The urgent voices of Lao Bai and Lao Hei reverberated in his mind. Ye Chenfeng also grasped the terrifying nature of the so-called Brain-Eating Ghost Insect, otherwise Lao Bai and Lao Hei wouldn't have been so grave about it. He observed Luo Qianjiang and Jin Hongsheng, whose auras were also surging, realizing an escape at maximum speed was utterly impossible, as they would undoubtedly block him. A rustling sound emanated from distant bushes to the right, and two figures rapidly advanced their position. These individuals were elders, one at the Initial Stage and the other at the Middle Stage of the Heavenly God Realm, serving as ancestors to two major Sects in Central State. Decked in black and white attire, these two elders approached Luo Qianjiang and Jin Hongsheng with smiles. The elder in black chuckled, stating, "Brother Luo, Brother Jin, what a remarkable coincidence. You've managed to cross paths with Ye Chenfeng quite swiftly! It appears making you owe a favor will be a challenge." Luo Qianjiang and Jin Hongsheng remained oblivious to the awakening Brain-Eating Ghost Insect beneath them. They exchanged greetings with the black and white-robed elders, yet their gazes remained fixed on Ye Chenfeng, denying him any chance of evasion. Ye Chenfeng’s mind worked furiously. If the spatial laws weren't restricted here, he would be unconcerned; he could simply transport Bai Xiaorou and Tan Yuanwu into the Chaos Ring's small world. However, with Bai Xiaorou and Tan Yuanwu currently injured, and facing obstruction from Luo Qianjiang and Jin Hongsheng, evading this forest at the necessary speed was nearly impossible. The black and white-robed elders, unaware of Ye Chenfeng's true combat prowess, presumed a swift conclusion. With Tan Yuanwu, the strongest of the trio, heavily wounded, only Ye Chenfeng, who was at the Initial Stage of the Fifth Layer of the Heavenly God Realm, remained, presenting what they believed to be an easy target! As the auras within the black and white-robed elders surged, the air cracked with incessant sounds. Fissures spread across the ground, engulfing the surrounding forest floor. Soon, a distinct buzzing noise, akin to swarming mosquitoes, filled the air. This abrupt development left everyone present, except Ye Chenfeng, momentarily bewildered. Ye Chenfeng softly cautioned Bai Xiaorou and Tan Yuanwu, "Be alert; if anything happens, we must immediately break out of the forest." The 'buzz buzz! buzz buzz!' sound persisted. The ground vibrations near the black and white-robed elders intensified, though the noise originating from beneath Ye Chenfeng and his companions was less pronounced. As Luo Qianjiang, Jin Hongsheng, and the black and white-robed elders snapped out of their confusion, intending to question each other about the unfolding situation, several black dots suddenly erupted from the ground near the black and white-robed elders, moving with incredible speed. Each black dot, no larger than a fingernail, swiftly and decisively flew towards the nearby black and white-robed elders. Despite the formidable strength of the black and white-robed elders, who were at the Seventh Layer of the Heavenly God Realm, they promptly erected a spiritual energy shield. However, they had gravely underestimated the potency of these black dots, which effortlessly disintegrated the spiritual energy protection, rendering it useless. As their spiritual defenses dissolved, the black and white-robed elders attempted to react, but it was futile. All the black dots penetrated their foreheads, burrowing into their heads. "Ah! Ah!"agonized screams tore from the elders' throats as they clutched their heads, veins throbbing, their faces contorted in agony. The spiritual energy within their bodies surged to its limits, desperately trying to expel the foreign invaders, yet to no avail. The black and white-robed elders collapsed onto one knee, experiencing an excruciating sensation as if something was gnawing at their brains. Sweat drenched their attire, and relentless cries of pain escaped their lips. Their hands tightened relentlessly around their heads, ultimately crushing their own skulls with sickening 'bang, bang!' sounds. Thus, two powerful cultivators at the Seventh Layer of the Heavenly God Realm met their end so abruptly and easily? The lifeless bodies of the black and white-robed elders lay sprawled on the ground, their skulls utterly devoid of brain matter. This time, Ye Chenfeng and the others clearly discerned that the black dots burrowing into their brains were, in fact, minuscule black insects, each roughly the size of a fingernail. These insects resembled tiny caterpillars, distinguished by multiple pairs of wings along their bodies. Initially, their speed had rendered them too quick for Ye Chenfeng and his companions to identify their true form.
Black insects relentlessly consumed the gray matter within the skulls of the elders, clad in robes of black and white, as they shifted back and forth.
Seizing this critical moment,
Ye Chenfeng, who had been anticipating such a turn of events, urgently addressed Bai Xiaorou and Tan Yuanwu, "Quickly, we must depart at once."
He now fully grasped that these abhorrent creatures were none other than Brain-Eating Ghost Insects.
However, no sooner had Ye Chenfeng uttered these words, than
a multitude of dense black dots erupted from the ground in every direction, rapidly ascending into the heavens. Ye Chenfeng and his companions, attempting to make their escape, found themselves inevitably facing these swarming Brain-Eating Ghost Insects head-on.
Virtually every conceivable path of egress was obstructed by these fearsome insects, and in that precise instant, they were completely encircled, leaving not a single opening for escape.
Luo Qianjiang and Jin Hongsheng, witnessing this dire situation, finally snapped back to their senses. Despite the fact that Brain-Eating Ghost Insects had been considered extinct in the Tian Xuan Realm for untold ages, they, as venerable ancestors of the Xiao Yao Palace and the Jin clan respectively, had perused numerous ancient texts, which included detailed accounts of these very insects.
It was in this manner that they identified the origin of the swarming vermin.
Infamous for their terrifying prowess, even formidable cultivators at the Divine King Realm harbored a deep dread of encountering Brain-Eating Ghost Insects.
Now, faced with the overwhelming multitude of these predatory insects, the expressions of Luo Qianjiang and Jin Hongsheng became exceedingly grim.
