.

Harming him would invite total destruction upon themselves and their clans; even if the three families were currently in a precarious state, they could still annihilate their enemies before the Zhang family from Tianhai could arrive in force to intervene.

When no one stepped forward, Zhang Lingfeng’s smile vanished. He turned his gaze toward Wang Yue and said, "It appears Young Master Wang wields immense authority in Jinling. Since no one dares to step up, why don't you select an opponent yourself?"

His words were phrased as a suggestion, but his tone was a command. To him, these Jinling socialites were nothing more than playthings for his amusement.

Wang Yue, however, completely ignored him. He turned to the four women and said, "Let’s depart. There is nothing worth our time here."

The four women nodded and followed him toward the exit.

"Halt!" Zhang Lingfeng barked, his voice laced with fury. He had come for a "show," yet the "performers" were not only refusing to play their parts but were treating him as if he didn't exist.

Having been fed a steady diet of flattery by people like Zhang Qingtian since his arrival in Jinling, his ego could not withstand such a slight.

Yet Wang Yue and his companions continued their leisurely pace toward the exit, acting as if they were deaf to his shouting.

If they were permitted to walk out now, Zhang Lingfeng’s reputation would be utterly tarnished.

Despite his rage, he hesitated to attack Wang Yue directly. Though the Tianhai Zhang family considered themselves superior, Zhang Lingfeng was currently outnumbered; he had only brought two subordinates and two bodyguards at the Tianyuan realm.

Should a full-scale war erupt with the three local families immediately, his small entourage would be unable to survive an all-out desperate assault.

However, while he couldn't easily move against Wang Yue or the Su sisters, there remained a more vulnerable target.

Zhang Lingfeng inhaled deeply to steady his anger and turned to Zhang Qingtian. "Zhang Qingtian, I was told you have a fiancée. Where is she?"

Zhang Qingtian considered his fiancée’s association with Wang Yue a mark of shame and usually avoided the topic. Now, it was being dragged into the spotlight.

Had anyone else raised the subject, Zhang Qingtian would have retaliated viciously. But facing Zhang Lingfeng, he only managed a strained smile and answered, "That would be Chu Mo."

He then called out, "Mo Mo, come here and pay your respects to Young Master Zhang."

Chu Mo gave him no response whatsoever.

Zhang Lingfeng smirked. "A mere greeting is insufficient. Zhang Qingtian, you are quite fortunate to possess such a stunning woman. Even in Tianhai, her beauty is rare. Since she is your fiancée, surely you wouldn't mind if she kept me company for the night?"

Fury surged through Zhang Qingtian. He lacked genuine affection for Chu Mo beyond her physical appeal, but she was still his betrothed, and this was a direct assault on his manhood.

Even Wang Yue, despite being with Chu Mo, had never humiliated him so blatantly. Zhang Lingfeng was publicly demanding to sleep with his fiancée. Any man with a modicum of self-respect would be livid.

Yet, paralyzed by fear of the Zhang family's power, Zhang Qingtian forced his voice to remain steady. "It would be her greatest honor," he replied.

Zhang Qingtian wasn't the only one feeling the heat of anger. Chu Kuo was already fuming at Zhang Lingfeng’s crude demand, but Zhang Qingtian’s spineless response made him shudder with revulsion; he realized that marrying his daughter to such a coward would be her undoing.

Xin Xiaoxiao, driven by her rigid sense of justice, could not stand by. She moved to confront Zhang Lingfeng, but before she could utter a word, one of his henchmen struck her neck, rendering her unconscious.

Zhang Lingfeng ignored the chaos. His eyes were fixed on Wang Yue, who had stopped in his tracks, turned around, and was now walking slowly back toward him.

By making such a vile demand, Zhang Lingfeng wasn't just expressing his lust for the women—he was intentionally baiting Wang Yue. He couldn't strike first, but he could certainly provoke Wang Yue into a reckless rage.
