In the shattered wastelands left by the clash between Frey and Thanatos, Maskith arrived to study the lingering Life and Death formation that Nameless used to imprison Thanatos' soul, impressed by its power rivaling his own mastery. He pondered their parallel yet distinct paths in manipulating life and death, sensing a rare eagerness for confrontation. Detecting a hidden presence, he confronted Wesker possessing Vayne's body, revealing the limits of Wesker's incomplete soul-transfer ability and warning against targeting Nameless. Wesker, having overheard Maskith's talk with Amon, prepared to state his purpose.

"As you know, I've lived for quite a long time. Not nearly as long as you… but long enough to see many things. Especially because of this eye the King gave me."

He pointed toward the King's Eye bulging from his forehead.

Maskith's eyes narrowed faintly at the view.

The present Wesker surpassed his former strength by far.

He wielded two of the King's world-shattering powers, standing alone with multiples—save for the First High Demon, Crimson.

Such a feat with a flawed, unfinished ability revealed the true dread of his invented might.

Cunning marked Wesker.

Concealing anything from him proved nearly impossible.

With a weightier voice, he pressed on:

"Long ago, I discovered the Great King Agaroth's fascination with a hidden project—kept secret from all others. Only a select few knew it even existed."

Wesker circled Maskith gradually as he spoke.

"I think it was named… the Cloning Project, wasn't it?"

That name brought a smile to Maskith's lips.

"You're truly bold," he chuckled lightly. "To mention that right in front of me."

"You know I could kill you right here… don't you?"

Wesker gave a subtle nod, his smile unwavering.

"I know full well. But I believe you won't… and my continued life proves it."

"Arrogant yet daring," Maskith responded with delight. "Fine by me. The King relishes types like you… and who am I to snuff out such fun?"

Maskith burst into loud laughter before answering Wesker's claim.

"Yes, a project like that did exist."

"But it collapsed—utterly and dramatically."

"It failed to achieve its aim."

Wesker nodded thoughtfully.

"I know that much."

"And doesn't the fruit of that failure linger among us still…?"

His tone deepened a touch.

"The fruit… became the present Eleventh High Demon—Amon."

In that instant, a buried secret surfaced.

Maskith's mind slipped back to those days.

To when his dominion over life and death drove a covert endeavor—born from a deal with Agaroth.

The Cloning Project.

The effort sought to birth vessels—authentic lifeforms—through mimicry.

Maskith harnessed his power to copy living beings, forging imperfect duplicates in his tests.

He began with lesser creatures.

Step by step, he tackled mightier ones.

The project's grand aim: produce a vessel sturdy enough to bear the Demon King's full force.

Via that vessel, Agaroth could shatter the seal Nameless imposed, trapping him in Helmond.

The Demon King started indifferent.

But with Maskith's proposal, Agaroth agreed on impulse and engaged.

In the end, Maskith couldn't duplicate Agaroth.

The Demon King was too intricate—too perverse for replication, even blending Agaroth's boundless might with Maskith's life-death command.

Though they missed recreating Agaroth…

Maskith crafted a stunning replica of the demon ranking just beneath him.

The First High Demon—Crimson.

And that very moment…

Saw Amon's creation.

"Amon isn't a real demon," Maskith declared steadily.

"He's a demon forged in a lab."

Amon marked Maskith's pinnacle success.

A perfect lifeform packed with colossal power and chilling potential.

Born as a copy of Crimson, the Red Moon, his looks mirrored it strikingly.

His powers stemmed from that too.

Amon's Transparent World amounted to a weaker echo of Crimson's Red Domain.

Both powers spread fields over battlegrounds, triggering diverse impacts.

Amon had been built as a prospective vessel for Agaroth.

But despite his toughness, he fell short as a fit shell for the Demon King.

When trying to take the King's total power—

He came perilously close to death.

So the project met its doom.

Even so, amid the flop, Amon seized something remarkable.

After drawing in a sliver of the Demon King's power, he stirred a horrifying world-breaking ability.

A catastrophic force branded forbidden across Helmond.

No soul permitted to learn of it.

Just three entities possessed knowledge of it.

Agaroth himself.

Crimson.

And Maskith.

Of course, Maskith shared none of this with Wesker.

He simply confessed that Amon served as a copy of Crimson.

"That is astonishing," Wesker said, visibly captivated.

"I cannot believe your mastery over life and death elevated you to such heights."

"Would the Demon Seed Project count as a further development of that research?"

Maskith nodded.

"The Demon Seed was only a side project."

"It sought to implant the mind of a mighty being into a frail vessel—producing a puppet that could be commanded."

At those words, Wesker's fist tightened without thought.

The sheer peril of the figure standing before him dawned on him fully.

He possesses the power to duplicate horrors like Crimson…

And he devised that terrifying Demon Seed…

'Maskith… what in the world are you?'

Dread surged through him from that notion.

Legends described Maskith as timelessly ancient, a being who existed prior to even Agaroth and Manus.

Uncovering his true roots proved utterly futile.

He represented a force beyond control or provocation.

Thus, Wesker dismissed the idea before it could take root.

"I wish to propose a pact… should you agree," Wesker stated, flashing a grin.

Maskith arched a brow.

"What sort of pact?"

"A pact…"

"To forge a fresh duplicate—vastly more potent than Amon."

The ex-Fourth-Rank Demon's grin broadened while he laid out his scheme to Maskith, relentlessly chasing grander ambitions.

Their subsequent conversation stayed veiled in shadows...

Concealed from every other soul's gaze.
