The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] Chapter 1236: Under the Radar

As if simply asking the Elves could be considered a legitimate option!
Sure, they technically had access to certain Elves, but certainly not the kind who’d willingly distribute such shady paraphernalia with the very clear intention of messing people up.
Surprisingly, before Prince Elior could even react to the revelation—his expression looking less shocked and more burdened by a heavy sense of resignation—it was Princess Kira who reacted in full force.
"What?!"
The Orcish Princess practically exploded.
Her aura flared so violently that her already fiery hair looked like it’d genuinely been set ablaze, and judging by the murderous expression twisting across her face, one would’ve thought someone had just personally informed her that her greatest enemy was waiting right outside the door.
Of course, it wasn’t because Kira still carried the same long-standing issues she’d once had with Elves in general.
No.
Her thoughts had simply shot straight toward one very specific individual who, in her opinion, already deserved a long and torturous death even before someone decided to add something this nefarious to his ever-growing list of possible crimes.
The clearly agitated Orc gritted her teeth.
"It’s that blasted Eren, isn’t it?!"
Killian, who’d already expected something like this to happen the moment he mentioned the Elves, kept his expression remarkably composed.
"That’s what we’re trying to find out," the Chief of Staff replied evenly. "But as unfair as it might sound, even if it wasn’t directly him, it’d be difficult to believe he knew absolutely nothing about it."
"!"
The atmosphere immediately became heavier.
And that was precisely why Killian hadn’t wanted to say too much before they had anything concrete.
Because as expected, something like this wouldn’t affect relations with the Elves alone.
His gaze briefly shifted toward Prince Elior and Rahil, both of whom would inevitably be dragged into whatever came next simply because of their connection to the Elven royal family.
And Princess Marin?
Killian didn’t even want to imagine how the young Elven Princess would react upon hearing that her older brother might’ve caused trouble yet again.
But for now, all they really had were the pieces of information they’d managed to squeeze out of the Luxastra twins. It wouldn’t do them any good to develop tunnel vision and immediately pin everything on one person when the investigation was still in its early stages and they hadn’t even finished organizing the people who’d verify whether those claims held any weight.
Unfortunately for one particularly deranged Elven Prince, his past track record wasn’t exactly doing him any favors.
Even if they were working with little more than speculation at the moment, there was absolutely no way they wouldn’t check for his involvement.
In fact, the more Killian considered what they’d learned, the more it offered a rather unsettling explanation for something that’d been bothering them for quite some time.
Prince Eren had been unusually quiet.
After several of his earlier plans had been foiled, they’d naturally expected him to try something else. Yet rather than escalating, retaliating, or even throwing another one of his infamous tantrums, the Elven Prince had seemingly gone dormant.
At the time, they’d simply assumed that perhaps he’d finally learned to exercise some caution.
Now?
If Eren really had something to do with the incense burner, then his unusual silence suddenly made far more sense.
After all, why would he need to make another loud move when something considerably more insidious might’ve already been circulating behind the scenes?
Still, no matter how suspicious everything looked, Killian refused to let that possibility become a conclusion before they’d properly investigated it.
"We’re launching an investigation because, according to the twins, they didn’t actually receive the incense directly from any Elves," Killian explained. "But they had the people they got it from tailed, and eventually managed to trace the transaction back to what appears to be a relatively new Elven-led syndicate."
As expected, that explanation did absolutely nothing to improve the expressions around the room.
If anything, several of them somehow looked even worse.
Eventually, it was their newest officially licensed mechanic who managed to voice what quite a few people were probably thinking.
"A syndicate?!" the blonde exclaimed, practically screeching in disbelief. "They’ve got syndicates using incense now?! Whatever happened to good old-fashioned drugs?!"
The similarly annoyed brother-in-law let out a tired sigh.
"That their version of a drug. It just happens to come in this form, which makes it easy to activate and even easier to distribute."
That, unfortunately, was one of the more troubling pieces of information they’d managed to squeeze out of the twins.
According to Lyrian and Cyrion, the incense was supposedly capable of increasing the potency of someone’s abilities severalfold.
Neither of them had outright admitted that they’d acquired it for the purpose of amplifying their own bloodline abilities, of course.
No.
Apparently, the incense was simply rumored to work on any ability, and they’d just happened to be carrying that thing around.
How wonderfully convenient.
Uno had naturally pushed them for specifics, particularly regarding what the incense was actually supposed to do and how the amplification worked. But for once, the twins insisted that they genuinely didn’t know more.
According to them, the substance was supposedly rare enough that even they’d had difficulty acquiring it. They’d only heard bits and pieces about what it could supposedly accomplish, and since they hadn’t gotten the opportunity to properly use it themselves, how were they expected to explain exactly how it worked?
And when the twins were questioned about why they’d gone through the trouble of obtaining something they supposedly knew so little about, the two, despite being interrogated separately, had somehow given almost identical answers.
Who want something that could enhance their abilities?
As though that explanation wasn’t already shameless enough, both Aeruns had also insisted that there was no way they could’ve known the incense was particularly dangerous.
After all, they’d managed to bring it straight through arena security.
They hadn’t even gone to any extraordinary lengths to hide it!
So if they’d actually known they were carrying something illegal, would they seriously have been stupid enough to lug the evidence around with them and willingly let Imperial security scan it multiple times?
Obviously, nobody in the room was naive enough to believe that the twins were suddenly paragons of innocence.
Those two were undoubtedly trying to weasel their way out of as much responsibility as possible, or at the very least lessen whatever sentence might eventually come crashing down on their heads.
Unfortunately, that didn’t mean everything they said could simply be dismissed.
Because the more the investigators compared their statements with what they already knew, the more one particularly unpleasant possibility started looking very real.
The Luxastra twins might’ve genuinely had no idea just how dangerous that incense actually was.
And if couldn’t tell, then what about everyone else?
That was the part that truly made the situation alarming.
Despite everything the Elders had already discovered, the incense hadn’t triggered a single conventional security measure. No alarms had gone off, no common detector had classified it as dangerous, and nothing had stopped the twins from carrying it straight into a crowded arena despite being scanned multiple times.
In hindsight, that explained perfectly how they’d managed to bring it inside without raising any suspicion.
But it also raised a far more disturbing question.
Just how many more had slipped through undetected?
