Upon investigating the Shugu tribe's storehouse, Mo Hua and the new Great Chieftain Lugu discover it's nearly empty. An elder reveals the previous Chieftain traded most of the tribe's wealth and legacy items for a large quantity of Fasting Pills from the Hua family. Mo Hua suspects this extensive trade, especially during a famine, hides deeper secrets and a potential agenda by the Hua family to collect specific legacies.

But for Mo Hua, it was far from enough.

Because in the eyes of the former Chief Shugou, barbarian slaves were not considered human.

He only needed to use Fasting Pill to sustain the barbarian soldiers.

Whether the barbarian slaves lived or died, he didn’t care.

If it became impossible to sustain them, he would let the barbarian slaves fend for themselves or start a war, using these barbarian slaves as cannon fodder, naturally depleting them in a wave.

In this way, he could kill enemies and save food, achieving the best of both worlds.

Mo Hua, however, could not do that.

These barbarian slaves were people too; he needed to provide them with a meal to let them survive in times of disaster.

And within the tribe, the number of barbarian slaves was the highest.

Therefore, these Fasting Pills, in Mo Hua’s hands, would be consumed at a multiplied rate.

This million bottles of Fasting Pills could only slightly alleviate the grain shortage problem.

Even then, it wouldn’t solve it for too long.

With a grand family, problems are also grand; Mo Hua still needed to make longer-term plans.

But where would more food come from?

Mo Hua touched the empty bottles containing Fasting Pills, pondering.

"The Hua family..."

...

After leaving the storehouse, Mo Hua returned to his room. After pondering for a moment, he summoned Elder Bachuan and asked:

"Is Jin Wutu still locked up?"

Elder Bachuan nodded, "He is still in the prison."

"Is he being guarded strictly?" Mo Hua asked.

Elder Bachuan replied, "As per your previous instructions, he is not being watched strictly." .

Mo Hua nodded and said, "Relax even more recently. And also..."

Mo Hua thought for a moment and said, "Also go tell the people below, say that Lord Lugu, the new Chief Shugou, has decided to grant amnesty to the tribe. As long as they haven’t committed a capital offense, they can be dealt with lightly."

"Also release a few prisoners in front of Jin Wutu."

"Withdraw a few more guards from the prison..."

Elder Bachuan did not know Mo Hua’s intentions, but he knew that as long as it was the Shaman’s orders, one should just obey.

"Yes..."

Elder Bachuan took the orders and left.

Mo Hua’s gaze deepened slightly.

...

Seven days later, in a prison of Shugubu, a shadowy figure sneaked out.

He wore prisoner’s clothing, covered in wounds, his skin deathly pale, as if it had shed and regrown anew.

This person was Jin Wutu.

He was once a subordinate of Sishen, later conspiring with the Bi Fang Tribe to betray Sishen and fled to the oasis to enjoy life.

It was Mo Hua who captured him.

After being caught, Jin Wutu was subjected to severe torture by Lugu, in a very miserable state, yet his flesh was extremely tough, stubbornly refusing to die.

Mo Hua then had him temporarily imprisoned, later busy with war affairs, did not inquire after him for a long time.

Now Jin Wutu, using unknown means, left the prison, and later somehow dug out a set of rough barbarian slave clothes to change into, then mingled into the crowd, disappearing amidst the commotion.

Two hours later, in another corner, a completely different person appeared.

He was wearing barbarian soldier’s clothes, mixed into the mountain patrol team, walking openly out of the tribe’s area.

Then, amidst the chaos of the patrol shift change, his figure disappeared again.

Reappearing, he was already in the Desolate Mountain, in a secluded little gorge.

He discarded the barbarian soldier’s clothes, casually threw them away, turned to gaze at the distant Shugubu, a trace of a sneer emerging on his unfamiliar face, and muttered:

"A bunch of fools, trying to keep me locked?"

"Sooner or later, I’ll wipe you all out..."

After cursing, he no longer hesitated, turned around alone, swaggering into the valley...

The valley was desolate and lifeless.

No sound around at all.

But in a place unnoticed by anyone, a pair of deep and eerie eyes were watching all this.
