THE VILLAIN'S POV Chapter 761: A Battlefield Unfit for Mortals (2)
Previously on THE VILLAIN'S POV...
Firstly, Amon possessed the capability to assault his foe from every conceivable angle inside the domain.
This approach was exactly what he had employed against Gehrman and Abraham previously... and it was the same tactic he now used against Frey.
Secondly, within the Transparent World, Amon gained an endless supply of aura.
To put it differently, exhaustion wouldn't touch him during the fight, provided he stayed inside the barrier.
But there was more to it.
"Because it's a spatial power, your teleportation won't let you break free from it."
The Transparent World confined Frey's teleportation strictly to the area enclosed by the barrier.
Going outside was impossible for him.
Thus, if Frey wanted to flee, he'd need to dash out of the domain using his own legs.
However, the Transparent World shifted along with Amon's location.
In simpler terms...
As long as Amon kept up the chase at short range, Frey had no hope of getting away.
Worsening the situation even further...
Amon already outpaced Frey in speed.
Flight was out of the question.
"You're genuinely formidable, vessel of Nameless..."
Amon remarked with steady calm, his grin unchanging.
"Yet the instant you entered my realm, defeat was sealed for you."
This explained why Amon's face stayed composed... without a single flicker.
Observing the clash from a distance, Gehrman scowled while working to steady his vessel.
"Such a frustrating power..."
Spatial powers had forever been a headache to confront.
Crimson's Red World.
Amon's Transparent World.
They stood as ideal illustrations.
"Sixth Stage of SSS-class... assault velocity exceeding even my own... plus a spatial domain of this caliber..."
"And he's concealing yet another skill... one said to conclude the fight the second it's unleashed."
Ghrman's face grew somber as he realized the true peril posed by the demon facing them.
"Apart from Agaroth... it's no overstatement to rank him among the top three mightiest demons alive, together with Crimson and Gael."
Gehrman drew this judgment from his instincts... factoring in the mysterious forbidden power Amon kept hidden.
Amon remained an utter mystery.
Particularly that banned strength.
And even absent that...
He proved deadly all the same.
The confrontation had hit a pivotal stage.
Frey found himself utterly trapped.
Still, composure held him as he frantically hunted for an exit from the overwhelming force.
His thoughts whirled at breakneck pace... while through his Void Eyes, time dragged on at a sluggish crawl.
"What to do...? If his words ring true, prolonging this fight serves no purpose."
"While he's inside this domain, his strength knows no bounds..."
The sole route to triumph...
The only route visible to Frey...
involved breaking free from the Transparent World's reach and hitting Amon from afar with a crushing strike that could finish him off.
However, Frey's strikes lacked the might to slay Amon.
Triumph lay beyond grasp.
Nameless arrived at the identical verdict.
"Your abilities have surged impressively, Frey... yet this foe demands SSS-class breakthrough to defeat."
Once he surpassed that barrier, each of Frey's powers would amplify vastly—empowering his blows to wreak havoc on enemies such as Amon.
"Rather than aiming to eliminate him, focus on the best strategy to stall him and flee with your life..."
"...while also safeguarding your father and sister."
Nameless commented as he tracked the fight's developments.
He mentioned little regarding Gehrman... who evidently could handle his own defense.
"Though I claimed otherwise before... handing control to me could enable his death."
"That choice isn't wise, however."
Nameless' gaze shimmered as he reviewed every facet of the skirmish.
"Should I seize your body at this point, he'll likely trigger that hidden power right away."
"Given his assurance... he trusts that power can bind me if required."
Nameless based his evaluation on Amon's prior statements and actions toward Frey.
It was evident...
Amon had anticipated battling Nameless, rather than Frey.
That demon wasn't naive.
He knew full well Nameless' threat level... and still displayed eagerness for combat.
"I can't say what he's withholding... but for the moment, we should presume it can at least contain me."
Hence...
Amon couldn't be pushed to deploy it.
But Frey stood no chance alone.
Thus, the situation hit an impasse.
"He's more troublesome than Wesker..."
Frey conceded inwardly, depending solely on his Void Eyes to counter the relentless storm of assaults raining down.
With each ticking moment...
the conclusion loomed nearer.
Amon's scarlet eyes blazed with a horrifying crimson glow as victory felt assured.
"The next gap I spot..."
"I'll deliver a strike from which you'll never rise."
What escaped Frey's knowledge...
was the extra edge the Transparent World bestowed on Amon.
He could condense the domain's full might into one cataclysmic blow.
Although that would shatter the Transparent World at once... it promised unmatched devastation.
Amon felt certain Frey wouldn't endure it...
not even with his freakish healing gift.
Killing him wasn't the goal.
Amon sought to maim him...
to render him teetering on the brink of oblivion.
Afterward, Amon planned to seize Frey... plus Abraham...
and butcher the rest without mercy.
"Now!! Time to wrap this up!!"
Amon bellowed with wild laughter, a bone-chilling cackle that sent shivers racing,
as Frey gritted his teeth, battling the clock for any salvation.
Amid Amon... now convinced of triumph... and Frey trapped at a crossroads...
darkness abruptly engulfed everything.
Space itself trembled violently, signaling an approaching disaster.
Both Frey and Amon halted in their tracks.
Stunned horror and incredulity etched plainly on their features,
as icy dread pierced their forms.
In another spot...
Gehrman gradually shut his eyes.
"...Finally."
The man with blue eyes murmured quietly, bracing for the inevitable.
Frey and Amon had been utterly absorbed in their duel.
Neither detected the unfolding events...
until escape proved impossible.
The earth below them decayed in an eerie fashion, desiccating entirely, as though some force had siphoned every trace of vitality.
Dark mist engulfed both soil and sky, while icy gales howled from all sides.
Amon came to an abrupt stop.
He swiveled toward one specific spot, furrowing his brow deeply.
"What sort of foreboding sensation is this... curse it?"
Seizing Amon's momentary pause,
Frey pulled back swiftly, creating space between them.
He paused his Void usage briefly too, seeking relief from its brutal toll.
Even so, he couldn't afford to overlook the chaos unfolding.
