THE VILLAIN'S POV Chapter 805 After Death Was Challenged
Previously on THE VILLAIN'S POV...
While every faction finalized their preparations for the ultimate clash…
The Shadow Sect was hit by news that rocked them like a seismic shock.
Fulghor—the massive War General—rushed toward the central headquarters where Gehrman was positioned.
He wasn't by himself.
Abraham was with him.
The latter appeared profoundly disturbed. And similarly… the Shadow Sect's War General showed clear strain on his face.
In mere moments, that anxiety rippled through all those gathered there.
"Frey has vanished. No sign of him anywhere."
Abraham declared first.
Fulghor spoke right after.
"Gehrman… you sensed it as well, right?"
The man with blue eyes remained seated, encircled by humanity's top champions and the most powerful leaders.
The Pantheon representatives were there too. They had all been planning their following strategy.
Yet everything froze the instant they detected it from a distance.
"Massive surges of violent aura… an immense quantity…"
"That… belongs to Thanatos. No doubt about it."
Fulghor's words rang with absolute confidence.
"Thanatos is battling somebody. And that somebody is probably—"
"Frey." Gehrman finished the thought, grasping perfectly what Fulghor meant.
However, from his look—his response—Fulghor grasped a vital point.
Gehrman hadn't been aware.
"You didn't dispatch him?"
Gehrman shook his head.
"I did not."
Which implied…
Frey had acted completely independently… without notifying a soul.
"What in the world is he doing?!" roared Nova Starlight, his rage plain in his tone.
"He goes off solo now, right when we need him most? And didn't you mention that this Thanatos is at the pinnacle of SSS rank?!"
Nova's outburst made the grim expressions in the room deepen further.
"The absolute summit of SSS. We're discussing the seventh stage. Frey Starlight just advanced to the first recently. He'll get obliterated facing him!" Inver Sunlight chimed in.
"We have to rush and rescue him right away!"
Numerous heroes of humanity demanded the same… pushing to hurry to Frey's side no matter the price.
But…
Silence persisted from the Shadow Sect's group.
They stayed quiet briefly.
"What's the matter with you lot? Why isn't anyone speaking up?!" Nova bellowed once more, shocked by the Shadow Sect's icy calm.
Fulghor's next words, though, muted the entire room… and intensified the emergency.
"Frey Starlight… I'm unsure when he mastered the technique, but he's raised a barrier around the site of his duel with Thanatos."
"So what about it?!"
Fulghor hesitated a second before replying.
"The barrier's incredibly strong. He set it up on purpose… to mask the fierce aura bursts from their confrontation."
He breathed out steadily.
"And I believe he aimed to stop the demons from meddling too."
"Meaning…" Fulghor's voice grew graver.
"Now that we've picked up on their auras… it's probable that…"
Gehrman voiced the conclusion.
"The fight is over. The outcome is set."
That revelation truly froze their blood.
Particularly for Abraham Starlight, whose balled fist almost exploded with power.
"If we head there now," Gehrman went on steadily, "all we'll discover is a wrecked battlefield… destruction… the winner… and the loser's body."
A heavy quiet descended.
Many gulped nervously, a terrifying dread washing over them.
"You're saying… there's nothing we can do?" a voice croaked out.
"Exactly right," Gehrman confirmed.
For the first time, the blue-eyed man seemed troubled.
No matter his vast wisdom…
No matter all he commanded…
He hadn't anticipated this.
"Frey Starlight…"
Gehrman pondered silently.
'That youth isn't foolish. He's fully aware Thanatos outmatches him. Even with some game-changing new power… triumph over a peak-stage foe like that is almost unattainable.'
'Then… why?'
Why would Frey take such a bold, solitary step… without seeking counsel from anyone?
He'd boxed them out completely.
Left them powerless to intervene.
"I fail to grasp you humans… or you warriors of the Shadow Sect."
A fresh voice cut in.
It belonged to the Dragon Emperor… Kalameet.
He uttered it with haughty disdain, arms folded across his torso.
"Frey Starlight is a fighter who picked his fight and charged into it by choice. So why do I witness you all mourning here?"
Kalameet advanced, pointing toward the source of the colossal aura outburst.
"You pin your highest expectations on him… but lack the trust to think he can endure one fight."
His piercing golden eyes scanned the group.
"If that's how little belief you have in him… then there's no victory in sight for the war ahead."
His statement pierced sharply.
And as soon as he concluded…
Kalameet gradually ascended into the sky.
Fulghor shouted to him.
"What are you planning to do?"
"Is it not obvious?" Kalameet responded coolly.
"I will go and see with my own eyes."
Kalameet added before going on...
"I will witness the result of the battle picked by the one known as… Frey Starlight. I planned to encounter him anyway."
As the Dragon Emperor prepared to leave, numerous onlookers swiftly trailed after him.
Leading the group were Abraham and Fulghor, both voicing their desire to join.
"You were right, Dragon Emperor," Fulghor stated evenly. "We must place our faith in him… and his abilities."
A blaze of golden energy surged around Fulghor, wrapping everyone nearby in his aura and hoisting them up together.
"Let us depart… and behold with our own eyes the fight he selected."
In a flash...
They rocketed skyward with incredible velocity. Fulghor steered their path, guiding them to the Empire's former territory… straight to the spot where Frey Starlight and Thanatos Adamos had battled.
Second by second, their facial expressions darkened further.
Particularly for Abraham Starlight.
'He stayed by my side… so close… but I couldn't sense his purpose. I couldn't grasp why he disappeared…'
He faulted himself... for failing to ever fully comprehend his son.
Yet he buried the remorse.
And opted to trust him.
But just moments afterward...
That trust faltered.
And morphed into terror.
Why?
For they spotted it.
They glimpsed the battlefield from a distance...
Gazing at it with eyes almost popping out.
Every one of them quietly posed the identical query.
"Is that… really a battlefield?"
A valid inquiry.
Since it resembled nothing of the sort.
Sprawling ahead...
A gigantic whirlpool had taken shape.
An enormous spiral that engulfed not just the capital, Belgrade…
But the whole Empire.
Dark, booming blue lightning raged fiercely within—thunderous and wild.
Twisted amid it lay a malevolent purple tempest.
"An Aura Tempest…" Gehrman whispered, his eyes narrowing.
A natural event... spawned from the ear-shattering collision of two otherworldly auras surpassing every boundary.
Shielded by his golden aura, Fulghor plunged through the gale, withstanding the howling strikes of aura-lightning.
Shortly after...
They broke through to the far side.
And the sight that awaited them…
Rendered them mute.
"The Empire… lies utterly obliterated…"
A whole continent...
Smashed to pieces.
Neighboring oceans had boiled into frenzy, devouring the leftovers from every angle.
The Empire existed no more as solid ground...
Only fragmented isles, ripped asunder by the raw ferocity of the strikes traded by the combatants here.
Island by island plunged under relentless swells, consumed by the furious waters ensnared in the massive whirlpool.
The Shadow Sect envoys pressed further into the blaze.
All utterly shocked.
Incapable of speaking a word.
At this point...
Just one matter burned in their thoughts.
The outcome.
Who emerged victorious?
Who perished?
Amid such catastrophe...
Amid such wreckage...
Who remained upright?
For a brief instant, a terrifying vision flashed through their heads.
A horror no one desired to see.
Thanatos… victorious and proud.
And next to him...
Frey Starlight.
Shrunk to mere remains.
A subservient minion.
That idea alone choked them.
Yet shortly...
They arrived at the core.
And discovered the reality they sought.
There...
On a lone chunk of earth fully ringed by the furious waves...
The sea's infernal tides refused to near that precise place.
As if in fear of it.
As if honoring the figure atop it.
The Shadow Sect fighters landed there...
Eyes bulging.
Breathing stopped.
Jaws nearly dropping...
As they gazed upon the conqueror of that slaughter.
