Unholy Player Chapter 506 Awakening a Bloodline Talent

Have I become so transparent?
Adyr maintained a subtle grin, appearing composed enough to deceive any onlooker, though internally he experienced a sharp fusion of astonishment and curiosity.
The way Dalin characterized him—as if she possessed the ability to peer behind his metaphorical mask—was an unexpected development.
He was undergoing a transformation; that much was undeniable. He sensed it in the minor lapses, the slight hesitations, and the instances where his performance used to be seamless and natural. His proficiency at concealing his true nature beneath a facade was waning. The effortless acting of his past was becoming impossible to sustain.
Nonetheless, he was confident that the acquisition of his new bloodline ability would compensate for that deficiency.
Nihil: What significance does existence hold before the scion of nothingness? No eye possesses the strength to perceive you, and no intellect has the volume to encompass you.
Absence: A formless manifestation that defies description or definition, a void residing beyond the grasp of fate and destiny.
He reviewed the details once more. According to his interpretation, it should function as a passive shroud, helping him evade the scrutiny of others by acting as a subtle veil that blunted the sharp traits people typically identified first.
Could I have misinterpreted its function?
The uncertainty had scarcely surfaced when he noticed a change right in front of him.
Dalin’s expression shifted abruptly. Her eyes grew wide and her brows rose slightly, as if she were fixated on an invisible void, scanning information that was visible only to her.
“Did you receive a system notification?” Adyr asked with a light laugh, deciphering her look.
Judging by her demeanor and immediate response, it was evident that this wasn't a standard talent recognition from the system. It was something far more profound, striking her with a suddenness she couldn't mask.
“My Appraisal talent... it has...” Dalin’s look of disbelief intensified as she shifted her focus from the empty air toward Adyr. “It has evolved into a bloodline talent.”
“Oh?” Adyr replied, allowing a hint of his own amazement to surface. “My congratulations.”
“Thank you.” Her response was rigid and brief. His calm reaction seemed insignificant compared to the turmoil brewing within her.
Awakening a bloodline talent should have been a monumental event, yet Adyr merely offered a polite word. He didn't even inquire about its nature, which grated on her nerves slightly.
Realizing he wouldn't ask, she volunteered the information herself. “The talent is called Omnisight, and its primary ability is Gaze.”
Her shock turned into a pensive frown as she knitted her brows. “The description doesn't make the ability's function clear. I believe I have to register it to understand its true nature.”
She seemed indifferent to speaking the names aloud. Since she couldn't grasp their meaning, she doubted the surrounding STF members—who weren't even Practitioners—would understand anything either.
However, the moment Adyr heard the names, he knew exactly what they represented.
She unlocked Omnisight through the Appraisal talent? What are the implications? The thought raced through his mind.
It was the identical talent Adyr had unlocked long ago, though his had originated from the Observer talent, resulting in different nomenclature.
Upon reflection, however, he identified the common thread. Both talents shared the fundamental pillars of observation and evaluation.
Adyr mentally summoned the specifications of the bloodline talent.
Omnisight: You perceive beyond the shroud of time, where destiny manifests and secrets resonate, wielding a vision that curves the infinite line.
Gaze: A timeless vision that shreds the veil of time, exposing both hidden potencies and lethal weaknesses, granting the wielder power to dictate the path of destiny before it even begins.
The fact that Dalin awakened this bloodline talent merely by evaluating Adyr’s potential confirmed that identical bloodline talents could be reached through various paths of Cultivation.
Adyr then asked, letting his genuine interest show. “Does the description, or any part of the notification, mention it being a Genesis talent?”
He needed to confirm if it was truly the exact same talent as his own.
Dalin shook her head in the negative. “No. Why? Are you familiar with this talent?”
Adyr didn't provide an immediate answer to her question. Instead, he requested a pen and paper from a nearby STF member and handed them to Dalin. “Write down the full descriptions here.”
Dalin gave a nod of understanding. She realized he preferred a written record over spoken words because such details needed to be kept confidential, even from the human military personnel.
Once she finished writing, Adyr reviewed the text. It matched his own Omnisight talent and Gaze ability perfectly; the only distinction was the absence of the Genesis classification.
He returned the parchment to her.
The moment Dalin touched the paper, it spontaneously ignited. The sheet shriveled and disappeared so rapidly that not a single speck of ash remained.
“Well?” she prompted.
She was already certain that Adyr possessed knowledge regarding this bloodline talent. She was even beginning to strongly suspect that he might possess it himself. “It is a remarkably powerful and practical talent. However, before you register it, ensure your Sense stat is high enough to handle the mental strain it imposes. It needs to be at least 600,” Adyr advised, thinking back to his own initial experience.
Gaze was an ability that, once registered, stayed active constantly. It would fragment one's vision into multiple panels, perpetually looping the next ten seconds of the future—a relentless cycle of reality repeating in short bursts.
To survive and process that unending stream of data, one’s [Sense] had to be elevated so the brain could manage the information without a way to turn it off.
Adyr had previously utilized his [Resilience] stat to survive the strain, as that stat fortified both the physical body and the mind. But since Dalin focused on [Sense] and [Physique], focusing on [Sense] was her best path forward.
“Thank you,” Dalin said, her gratitude genuine. She was thankful for the advice and for the fact that her interaction with him had triggered her awakening.
A score of 600 was quite daunting for her currently, as she had prioritized [Physique]. However, now that she possessed a bloodline talent, her motivation to train and earn more stat points was higher than ever.
Being the first among her peers to awaken such a talent gave her a powerful advantage to hold over Selina.
“Make sure to recount your experience to the others. It might provide the spark they need to awaken their own talents,” Adyr remarked as he rose. He felt the hoverjet decelerating, indicating they had arrived. Waiting for the hatch to slide open, he spread his wings and leaped out. He spiraled down toward the massive, black, coffin-shaped skyscraper that dominated the skyline below.
Dalin stood by the opening, watching him descend. Her scarlet hair whipped about in the gale entering the cabin.
She let out a weary breath. “Once again, he drops a bombshell and just walks away like it’s trivial.”
The earlier spark of excitement had vanished from her eyes, replaced by a look of profound pity.
This was the precise reason she had subtracted a point from his potential score: she sensed that despite Adyr’s many strengths, he was missing something fundamental.
To Dalin, Adyr seemed hollow, as if he lacked the capacity to understand what would actually bring him fulfillment.
It appeared as though he desired to live but had no concept of how to truly do so, desperately grasping at anything that might validate his existence as something more than a mere physical presence.
Adyr touched down on the expansive rooftop of the headquarters, under the watchful eyes of numerous STF guards.
Upon seeing him, the guards recoiled, startled by his transformed state. Fortunately, the fact that he arrived via hoverjet and possessed those unmistakable black-and-white wings allowed them to identify him.
As he headed toward the elevators, he offered a faint smile and a nod, acknowledging the salutes of the soldiers on duty.
He inquired with a guard near the lift about Henry’s location. Once informed, he stepped inside and descended to the office floor.
He traversed the long hallway with measured strides, returning every salute with the same polite nod and smile, until he reached a large office door. He pushed it open without bothering to knock.
Two men were waiting inside. One was Henry Bates, and the other was Rhys Graves. Both were on their feet, clearly expecting his arrival. “You’re going to be the reason I have a fatal heart attack one of these days,” Henry remarked, sighing heavily as he took in Adyr’s new appearance and sank into his plush chair as if drained of all strength.
