Xia Kai, accompanied by Niu Ma and Mother Niu Ma, leaves the Hundred Ghosts building after a tense encounter. While passing Jing Shang, Xia Kai notes his resentment but accepts he cannot seek immediate revenge. They separate into different elevators, each carrying a distinct passenger. Xia Kai is again struck down by a dark samurai who relays a message for Lord Liu Zheng. Upon exiting, they are met by Niu Daji, a subordinate of Liu Zheng and a junior leader of the Delivery Gang. After a brief interaction where Niu Ma attempts to accept a bribe, Niu Daji accompanies Xia Kai and explains his connection to Liu Zheng and the Bloody Restaurant, assuring Xia Kai that Liu Zheng will see him soon. They are then confronted by a Sphinx outside the clinic.

Approaching the Sphinx, Niu Daji and Xia Kai were met with a few moments of scrutiny before the creature slowly nodded its head."You may enter," the Sphinx declared.Niu Daji then turned to Xia Kai. "Brother Kai, this is Ms. Sphinx, the clinic's security supervisor."Xia Kai promptly offered a greeting. "Hello, Ms. Sphinx."The Sphinx briefly observed him before settling back down. Xia Kai awkwardly fiddled with his chin. "Don't mind Ms. Sphinx; she's quite reserved. Only the boss receives special treatment from her," Niu Daji explained. However, the Sphinx scoffed, "He's no different! Humph!" "Yes, yes, let's head inside," Niu Daji said, leading Xia Kai into the clinic.

A languid stretch from Liu Zheng was accompanied by him reaching for what he believed was the San Huamao in his arms. A peculiar stiffness and coarseness registered, prompting him to open his eyes. Before him lay not a cat, but a thick, hairy horse leg."Have you finished touching?" Niu Ma asked, her expression unreadable."Boss, your leg is truly... a leg," Liu Zheng responded, his tone matter-of-fact. "I'll count to three..." Niu Ma began, but before she could finish, Liu Zheng was already scrambling up. "Boss, when did you get back? Have you eaten? Should I order takeout for you?" he inquired eagerly.Niu Ma shot him a glare. "Do I need your permission to return? Ordering takeout, trying to get rid of me so you can seize the boss position, eh?" "No way, once a boss, always a boss. Even in death, you would be the eternal head of the takeout department," Liu Zheng declared earnestly."Get lost. I won't die," Niu Ma retorted dismissively, pushing aside the grass Liu Zheng had been sleeping on and lying down herself. "By the way, boss, where is Salmon?" Liu Zheng inquired. "Napoleon took her back," Niu Ma replied. "Oh." Liu Zheng checked his phone; it read 7:26. This marked his thirteenth day in Metropolis."Shouldn't you be rushing to bring breakfast? A single day without seeing you and you've lost all your initiative, huh?" Niu Ma said, patting the wall."Didn't you have breakfast with your wife?" Liu Zheng asked, curiosity piqued."Does eating once preclude me from eating again? That's the rule, understand? You country bumpkins lack insight," Niu Ma scoffed."Ah, yes, yes, we country folk are just like that," he appeased, inwardly rolling his eyes at the heavens. While they might lack insight, it was ironic that Niu Ma, a 'farmyard hillbilly,' considered herself superior. If not for marrying a tutor, she likely wouldn't recognize a bucket brimming with characters. However, arguing with someone like Niu Ma was futile. Liu Zheng resignedly opened the cabinet to retrieve the breakfast. Fortunately, today's meal, spicy soup with fried liver, was not his usual fare. Niu Ma consumed it all, though their eating pace suggested it wasn't a favored combination. "Reimbursement, thirty thousand," Niu Ma announced after the meal, presenting an invoice. The invoice's format was markedly different from standard ones, yet Liu Zheng grasped its general content. "Did you visit Bathhouse Street or an auto repair shop? Why are 'repair and maintenance' listed?" Liu Zheng questioned, shaking the invoice."Don't question it. Just tell me if you'll reimburse it or not?" Niu Ma replied haughtily."Yes, yes, I will. Your attitude when requesting reimbursement is appalling; try that with the finance department," he grumbled, producing the money."Hmph, if you were in finance, I'd show you more respect than I show my own father," Niu Ma sneered."So, we do have a finance department," Liu Zheng expressed surprise, as he had only been speaking casually."Of course, how could a restaurant not have finance? The current finance manager is a Zuifu Child and has held the position for centuries; her temperament is quite peculiar. Fortunately, our takeout department rarely interacts with her, saving us some trouble," Niu Ma explained. The kitchen required funds for ingredients and equipment replacement, customer service needed upkeep for decor and furniture, and even drivers required spare parts and fuel. The takeout department, however, required nothing and operated entirely on self-sufficiency, which was rather touching."I'd gladly endure her temper for a larger break room, perhaps with private rooms, walnut bed frames, and premium latex mattresses," Liu Zheng fantasized."Ha, then you should transfer to the kitchen or customer service. In the takeout department, you'll die before that ever happens," Niu Ma scoffed. In terms of material comforts, the takeout department significantly lagged behind others, with Niu Ma, its boss, even being outranked by long-serving employees in different sections. Yet, there was no alternative; the takeout department was the sole division permitted to operate outside.

When it came to Great Britain, there was a need for Liu Zheng to run errands; otherwise, he could only spoil his own department's employees. Meanwhile, Niu Ma could not only marry but also frequent the black market's pleasure shops. Failing to balance the sentiments of other departments would have been problematic.

"Boss, please cease testing my resolve. My loyalty lies with the takeout department. Even if other departments offered superior conditions, I would never consider a transfer."

Liu Zheng responded with a grin.

"Hmph, you earn hundreds of thousands to millions from your outside ventures, living a life of extravagance surrounded by women and laughing with City Hall officials; naturally, you wouldn't concern yourself with such treatment."

Niu Ma retorted, rolling her eyes.

If she occupied Liu Zheng's position, she wouldn't care either; the daily delivery of takeout was akin to a paid holiday, and only a fool would reject such a sweet opportunity for socializing and networking.
