The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] Chapter 1314: By Some Miracle

Outside, Caldris Minor-7 might as well have been going up in proverbial flames.
Inside Battalion 10’s hidden base, however, their Commander was having a wonderfully productive time.
Though, to Luca’s credit, his thoughts did eventually wander toward the rest of his guildmates.
He wondered how everyone was doing.
More specifically, he wondered whether Xavier missed him as much as Luca had missed his husband last night.
Sleeping without Xavier had felt strangely unfamiliar.
It was one of those rare occasions when Luca hadn’t woken up to his husband’s face, but instead found himself inside one of their converted Rovers with several exhausted cadets passed out in sleeping bags around him.
Then there was his good brother.
Luca couldn’t help worrying a little about Ollie, especially since none of them currently had safe access to the food they’d grown accustomed to eating lately. And even if they could theoretically sneak something in, doing so would probably raise questions they’d rather not answer later.
So for now, they were all stuck relying on the bland nutrient solutions provided for the exercise, and Luca knew perfectly well what his poor brother could be like when he was miserable, exhausted, and hungry.
Still...
Ollie had always managed to survive even the most ridiculous situations. He was truly resilient and admirable like that!
More importantly, the blonde was together with Luca’s ever-so-competent husband and Ada, who had always been responsible and dutiful...
So really, what could possibly go wrong?
__
Well, apparently, everything and nothing.
"AAAAAAAHHH!"
The sound of someone screaming like they were trapped on some sort of runaway rollercoaster suddenly ripped through the battalion comms.
Then it abruptly disappeared.
"..."
Xavier paused for a beat.
Still maintaining his usual deadpan expression, he casually maneuvered his mecha away from a volley of enemy fire and waited a few seconds for whatever madness was happening on the other end to pass.
Then he reopened the communication channel.
"—AAAAAAAAAAHHHH!"
"..."
The high-pitched screeching immediately flooded everyone’s headsets again.
Even the cadets currently fighting for their lives found themselves momentarily speechless.
Then, without warning, the terrified screaming abruptly transformed into a furious roar.
"BITCH, NOT TODAAAAAY!"
"...?!"
Ollie’s voice carried an unfamiliar, almost desperate ferocity before dissolving into the harsh sound of someone breathing like he’d just used up every last bit of oxygen in his lungs.
But really...
Who could blame the blonde?!
As far as Ollie was concerned, his life had already been threatened several times today!
And throughout every single horrifying experience, he’d been forced to repeatedly remind himself that one of the main reasons he’d married such a phenomenal mecha pilot was precisely so he
His husband was supposed to be the one piloting!
Ollie was supposed to be the mechanic!
That arrangement had always worked perfectly well!
Yet here he was, flying one of these damned things by himself while inconsiderate enemies kept trying to shoot him out of the sky as though his life meant absolutely nothing!
Did these people not understand he was a person?!
A person with a husband?!
A husband who’d worked incredibly hard to make sure Ollie remained so perfectly intact that even the tips of his hair were always accounted for?!
And now these bastards were trying to ruin all of Kyle’s hard work!
Absolutely not.
Not today!
So, upon being cornered by such disgraceful enemies who’d come rushing over from another Caldris Hostile underground base, the blonde finally started seeing red.
And then he went absolutely
Much to the shock of the actual Mecha Combat Division cadets fighting alongside him!
Or was this somehow the hidden advantage of being a mechanic?!
Because Oliver Mylor’s mecha was currently moving in ways none of them would’ve ever dared attempt. The machine twisted at unnatural angles, suddenly dropped altitude when any sane pilot would’ve climbed, then jerked sideways with such bizarre timing that incoming shots kept missing him by margins that made everyone’s hearts stop.
Soon enough, Ollie’s increasingly intense battle cries started echoing through the channel, and the others collectively decided they simply wouldn’t question whatever insane piloting technique they were witnessing.
Though a single glimpse inside the blonde’s cockpit would’ve immediately solved that mystery.
There was no secret combat talent or ingenious new maneuvering system.
Oliver Mylor was smashing buttons and praying to every god who might possibly be listening!
To be fair, however, he did have a bit of an advantage as an actual mechanic who could recalibrate the mecha on the fly whenever his latest act of desperation nearly threw everything out of balance.
And somehow...
Things were...
The Caldris Hostiles had spent most of their lives training to fight skilled opponents. They knew how to anticipate evasive maneuvers, recognize established combat patterns, and predict how another pilot would react under pressure.
What they apparently hadn’t trained for was
Because how were they supposed to predict Oliver Mylor’s next move when Oliver Mylor himself didn’t know what he was about to do?!
By some miracle, the bizarre strategy was proving wildly successful.
Although somewhere far away, Instructor Moore looked like he wanted to dig a hole and bury himself in it as several other instructors slowly turned toward him with expressions silently asking what the hell they were witnessing from his precious student.
"..."
Moore didn’t know either.
Meanwhile, Xavier had finally reached the limits of what even he considered reasonable patience.
After all, Ollie was still holding the very asset they needed to extract, and the recovery drone was already moving into position!
Moreover, had the blonde simply stopped screaming long enough to hand over the briefcase earlier, Xavier would’ve taken care of the remaining process himself. But Ollie had been clutching the thing like a lifeline, so why would Xavier interfere?
Eventually, however, the mechanic seemed to remember that the heavy case in his possession was the entire reason everyone was trying to get rid of him.
He surrendered it so quickly one would’ve thought it had suddenly burned his hands.
The extraction drone descended through the dusty atmosphere, hovering low enough for its winch cables to drop into position. The briefcase was immediately secured, and the moment the cables snapped taut and began hauling their objective upward, Xavier’s voice cut through the battalion channel.
"Clear the area."
There was no hesitation.
Battalion 8’s remaining cadets immediately began withdrawing from the extraction zone, causing several observers to furrow their brows.
He didn’t want backup.
In fact, he wanted everyone else as far away as possible before the drone cleared the required distance and its impenetrable shields finally activated.
He wasn’t going to give the enemy anyone they could use as leverage against him.
If they wanted to stop this extraction now, they’d have to go through him.
Through the haze, the remaining Caldris Hostiles surged forward in one desperate final charge, heavy artillery rounds screaming through the air toward the recovery drone’s rising path.
Xavier didn’t flinch.
His light mecha raised its rifle, and a rapid succession of tracer rounds tore across the battlefield with terrifying precision, intercepting the incoming artillery before any of it could reach the drone. Explosions erupted throughout the dusty sky, but Xavier was already pivoting toward the advancing formation before the first ball of fire had even finished blooming.
His crosshairs swept across the enemy mechas.
Then he fired again.
Not at their shields, but directly into the tiny gaps between armored joints, vulnerable internal connections, and exposed structural points most pilots would’ve struggled to hit even while standing still.
One hostile mecha abruptly lost mobility and crashed into the sand, while another stumbled hard enough to throw off the unit beside it. Before the rest could adjust their formation, Xavier’s rifle shifted again, systematically crippling the machines attempting to advance.
It was almost as though he’d known every vulnerability since the day those mechas were approved and built.
Meanwhile, across every terminal on Caldris Minor-7, the countdown continued.
[00:00:03]
[00:00:02]
[00:00:01]
A harsh mechanical chime rang across the terrain.
[EXTRACTION SUCCESSFUL.]
For one brief moment, everything seemed to freeze.
Then Battalion 8 erupted.
Cheers exploded across the communication channel, exhaustion temporarily forgotten beneath the sheer relief of becoming the first battalion to successfully extract one of the main objectives.
Elsewhere on Caldris Minor-7, scattered cadets stared at their terminals in stunned silence.
Someone had actually done it.
An objective was gone.
Which meant there was now one less opportunity for everyone else.
Unfortunately, just when everyone thought that was the end of the announcement, another sharp chime rang out.
A red prompt flashed across every participating terminal.
[COMMENCING DECOMMISSIONING OF EXTRACTION POINTS 01, 04, AND 07.]
