After the sky-blue barrier shattered, Li Yuanmu recalled his Sky-Cleaving Blade and led Divine King powerhouses like Luo Qianjiang into the Ancient City of Heavenly Origin, confronting Yun Rong, Tan Yuanwu, and their defiant allies in the square. The invaders demanded restraints in the Sea of Consciousness for pavilion members and meridian seals for Ye Chenfeng's close associates, threatening death amid self-righteous accusations. As auras surged for battle, Wu Lingxiang and Jiang Caixuan scattered Quicksand of Death, instantly turning four Initial Stage Divine King Ancestors black and shattering their bodies, leaving all stunned.

Quicksand of Death.

A treasure erased from history's records long ago.

Legends claim that in the Ancient Era's Initial Stage, Quicksand of Death proved extraordinarily scarce, bordering on mythical.

During the Ancient Era's early days, even a small portion of Quicksand of Death sold for astronomical sums at auctions. With the passage of endless ages, it dwindled rarer in the world, ultimately vanishing entirely.

Quicksand of Death forms a peculiar sort of sand. It seems indistinguishable from common sand outwardly. But when it meets dirt or earth, it unleashes savage death energy that races ahead. Cultivators below the Divine Venerable Realm struck by this force suffer their flesh swiftly eroded by the death energy, ending in a hideous, bursting demise.

Powerhouses at the Divine King Realm's Peak stand no chance against Quicksand of Death after contact.

Figures like Luo Qianjiang among Divine King Realm experts top out at the later Divine King Realm stages. Little surprise Wu Lingxiang called deploying Quicksand of Death against them a squander.

Wu Lingxiang and Jiang Caixuan's Quicksand of Death came into their families—the Wus and Jiangs—by sheer accident. These neighboring clans frequently sparred in rivalry.

An elder from the Wu family and one from the Jiang family stumbled upon this Quicksand of Death amid a valley skirmish, unearthing it dramatically from a rock face.

Though the found Quicksand of Death amounted to little, it swiftly roused the ancestors of both Wu and Jiang families.

The two families' ancestors examined it and deemed the sand-laden stone wall the Stone of Darkness, from which Quicksand of Death supposedly emerges and endures.

In the end, Wu and Jiang ancestors split the Quicksand of Death evenly. As top talents of their clans, Wu Lingxiang and Jiang Caixuan assumed they claimed most of it.

To wield Quicksand of Death, Cultivators require unique gloves lest the inner death energy corrode them. Notably, its energy surges solely forward upon ground contact, never rearward.

Across the expansive plaza in the Ancient City of Heavenly Origin.

Wu Lingxiang and Jiang Caixuan each flung a fistful of Quicksand of Death downward, shredding four Initial Stage Divine King Realm ancestors, as the dark energy surged onward relentlessly.

Witnessing four Divine King Realm ancestors' corpses abruptly crumble, Luo Qianjiang's allies gulped in dread yet snapped back and fled at once.

Yet the ground's black energy advanced with terrifying speed. Yun Zhen, head of the Yun family, spotting it nearing his feet, bellowed in panic: "Everyone fly up, so the black on the ground cannot reach us."

Believing he'd cracked it, Yun Zhen vaulted skyward instantly. The rest, stunned by the chaos, had overlooked Sky Command Flight until his cry jolted them awake.

Relief never came.

Black energy already lapped under Yun Zhen. Though his feet left the earth, as it crept beneath, dizziness struck him abruptly; his inner spiritual energy churned slowly. Sensing his inner turmoil, horror warped his features while he flailed to ascend further.

Regrettably, some mysterious force robbed him of bodily command progressively. Soon, he helplessly witnessed his form crashing earthward.

Body hurtling down, Yun Zhen's visage brimmed with dread and remorse. Had he foreseen this, he'd never sought shelter here. Eyes locking on distant Yun Rong, he begged: "Ancestor, I-I was wrong, I don’t want to die, please save me."

Yun Rong still reeled from Quicksand of Death's might.

A resounding "bang" marked Yun Zhen's plunge, black energy swarming him swiftly. Fully cloaked in darkness, his form exploded apart.

Simultaneously.

Shrieks pierced the sky. Grasping Sky Command Flight's futility, all unleashed max velocity in frenzy.

Wu Lingxiang and Jiang Caixuan stayed alert meanwhile, hurling Quicksand of Death across other plaza flanks to block Luo Qianjiang and company from detours.

Wu Lingxiang and Jiang Caixuan exhausted their full stock of Quicksand of Death by scattering it in various directions across the plaza. Though the death energy inside expanded swiftly, its range was bound to be restricted in the end.

Several minutes later.

The expansion of the Quicksand of Death finally ceased. Luo Qianjiang, Zhao Wanfu, Jin Hongsheng, and Li Yuanmu successfully fled. Likewise, Luo Youfang, Jin Yangcai, Sun Changnian, and Lin Shouping escaped the death energy's grasp with their assistance, just barely.

As subordinates of Luo Qianjiang and the rest, Luo Youfang and Jin Yangcai received natural support. Sun Changnian and Lin Shouping, as alchemists and artifact refiners, proved invaluable to powerful factions, so no one left them behind. The other members of the alliance? They ignored their doom. Rescuing them from the Quicksand of Death was far too perilous.

Li Yuanmu and Luo Qianjiang scanned the area, seeing the ground covered in mangled corpses. So many had entered the Ancient City, but only a few survived? Worse still, those four Initial Stage Divine King Realm ancestors from rival forces had fallen too?

Right then, Li Yuanmu and the others could no longer stay composed. Fury boiled over inside them, erasing any prior thoughts of mercy toward the folks from the Alchemy Pavilion, Artifact Refinement Pavilion, Talisman Master Pavilion, and Array Magic Pavilion. After this outrage, forgiveness was impossible. As the black energy's spread stalled and began to recede, their faces contorted further in rage.

They knew of the Quicksand of Death by reputation, but this marked their first encounter. From what they recalled, the death energy's diffusion had a strict time limit. Indeed, now it appeared to be fading away.

Li Yuanmu roared toward the plaza, his voice dripping with malice: "You’re all going to die. I want you all dead. You’ve succeeded in angering me, and you will pay for what you’ve done."
