THE VILLAIN'S POV Chapter 851 Fractured Origin (2)
Previously on THE VILLAIN'S POV...
Nameless’s gaze slowly returned to his younger self.
"What is he doing?" Frey inquired, bewildered, as he observed the child handling one of the inert creatures, playing with its deceased form.
The boy extended a hand towards the dead body, then withdrew it, only to reach out again—as if attempting to grasp something intangible, something that was not present.
"Watch carefully," Nameless stated softly. "Concentrate on what unfolds next."
A shared silence enveloped them.
They observed.
A peculiar child, waving his hand through empty space while clutching a lifeless creature.
Moments elapsed.
Then...
A shift occurred.
The hand moving through the air began to emit a faint glow.
Abruptly, something manifested… an enigmatic force.
It bore a resemblance to aura… yet it was distinct.
A flicker of grey energy, encircled by crimson undulations, pulsed with an power that felt alien… incomprehensible.
The young Nameless cautiously, almost fearfully, extended his hand towards the corpse.
The instant that peculiar energy made contact with the lifeless body…
It permeated within.
Directly before Frey's eyes.
Directly before Nameless's own.
The grey-red energy permeated the small corpse, and its form began to illuminate.
Its veins flared with light.
Every cell ignited.
A peculiar warmth spread through the cold, inanimate body.
And from nothingness... Something extraordinary came into being.
Frey’s eyes widened, his breath hitched as he stared intently.
The corpse twitched.
And from its depths… a heartbeat resonated.
Held in the hands of the young Nameless, the squirrel-like creature’s eyes snapped open… and it stood once more.
Revived.
As though death had never claimed it.
It seemed unaware of what had transpired. Upon seeing the child before it, the creature darted away—running with full vigor, unharmed, intact.
Frey remained rooted, dumbfounded.
But the one utterly more astonished—
Was the young Nameless himself.
His hand quivered uncontrollably... the very hand that had unleashed that peculiar power.
He recoiled, fear engulfing him, as though a dreaded outcome had just materialized.
Frey was poised to speak, to question the incredible event he had just witnessed.
Yet, the inquiry originated from another.
A new presence had intruded.
A chilling, heavy hand clamped down on the young Nameless’s arm.
And a frigid voice sliced through the quiet.
"What did you just do?"
The voice emanated from behind him.
Slowly… Nameless turned.
To find a man he had never encountered standing there.
He was tall, enveloped in a mysterious aura that made Nameless perceive him as something utterly different. Yet… the man shared similar physical traits... grey hair, cold, dark eyes, and a pale, lifeless complexion.
His attire was plain, unremarkable, offering no distinction from any ordinary individual. However, this simplicity only amplified his unsettling presence. There was an inherent wrongness about him.
Nameless found himself speechless. The man had witnessed everything – he had seen the miraculous event that had just occurred.
Under typical circumstances, such an occurrence would warrant immediate reporting… but this individual was far from typical.
"I see… you do not comprehend," the man stated calmly, before taking hold of Nameless and leading him away. No resistance was offered, no struggle ensued… Nameless possessed no means to oppose him.
He was transported to an unfamiliar location. Stranger still… he could not fathom how he had arrived there. His perception of space and time became distorted the moment he followed that man.
From that encounter onward… nothing felt natural anymore.
Nameless was confined within a desolate structure... barren, devoid of life, as if no one had ever resided there. The entire situation was deeply perplexing. Even after his abrupt disappearance, no one sought him… as if his very existence held no significance.
Later, he understood… the man had orchestrated something.
"I endured several years of imprisonment by that man," Nameless revealed, narrating the past events.
The man seldom appeared, leaving him isolated for extended periods. But whenever he did return… he brought something with him.
Corpses.
"Corpses of various creatures… from diverse origins."
At times, they were the remains of creatures from his own world. Other times, they were beings from entirely different species.
It was Nameless's first encounter with beings not originating from Krat… beings from a realm utterly alien to him.
"He desired me to replicate what I had done with that creature… but this time, with them."
The man compelled Nameless to attempt wielding that peculiar power once more. He wanted him to resurrect those corpses. Nameless had little recourse… so he complied, attempting repeatedly to recreate the past event.
Yet, on every single occasion… he faltered.
That man offered no words regarding those past failures. He would simply depart, leaving Nameless in solitude with the decaying corpses. Days would then drift by in isolation, the putrid bodies becoming his only companions.
Over an indeterminate period, Nameless acquired the skill to preserve the bodies, halting their rapid decomposition. Gradually… these became the sole possessions he held dear.
The man persisted, bringing more specimens. Each arrival presented a new variety, a different species, something utterly unique. Consequently, the study of these varied creatures became Nameless's singular focus.
He was incapable of reviving them—every attempt met with failure. Yet, he did succeed in manifesting a peculiar power… a peculiar grey-red energy, foreign to that world.
Following an immense number of failed attempts, the man finally uttered words—one of the rare instances Nameless ever experienced his voice.
"Your very being is aberrant. Your sense of self is shattered… the power my master covets resides within you, yet you cannot bring it forth."
His voice carried an icy detachment, utterly devoid of feeling. He then turned, opening a door that had remained sealed to Nameless until that moment.
"You are at liberty to depart. You are no longer of any consequence to me."
He abandoned him… leaving him solitary, enveloped by an expanse of corpses. Countless remains, each representing a distinct race. That marked the final encounter Nameless had with that man.
A figure who, in all probability, had introduced him to nearly every known sentient being in the material realm. He had even procured the remains of demons, beings of Light, celestial inhabitants… and humans.
"It was peculiar… his appearance before me was not by mere chance," Nameless recounted from the present, his voice tranquil.
"I possessed no knowledge of his identity then, nor of his purpose. He carried an… imposing aura. It felt as though he perpetually observed me, scrutinizing my every action. Defiance was unthinkable."
"Later… I finally grasped the ultimate truth concerning him. I comprehended why I felt so utterly insignificant in his presence, despite our apparent similarities."
"That individual was the Great One of my lineage… the Great One of Krat."
"A being dispatched to me… for reasons beyond my comprehension. But he undoubtedly sought the power I had demonstrated."
Nameless elaborated, unveiling the lasting impact of that encounter—how it molded him, how it forged the individual he would eventually become.
Those revelations… only intensified the profound existential turmoil he was enduring.
A life out of balance… a personality torn asunder.
These thoughts compelled him to scrutinize his origins with unprecedented intensity, urging him to unearth the truth behind the extraordinary abilities with which he was born.
He craved understanding.
To attain this comprehension, Nameless discerned the necessity of fully grasping the universal laws governing life and death… and achieving mastery over them. The multitude of corpses surrounding him had already provided the nascent clue.
That singular power dwelling within him became the wellspring of his influence over life and cessation… the very genesis of all that transpired.
A seed sown within his core… subsequent to his defining encounter with the Great One of Krat.
