Hexin blushed at Yuan You's teasing about Long Yin's bedroom skills and gave her a tour of the Eastern Palace. Lu Liangwei invited Hexin, He’an, and Yuan You to lunch at Grand Phoenix Palace, prompting Hexin to fetch He’an from the study where Long Yin and Qi Heng were present. Yuan You hid awkwardly from Qi Heng as the group headed over amid familial warmth.

“Mother.” Accompanied by He’an, Long Yin moved ahead and offered a respectful bow to Lu Liangwei.

He’an advanced too, performing a palm-and-fist salute as he bowed. “Greetings to Your Highness.”

Lu Liangwei rose at once in joy and steadied him on his feet. Delightedly, she remarked, “My goodness, He’an, you’ve grown so much already.”

A touch of shyness washed over He’an at her words. Departing from his usual mischievous nature, he acted with perfect decorum today. Color rose faintly on his handsome features as he cast a sneaky peek at Lu Liangwei, then promptly ducked his head again.

Aunt Weiwei looks so beautiful. Oh no, why is my heart pounding harder and harder?

Just then, Yuan You came forward as well, dipping into a bow toward Lu Liangwei. “Greetings to you, Your Highness.”

Lu Liangwei lifted her up and studied her carefully. With praise, she said, “Ah, so you’re Youyou. You’re such a beautiful girl.”

Gathering her nerve, Yuan You raised her gaze for a peek. Her jaw went slack upon beholding Lu Liangwei’s gorgeous visage.

Seeing Yuan You’s look, Lu Liangwei touched her cheek and smiled. “Am I really that awful-looking?”

Yuan You shook her head fast. “No, no. Your beauty has just stunned me. I’ve heard so much about you, Your Highness, yet never met you before. Today is unforgettable. You’re utterly gorgeous. It’s unbelievable you’re a grandmother now. If we strolled the streets side by side, folks would take us for sisters. You seem so young and lovely.”

Qi Heng, Hexin, and the rest shot sidelong glances at Yuan You.

This girl had a surprisingly smooth tongue.

Even though Lu Liangwei was in her thirties and already a grandmother, compliments like these still thrilled her deeply. Unable to stop grinning, she gently stroked Yuan You’s cheek while saying with a smile, “You sure know how to flatter.”

Yuan You answered earnestly, “I’m speaking the truth. Your Highness, you’re truly beautiful and so youthful.”

Lu Liangwei gave a soft laugh. Turning to the group, she commented, “What an endearing girl. If only I had another son, I’d love to welcome you as a daughter-in-law.”

Yaoyao giggled and said, “Lucky you don’t have more sons, Mother, or my friends would all wed into Great Shang, leaving me without company. Come sit beside me, Youyou.”

Though her cheeks flushed from their teasing, Yuan You followed Yaoyao’s words and settled next to her.

“I’ve heard of your pregnancy, Your Highness. I haven’t congratulated you yet.”

“It’s never too late for that.” Yaoyao lounged against Beitang You, idly savoring a grape he offered her.

To her surprise, grape juice caught in her throat, sparking a coughing fit.

Lu Liangwei stayed put without budging, commenting with faint irritation, “Youyou, it’s only a choke. Nothing major. There’s no need to get so worked up.”

Yaoyao patted his hand. “I’m alright, truly. It was just a choke. Don’t treat it like a crisis.”

Yuan You stared at the two in amazement.

Lu Liangwei smiled as she said, “Nothing to gawk at. Your Emperor’s been this way ever since Yaoyao’s pregnancy news.”

Embarrassment crept over Yuan You at those words. She decided it best to shift a bit away from Yaoyao. She couldn’t shoulder the blame if harm came to her.
