"Pour me wine, bring out your most prized vintages, one after another."
Upon entering the room, Shi Yidao bellowed his demand.
"Fancy a drink? Why not sample this."
Liu Zheng produced a bottle of Silver Label.
He uncorked it, and the wine's bouquet wafted towards Shi Yidao like a delicate butterfly.
"Magnificent wine!"
Shi Yidao exclaimed, inhaling deeply several times.
"This brew is potent, give it to me, quickly!"
He urged impatiently.
"As you wish."
Liu Zheng presented the Silver Label before him.
Shi Yidao seized the bottle and tilted it back, his throat working like an infant nursing.
Just as Liu Zheng anticipated a swift emptying, Shi Yidao halted, even spitting a portion of the wine back into the container.
"Say, do you possess more of this particular vintage?"
Liu Zheng observed, puzzled, as Shi Yidao inquired.
"Not much remains."
He responded truthfully.
"Ah, so there is still some."
A sense of relief washed over Shi Yidao as he once again lifted the bottle and finished its contents.
"He was concerned that once this bottle was depleted, there would be no more."
Liu Zheng felt a mixture of amusement and irritation.
While the antics of those from Niu Ma were somewhat expected, seeing Shi Yidao, a hero of his era, reduced to such a state was surprising.
This deterioration surely wasn't solely due to the atmosphere of Metropolis, yet excessive drinking can indeed be ruinous.
"Another bottle?"
Liu Zheng retrieved a second bottle of Silver Label.
With Silver Gemstone in his possession, he could return to Yan Xu to replenish his stock, thus he wasn't inclined to be overly parsimonious.
"Wait..."
A significant concern suddenly occurred to Liu Zheng.
In numerous tales, dwarves are depicted as a race with a profound fondness for fine spirits, and Metropolis itself is a veritable paradise for drinkers; could Yan Xu have already depleted his supply?
The thought made him exceptionally anxious.
"Just two bottles of wine, is it truly that critical?"
Shi Yidao interpreted Liu Zheng's hesitation as reluctance to part with his drink and scoffed.
He had just handed over five million to Liu Zheng; no matter the cost, this wine couldn't possibly equate to dozens of bottles.
"No, I fear my wine is like a hen under the watchful eye of a weasel."
Liu Zheng disclosed the arrangement he had with Yan Xu.
"Hmph, a promise kept is as precious as gold. Had it been me, once I gave my word, I'd sooner perish of thirst..."
Shi Yidao trailed off mid-sentence.
"And what about you?"
Liu Zheng deliberately prompted.
"I wouldn't even take a sip of water; I'd ensure I emptied your wine before meeting my end."
Shi Yidao retorted with a snort.
"Drink, drink, drink, drink yourself into oblivion."
He flung the bottle towards Shi Yidao's chest.
Shi Yidao slid, dropping to his knees, catching the bottle with his mouth. He then snapped off the neck, crunching on the glass shards as he drank, as if he were savoring a delicacy with his wine.
"Why not try this? It's softer, easier to chew."
Liu Zheng tossed a few pieces of dried fish towards him.
Shi Yidao did not decline, promptly stuffing the dried fish into his mouth.
His expression, however, made it evident that Liu Zheng's words were not entirely unfounded.
Having appeased his hunger and thirst, Shi Yidao sprawled his large, hairy legs across the table, utterly unconcerned by the scant fabric barely concealing him.
"Ah!"
The twin ponytails feigned bashfulness, covering their eyes.
"Tell me, what is it you truly desire?"
Shi Yidao inquired with an air of authority.
"I require your signature on a delivery."
Liu Zheng stated his objective.
"Impossible. My own meager existence might not hold significant value, but I have no intention of bequeathing it to your Bloody Restaurant."
Shi Yidao refused outright.
"With your capabilities, a single delivery would hardly cost you your life."
Liu Zheng countered.
"A wolf tells a sheep it possesses abundant meat, suggesting that consuming a single piece won't be fatal; would the sheep lend credence to such a claim?"
Shi Yidao sneered.
"I am no wolf, merely a hound at best. And you are no sheep, but at least a wild buffalo."
He shook his head.
"A wild buffalo? Oh, haha!!!"
Shi Yidao erupted into boisterous laughter, reminiscent of an overly dramatic actor.
"You flatter me; I am merely a stray dog."
A self-deprecating smile reappeared on his face, this time directed inwards.
"If you are indeed a stray dog, then you lack the right to bare your teeth so fiercely before me."
At last, Liu Zheng's patience began to fray.
An intense killing intent directed at Shi Yidao caused the latter to instinctively straighten his posture.
As Shi Yidao leaned forward slightly, a subtle yet sharp aura emanated from his being, piercing through Liu Zheng's oppressive pressure.
"It appears your blade has not entirely turned to rust."
Liu Zheng remarked, raising an eyebrow.
"However, it is already chipped. I harbor no desire to end you; you may leave."
Shi Yidao abandoned his pretense of foolishness, speaking with newfound calmness.
"If I do not complete the delivery, I will be a dead man upon my return."
Liu Zheng stated grimly.
"That is of no concern to me."
Shi Yidao responded coldly.
"Does the identity of your son's murderer hold no relevance to you?"
Liu Zheng posed the pointed question.
He was unwilling to add more to his plate; though Shi Yidao’s account was touching, he already had far too many matters to attend to.
However, Shi Yidao remained resolute, his abilities not significantly dulled, compelling Liu Zheng to reveal his ultimate strategy.
"Oh?"
Shi Yidao's response deviated from Liu Zheng's expectations.
"Your reaction appears remarkably composed."
Liu Zheng fixed his gaze upon Shi Yidao.
Could the intelligence be flawed, and Shi Yidao had already come to terms with his son's murderer?
"Or perhaps? Should I wail uncontrollably, then eagerly implore you to divulge the true killer's identity, before vowing allegiance to you?"
Shi Yidao scoffed.
"In truth, I merely require your endorsement for a delivery. If you are set on acknowledging me as your superior, that arrangement is acceptable as well."
Liu Zheng offered a shrug.
"Do you realize the number of individuals who have claimed to have uncovered the actual assassin over the years? Many even presented the killer's head to me, seeking validation. Each presented a compelling narrative; I find myself unable to discern truth from fabrication."
