The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] Chapter 1345: What the Numbers Say
Previously on The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL]...
As one could expect, one particular guardian mecha was entirely against part of the narrative.
Now, to be fair, Sid most definitely understood the problem and the fact that they weren’t particularly suited to fighting in such tight spaces like a subterranean tunnel.
After all, mechas were primarily designed for combat in environments where they could maneuver freely, and while their frames were more than capable of withstanding the occasional collision, that didn’t mean they should deliberately go around smashing themselves against walls or each other, especially when there were far better ways to make use of everyone’s time and effort!
So when Young Lord Jax suggested that the others take advantage of their sentient companions’ autonomy and the guaranteed safety of their personal cockpits to return to the dungeon space and make their way to Young Lord Kyle’s location, Sid readily agreed that the mechas could stay behind and handle the enemy on their own.
After all, considering the unprecedented amount of resources invested in someone like him, surely he could be trusted to handle something like this on his own, right?
Definitely.
In fact, Sid was rather confident that he could handle the situation without much difficulty, allowing them to reunite with their comrades as early as possible.
But then he remembered that he wasn’t the only one around.
And suddenly, the guardian mecha started fearing for everyone’s lives.
Because what was he supposed to do with this crazy one?!
More importantly, why was he even indulging this absurd obsession with showing off?!
The most self-aware sentient mecha thought about his poor situation with the firm intention of finally setting things straight.
Yes, this time, he was definitely going to put his foot down!
Unfortunately, one unassuming D-64 couldn’t help wondering just how and when that had ever worked.
Now, as a youngster who’d only recently begun learning about the world, D-64 naturally looked to the older beings around it for guidance.
After all, they were the ones who made the little system feel safe and protected, and over time, they’d become its most precious treasures.
Even more precious than its prized stickers and the beautiful rocks it had been carefully collecting!
And that was really saying something, considering just how much the youngster loved its rocks!
But D-64 was slowly beginning to understand that some treasures were special in ways that had nothing to do with how shiny they were.
That was why, ever since getting to know everyone, and especially after recently discovering that it was capable of doing a little more than before, the diligent youngster had made it a point to observe them as closely as possible, hoping to learn enough to gradually grow into a dependable system that could one day protect its own precious treasures.
And naturally, it kept a diary!
A very important diary, in fact, filled with observations about the wonderful beings D-64 admired and all the interesting things they did every day.
And among its many discoveries, one in particular concerned the coolest mecha and the bestest system.
According to D-64’s meticulous records, Sid entertained thoughts about finally setting things straight with D-29 approximately 161 times every day.
Of those, 142 involved some variation of telling the bestest system to stop doing something.
Which, according to the youngster’s limited understanding, meant that Sid was a very responsible mecha who cared deeply about making sure everyone behaved properly!
In the words of the ever-so-wise princesses,
But the most fascinating discovery was that the number of times Sid went out of his way to help D-29 also averaged exactly 142!
"!"
What an incredible coincidence!
The baby system had even checked its records several times, just in case it had accidentally counted something twice.
But no!
The numbers were correct!
Which meant that the coolest mecha was not only very responsible but also exceptionally generous!
Truly deserving of being called a hero of heroes!
And if anyone needed proof, they only had to look at what was happening right now.
After all, everyone was currently enjoying such a fun activity, and D-64 had even been allowed to play all by itself!
Like a big system!
Just like those very dependable big systems that had already earned their shiny gold stars for doing such a good job and could now be trusted with important tasks!
Unfortunately, while the youngster was happily enjoying its newfound independence, it noticed something rather concerning.
The bestest system had apparently forgotten to bring its equipment!
Oh no!
What a terrible oversight!
Especially when everyone else had remembered theirs!
D-64 was just beginning to wonder whether it should offer some of its own equipment when it realized there was no need to worry.
Because Sid was there!
And as expected of such a wonderful mecha, he’d already come up with a solution!
In fact, the youngster had been watching in absolute fascination as D-29 flew around majestically, occasionally stopping just long enough to point at one of the flying mechas.
Not with an actual weapon, mind you.
Just its finger!
With its thumb raised and index finger extended, the bestest system would strike what D-64 considered an extremely impressive pose before pretending to fire.
And almost immediately, an actual artillery round would come flying from somewhere far away!
"!!!"
The first time it happened, D-64 had been so shocked that it nearly forgot to record the observation.
Because how was that possible?!
The bestest system hadn’t even been holding anything, and yet, the enemy mecha had really been hit!
Was this magic?!
Could big systems do that?!
But after hurriedly reviewing what followed, the youngster finally discovered the truth.
It was Sid!
The coolest mecha had fired the shot!
And he’d somehow managed to do so from an entirely different position while busy dealing with another opponent, adjusting his aim so precisely that the projectile struck exactly where D-29 had pointed!
"And CUUUUT! Ha! Yes! Yes! Fantastic! Sid, that’s perfect!"
The bestest system was absolutely delighted!
"Now this one looks particularly deserving!"
"HAHAHA! DIRECT HIT!"
"..."
"Sid! Did you see that?! I got him!"
"You did not get him. I fired the shot."
"Yes, yes! Of course! Excellent teamwork!"
