Leon’s face lit up with a massive grin as the freshly acquired skill information integrated into his mind. After an arduous period of nearly eight centuries filled with relentless experimentation, the replicas had finally achieved the breakthrough Leon sought… the ability to transform into genuine dragons.
"It appears the experiments necessitated several distinct phases, as even with the aid of memory energy, achieving true draconic form was initially beyond our grasp," Leon explained. "Nevertheless, we have ultimately attained this formidable power."
Ilyana and Tyrselle’s eyes widened in astonishment upon receiving their respective notifications. The situation was utterly astounding; not only had Leon devised a system remarkably mirroring the assimilation system by employing memory energy, but he had also engineered a skill capable of altering their very DNA. The skill's designation was incredibly fitting. By utilizing it, they would transform into authentic dragons, inheriting all the inherent talents bestowed upon their kind. As if that weren't astonishing enough, the skill incurred no significant cost, as the memory energy would remain integrated within their beings. To compound the marvel, they could revert to their original forms without encountering any complications.
"I understand now…" Ilyana stated. "It makes perfect sense why you mentioned Tyrselle would be the primary architect of this skill. You leveraged all her profound knowledge of dragons to develop it. This skill is absolutely flawless… devoid of any discernible weaknesses."
Naturally, such a perfected skill was precisely what Leon had envisioned from the outset. However, this was not the moment for awe. Given the dire circumstances pressing upon everyone, Leon proceeded to impart the skill's knowledge to the entire group without further delay. The prevailing sense of panic swiftly gave way to sheer disbelief. The information they received was almost too incredible to comprehend. Yet, this astonishment evaporated the instant Tyrselle activated the newfound skill. The crimson aura, a manifestation of the memory energy, expanded with terrifying velocity, and in a mere blink of an eye, Tyrselle vanished, replaced by a colossal red dragon, fifty meters in length, where she had stood moments before. While its scales weren't jagged, they appeared incredibly robust, exuding a sturdiness that surpassed anything Leon or the others had ever witnessed.
"GYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
The red dragon let out a ferocious roar… Leon began to entertain the unsettling notion that perhaps the skill wasn't entirely flawless. The sheer ferocity radiating from Tyrselle was unlike anything he had experienced before, potent enough to induce a cold sweat. Yet, it seemed his anxieties were, as usual, unfounded. After its initial outcry, Tyrselle turned her gaze towards Leon with newly crimson eyes and offered a resolute nod. She proceeded to do the same for Sylas and his surviving followers arrayed behind them. Subsequently, she propelled herself with astonishing speed towards the estimated location of the system's creator. Tyrselle’s speed was so immense that the very fabric of space around her appeared to warp and distort.
"Let us advance!" Sylas bellowed. "We cannot permit our master to confront that monstrosity alone!"
Without the slightest hesitation, Sylas transformed into a majestic silver dragon, also measuring fifty meters in length. His eyes mirrored the shimmering silver of his scales, which, in contrast to Tyrselle's, were not merely sturdy but wickedly sharp. Unlike Tyrselle, Sylas managed to resist the primal influence of the dragon's blood coursing through him. However, Leon could already sense the turbulent torrent of emotions within him poised to erupt. Despite this, Sylas maintained control, intending to unleash this pent-up fury only upon reaching the final adversary. Sylas then soared towards Tyrselle, a pursuit echoed by all her loyal followers.
"Remarkable…" Hector uttered, clearly awestruck. "I never imagined they could achieve even greater strength, yet they have become significantly more powerful than before. To be perfectly honest, this sudden surge in power is rather unnerving. Unlike all of you, I have painstakingly built my strength through steady progression."
"There is no cause for undue worry," Leon reassured him. "If someone as inherently bloodthirsty as Tyrselle can still maintain her composure, then you should have nothing to fear. It appears the dragon's blood immensely bolsters all our fundamental attributes, but it also necessitates a degree of primal savagery, akin to that of true dragons. I suspect vocal communication may become impossible in that form, so it would be prudent to utilize Telepathy."
Even Leon lacked complete knowledge regarding his new skill, as the moment his replica mastered it, the information was instantaneously transmitted to him. Nevertheless, despite this partial understanding, his allies began transforming into dragons one after another. They observed that the detrimental effects of the physical realm's destruction seemed to diminish slightly following Tyrselle and her followers' transformation. Furthermore, in their new draconic forms, they appeared largely unfazed by the unraveling of reality itself. At least, not in a direct manner.
As everyone underwent transformation, a noticeable lessening of those oppressive sensations occurred. Although their lives remained precarious, the intense agony subsided. Yet, they didn't immediately advance, opting instead to await command from their leaders, as was customary. Witnessing this, Leon's companions shed their reservations. Hector and Ren shifted into formidable red dragons, while Yuki and Gisela morphed into wind dragons. Interestingly, Amanda and Maya transformed into water dragons, and so the pattern continued, leaving only Leon and Ilyana untransformed.
"It appears we've succeeded, Leon," Ilyana declared, embracing him tightly before burying her face in his chest, inhaling deeply.
"You've just uttered the most significant death flag imaginable..." Leon muttered, a frown creasing his brow. "However, I am considerably confident in our victory. No... we *will* win, and then we shall reclaim our lives."
With those words, Leon bestowed a kiss upon Ilyana's forehead. For the sake of a normal existence, where they, his children, his friends, his allies, and all others could find happiness, they would vanquish the system's creator. Ilyana affirmed his resolve with a nod, and their forms began to radiate light, culminating in their own transformation into majestic dragons.
