The Primal Hunter Chapter 1165 - A Successful Diplomatic Mission
Having taken some time to gather his thoughts, Jake reckoned there were a few things he had to get done. Seeing as Artemis had left to talk with Yggdrasil and Nature’s Attendant about things getting official, Jake reckoned he should also inform his Patron of it.
And, no, it had nothing to do with Jake wanting to at least brag a little to his scaled friend.
When Artemis had returned and covered the palace in barriers, Villy had also been cut off as he already had a difficult time spying inside the territory of the Pantheon of Life, but now he was back to looking again, which also made it easier for Jake to mentally reach out.
It didn’t take long before he got a response, either.
Villy said in an amused tone.
Jake shot back.
Villy responded.
Jake shut the notion down.
the Viper began, acting all offended.
Jake asked curiously.
Jake confessed.
Villy asked, though he clearly already knew the answer.
Jake nodded.
the Primordial said, not even trying to pry.
Jake responded, a bit unsure.
the Malefic Viper said, far more serious than Jake expected him to be.
He had thought this talk would be the Viper teasing Jake about getting a girlfriend, but the fact that even his snake god buddy took this so seriously really made it hit home that this wasn’t a small commitment.
It was good that he had taken a few moments before gathering his feelings, allowing Jake to respond with an answer he was confident in.
Jake said.
Jake said, having needed a second to answer that one.
the Viper said, returning to his usual jolly tone.
Jake smiled at Villy being back to his usual self.
Jake sighed.
the Viper said in a happy tone.
Jake asked, having many questions indeed.
the Viper explained.
Jake pointed out, still having a very hard time seeing why a god of time would even bother betting about something like that, especially when the person in question only had a Divine Blessing.
Villy said, as if it wasn’t obvious.
Jake nodded as he considered whether he should share the next part, but ultimately decided to.
Jake wondered out loud.
the Viper said, once more giving some serious advice.
Jake asked after thinking a bit.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Jake listened as the Viper continued.
Jake muttered.
Jake confessed.
Jake continued to listen as he let out a loud sigh after the Viper was done.
He still had a lot of things to think about, it seemed, including the other more casual relationships in his life. Jake had been born and raised on Earth in a culture where monogamy was the only socially acceptable norm, and shedding that norm wouldn’t be easy, assuming it was even something he wanted to do.
Because the Viper did have a point... Jake wouldn’t like Artemis coming to him and showing off some S-grade guy she’d taken a fancy to. He just hadn’t said anything because he hoped that wouldn’t happen any time soon, if ever. Objecting to it would also be very hypocritical. Hearing Villy say it had a low chance of happening eased his worries a lot, but if it ever did happen anyway... he’d worry about that bridge when he had to cross it.
Villy gave some more sage advice.
Jake nodded, thankful for the Viper’s input.
the Viper said as Jake heard him clear his throat, something that wasn’t a thing with telepathic communication.
Jake was about to laugh and joke about how he’d kind of forgotten he was even part of an official diplomatic delegation when a system notification popped up in front of him.
Jake stared at the notifications for several seconds before blurting out loud: “What the fuck?”
Villy said, definitely grinning on the other side.
Jake said, certain that the Viper had done some weird shit to exploit the system again.
Jake insisted, feeling like those were four of his most unearned levels ever.
Villy didn’t bother arguing.
Jake sighed.
Villy teased him.
Jake shrugged.
the Viper said casually.
Jake accurately pointed out.
Villy said, as if his statement made perfect sense.
Before Jake could say anything more, the telepathic link was cut off.
Alone once more – if one ignored the fact that Villy was still observing him – Jake sat back on the couch and let out a loud sigh. His head was spinning with complicated things he hated that he even had to think about. Luckily, he’d just been given something excellent to distract himself and force him to think about something else.
It had come a bit earlier than Jake would have liked, as he’d wanted to make some more progress in his alchemy, but delaying it also didn’t seem like a smart thing. Ultimately, Jake reckoned he had enough Records even without fixing Palate, as he hoped and expected to get something good.
Opening the system menu, Jake saw the message staring back at him as it was time for the final skill selection of C-grade.
