The Quest for Immortality Chapter 2305: Monster (2)
Previously on The Quest for Immortality...
Due to a shortage of hands, they have no option but to downgrade the array's quality and design, employing a Second-grade Array to patch the framework of the Quasi-Third Grade Grand Array.
Likewise, at this stage, the "resources" needed for the Blood Sacrifice Array must be severely depleted.
The Desolate Heaven Blood Sacrifice Formation demands immense slaughter.
Only through such vast killing sprees can they amass plenty of human skin, bones, flesh, blood... to serve as the key Formation materials for this Evil Formation.
However, the Evil God's claws are now pinned down by Qianxue's forces from all directions, stopping them from slaughtering more Cultivators.
This leaves them without any real method to gather further "resources" for the Evil Formation.
Even a clever woman cannot cook without rice.
Faced with dwindling Evil Path resources, Mr. Tu resorts to Righteous Dao array methods to temporarily connect the "bridge" for the Formation Pivot's function.
Downgrading the grade and blending patterns creates unstable frameworks. Mixing righteous and evil energies, Spiritual Power with Evil Power, will surely lead to clashes.
But at least, this allows the Desolate Heaven Blood Sacrifice Formation to be "completed" ahead of time.First complete it, then seek improvements, then aim for perfection.
Without completion, all else is mere hot air.
Mr. Tu truly is a seasoned, vastly knowledgeable veteran Formation Master, his mindset practical and spot-on.
Mo Hua nodded faintly.
If it were him, he'd likely only think this far as well.
Of course, on the surface, he kept up a baffled look, firing off some "stupid" questions at Mr. Tu:
"Isn’t this a Third Grade Grand Array? Will painting a Second-grade Array actually help?"
"Can Righteous Dao formations mix with Evil Path formations? What happens if they don’t?"
"On such a huge base, why are so few Formation Masters drawing arrays? Where’d the rest go? Were they killed?"
Among these queries, basic grand array concepts were tucked in—perfectly normal for Mo Hua to miss—so Mr. Tu answered each one.
They also hid some "heart-wrenching" barbs, which Mr. Tu acted like he didn’t catch.
Once done, Mr. Tu passed a Jade Slip to Mo Hua.
This Jade Slip held the main foundational layout of the Blood Sacrifice Array, but Mr. Tu had wiped out much of the Evil Formation parts, swapping them with Five Elements and Eight Trigrams arrays tailored for Mo Hua to draw.
"Draw these formations on the cliff ahead—this is your job," Mr. Tu directed.
Mo Hua peeked at it, his face twisting in annoyance right away, and questioned Mr. Tu:
"Didn’t you say I’d help build the grand array? Isn’t drawing these basic ones just menial labor?"
I, the mighty Qianxue Array Dao Leader, reduced to menial work for you?
Mo Hua voiced his discontent.
Mr. Tu replied: "Without small steps, no journey of a thousand miles; without tiny streams, no great rivers. The grand array builds from these core formations. To master grand arrays, start at the basics—don’t bite off more than you can chew and neglect the roots."
Mo Hua nodded grudgingly, finding logic in it.
Yet right before starting, something hit him, and he hesitantly voiced:
"Wait, drawing these means I’m siding with evil demons. If Sect Elders or those big shots learn, I’ll get kicked out of the Sect and never join Taixu Gate..."
Mr. Tu countered: "You’re drawing Righteous Dao formations, not Evil ones—how could that get you expelled?"
Mo Hua pressed: "But you’re Demon Cultivators; drawing for you is aiding the wicked, right?"
Mr. Tu patiently clarified: "You’re not ’helping’ us draw; you’re forced into it, painting just to survive."
"You’re ’coerced’—it’s not on you."
Mr. Tu stressed once more.
Mo Hua blinked in surprise, "Really?"
Mr. Tu nodded, "Really."
Mo Hua shed his concerns at last, but as he geared up to start, doubt crept back, eyeing Mr. Tu warily:
"After I finish the formations, won’t you betray me and kill me?"
Mr. Tu fumed inwardly, inwardly damning this suspicious kid.
Still, he had to coax gently now:
"Don’t worry, your background’s unique and valuable to the Divine Lord—I won’t harm you. Paint well, earn merit, and the Divine Lord will note it and reward you fairly..."
Thus, after Mr. Tu’s coaxing, Mo Hua finally consented to draw the formations for him.
Mo Hua at last started his task, but merely after drawing two lines, he halted once more, shaking his head:
"Still not right."
Mr. Tu had reached his limit by now, snapping in anger: "What is it now?"
A bit wronged and helpless, Mo Hua pointed to the white bone hoop atop his head, "You've sealed my Divine Sense, so I can't paint formations..."
Mr. Tu went stiff, recalling how this young man's Sea of Consciousness had been sealed by the Great Wilderness's sacred treasure.
Sealed Sea of Consciousness meant no communion with deities, restricted Divine Sense, making formation painting impossible, of course.
But... to release the seal...
Anxiety stirred in Mr. Tu's heart.
Still, after a brief hesitation, he weighed the greater good, putting the grand array first, then stretched out his ashen finger to touch Mo Hua's brow, letting a blood thread infiltrate the White Bone Tooth Talisman and thus unseal Mo Hua.
The moment it happened, clarity flooded his mind; a spark of light gleamed in Mo Hua's bright eyes before slowly fading back to emptiness.
A faint pang hit Mr. Tu's heart, yet after scrutinizing Mo Hua closely, he found no oddities, and so inquired:
"Is it okay now?"
Mo Hua gave a nod, "No problem."
"Start painting formations."
"Alright."
Grasping the brush, Mo Hua soaked it in Spiritual Ink, consulted the Formation Diagram Jade Slip from Mr. Tu, and steadily commenced inscribing formations onto the cliff face.
Thanks to his profound skill in formations, he grasped these foundational ones for the grand array with just one look, requiring no extra guidance from Mr. Tu.
