The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] Chapter 1206: Dropped Off

Well, that was definitely unexpected.
Kyle turned the terminal so Ollie could see before accepting the call. The projection flickered to life, revealing a visibly frazzled Owen sitting stiffly on the edge of his bed.
"Brother-in-law..."
He quickly apologized for calling so late before admitting there was something he desperately wanted to ask.
"What happens if I accidentally get a stomach bug tomorrow and can’t go?"
The younger heir to House Nox blinked in momentary confusion.
Owen hurriedly explained that he knew he was supposed to be the owner and test pilot of the mecha, but after hearing everyone talk about how excited they were to see what his older brother had built and how proud everyone would be, he’d started getting cold feet.
He already knew he didn’t actually have to do very much, and he had been in high spirits for quite a while—so much so that he had even forgotten his responsibilities while taking in everything he had witnessed. But now that he was being reminded it would all happen the moment he woke up, all he could think to do was delay sleep for as long as possible. If he didn’t close his eyes, then when he woke up, it still wouldn’t be time for the demonstration... right?
And what if he really got sick?
What if his body decided to betray him tomorrow?
He’d called Kyle instead of Ollie because he was certain his brother was already asleep—as he was the type to always be asleep—and because he had a feeling his question would only worry his already tired brother.
Unfortunately for him, that assumption lasted all of three seconds.
"Owen!"
The booming voice that suddenly erupted from the terminal startled the youngest Mylor so badly that he nearly fell straight off his bed.
He stared at the projection in complete disbelief.
His brother was awake.
Even worse, his brother had heard everything.
The supposedly older and more responsible (?) adult immediately pointed a finger at him through the projection.
"Even if I have to revive you myself, you’re showing up tomorrow if you know what’s good for you!"
Ollie spoke with complete sincerity despite sounding as dramatic as ever.
"So don’t even think about stomach bugs. And if you really do feel sick tomorrow, then go see Brother Luca so all those ailments can get scared away. Coming to see him for yourself is always better than making Luca come after you."
Owen stared at him as though he were reliving some sort of trauma.
"You’re kidding... right?"
The blonde looked him dead in the eye.
"I wish."
Watching the exchange unfold, Kyle quietly decided that the giant kid might genuinely start fearing for his life if Ollie kept talking like that.
Stepping in before the poor boy spiraled any further, Kyle smiled reassuringly.
"Owen, just show up tomorrow and don’t think about so many things. Focus on what you’re going to do with your new toy."
His smile widened slightly.
"It’s impressive enough that even if all you did was take it out of the space button, you’d probably amaze yourself."
Those simple words eased the knot that had been tightening in Owen’s chest all evening.
Sure enough, he’d been right to call his brother-in-law.
Kyle really was much gentler.
Then again, no one could ever replace his actual brother, because beneath all the outrageous threats and relentless exaggeration was someone who had spent days creating a one-of-a-kind mecha just for him.

The conversation between the youngsters continued for a while longer, much like the countless discussions unfolding across the universe, particularly among those who had taken a keen interest in the licensure examination and the mecha that would finally be revealed the following day.
Everyone was wondering the same thing.
What exactly had that aspiring mechanic been creating behind the secretive curing enclosure?
Although they had watched him adjust and tinker with it from time to time, no one had actually seen the finished product hidden within.
As a result, anticipation only continued to build. This was especially true for those who had even invested in facilities in hopes of replicating his processes as he worked. While others were merely excited, they were practically sweating with anxiety.
Elsewhere, however, someone was lying awake for reasons that had absolutely nothing to do with the final day of the examination or the arrests made earlier.
It wasn’t even because of the political fallout he would inevitably have to deal with as one of the people directly involved in the fiasco.
And as unbelievable as it was, his mind hadn’t even been occupied by what might’ve happened had that dubious incense actually been lit. Normally, he would’ve already come up with at least ten different scenarios and rehearsed exactly how he’d handle each one if the problem ever landed on his desk.
No.
Killian Nox, usually the proud Imperial Chief of Staff, was currently being kept awake by his own conscience.
Or perhaps by his own degeneracy.
At least, that was the conclusion he had reluctantly arrived at.
Because what exactly was one principled person supposed to do when someone knocked on his cabin door this late at night?
More importantly, what was he supposed to do when he opened that door and found a towering redhead standing there with a pillow hugged tightly against his chest like it was the only thing keeping him alive?
As though that alone wasn’t enough, perched comfortably on Jax’s shoulder was his incredibly obvious accomplice.
Little Isabelle.
The tiny Queen Bee was even hugging the miniature one-of-one Killian plushie D-64 had made as a welcome gift for the newborn Queen.
Killian looked at Jax.
Then at Isabelle.
Then back at Jax again.
His thoughts came to a complete halt.
Unfortunately, the situation only became even more ridiculous.
"Killian, sorry for coming out of the blue but see, Izzie wants to drop me off," Jax explained with complete sincerity and even a little hint of hesitation.
According to him, the little Queen had decided she wanted to spend the night sleeping inside the hive as a reward for all the worker bees who had worked so hard that day.
The only problem was that she had nowhere to leave her Papa, whom she feared had been thoroughly terrorized by the earlier incident. While he was physically strong, the little bee remained convinced that her Papa was simply too gentle and therefore needed round-the-clock protection, especially from nefarious forces.
Naturally, she had decided that the obvious solution was to bring him to her Dada’s cabin before flying off for her very first hive sleepover since her underlings managed to fix up their new and improved castle of a hive.
Killian continued staring at the pair.
He honestly wasn’t sure which part of that explanation disturbed him more.
The fact that Isabelle had apparently come up with that plan.
Or the fact that Jax had gone along with it without questioning a single part of it.
What exactly was the appropriate response here?
Was there some sort of handbook outlining the standard operating procedures for receiving one emotionally attached redhead who had allegedly been delivered by an infant Queen Bee?
Or was he simply expected to wing the whole damned thing?
