Chapter 1461 Information Form Anchor (4)
In the Ancient Star Desert, on a barren dead planet.
Eerie green moonlight draped the heavens, while the fissured black ground lingered in endless hush. No grass grew anywhere, utterly devoid of green hues. Now and then, shattered edifices jutted from the soil, their exposed sections marred by speckled wind-worn marks. Intricate etchings had blurred beyond recognition, alongside crumbled human statues sprawled across the terrain—some with merely half a head remaining, others with just half a torso.
The zone appeared as the remnants of a forsaken city, interred by the sands of time.
A compact spaceship hovered a mere meter over the surface, projecting a pale blue barrier spanning dozens of kilometers to deliver remote power and vital support. The silver-gold craft tapered to a sharp prow widening into a triangle at the rear. Its hull bore emblems of the Supers Holy Land, Black Star Army, and Floating Dragon Island. This elite prototype vessel, not yet in mass production from the army’s supply lines, packed top-tier tech and could surpass level five warp limits, hitting 17.7. It cost a fortune.
Beneath the ship’s support field, some five hundred meters underground, two silhouettes advanced steadily through labyrinthine ruins.
“These ruins mark the capital of the Fifth Dynasty, the final traces of the Tersrand people. Their civilization fell during the exploration era’s close, and later scavengers unearthed ancient relics, bringing this site back into view. They were truly unfortunate—who could foresee their homeworld once served as a dormant lair for colossal galactic beasts eons ago? The beasts’ revival unleashed catastrophe upon their society...”
Harrison traced the faded inscriptions on the subterranean palace walls while explaining. Jenny cradled their child, listening raptly.
Jenny had delivered her baby. After months recovering on Floating Dragon, Harrison’s wanderlust surged, and Jenny grew restless too. They departed at once, leveraging ties to borrow a state-of-the-art army shuttle gratis, venturing far and wide.
With an infant aboard, ultra-hazardous spots were off-limits. So Harrison chose archaeological tours for Jenny. He joined the Spacetime Research Council, devouring logs of vanished civilizations, aiming to shine as the perfect guide.
All three donned the army’s latest interstellar explorer mech-suits, built to endure harsh conditions. The baby’s custom version included mental calming, sleep aids, auto-diaper swaps, and more... Harrison paused before a line of fractured statues, gesturing with a grin.
“This subterranean palace was crafted by Tersrand’s final King in his youth for prior monarchs. To common folk, it honored ancestors, but certain texts reveal it concealed a deep natural shaft. A juvenile Ancient Beast lurked within, which he sought to domesticate covertly. He aimed to shatter the Regent Prince’s hold on power... Dull, huh? Just tedious court intrigue, yet you’d never predict the twist.”
“Did he stir extra ancient beasts by mistake, dooming their civilization?” Jenny wondered.
“Haha, wrong guess. He roused this one but fell deeply for it. The beast’s unique genes warped his bloodline the nearer he drew. At a royal gathering, he morphed into a fresh ancient beast and spearheaded the horde to raze the capital...”
“Love beyond species? Or the beast’s psychic influence?”
Jenny’s eyes bulged. Interspecies romance was routine, but this tale still stunned.
Harrison shook his head. “Unclear. Only he knew for sure.”
“Then what followed?”
“The dormant beasts stirred successively, fleeing to the stars. The final King vanished. Legends claim he joined the beasts in the cosmos, or lingered eternally with his mate amid the homeworld’s desolation...”
“A touch romantic,” Jenny remarked.
“Haha, we might uncover their remains here—that’s our quest’s goal.”
Harrison chuckled.
They bantered lightly while delving deeper into the palace. Harrison dominated the tales, Jenny absorbed them eagerly. Soon, they reached the terminus: a rock-sealed passage.
Harrison punched through the boulders effortlessly, exposing a slanted, ruined stairway. He led Jenny down its length until they hit bottom—a cavernous chamber where two beast skeletons entwined, as if embracing in eternal repose.
“The last Tersrand King and his beloved?” Jenny probed.
“Likely... They chose to remain, slumbering together forever.”
Harrison’s gaze gleamed. He captured footage, collected bone fragments for analysis, stowing them away.
But then, the earth quaked fiercely. The cavern trembled, quivers intensifying rapidly. The ground heaved wildly.
Boom!
Rumblings of shifting planetary veins echoed, swelling like the planet’s fury unleashed.
“Collapse incoming?”
Harrison’s pulse raced; he scooped Jenny and rocketed upward.
Yet midway, the palace caved in fully.
Hong Long Long! Endless rubble cascaded, sealing every void. From orbit, the surface gaped into a vast sinkhole.
Yet in that instant, a verdant-glowing force field plunged from above, ripping the crust asunder. Guided by it, a massive soil sphere erupted skyward, arcing to rest near the ship.
The globe quivered, shedding crust to unveil a spherical blue barrier. Their suits detected external force, deploying shields automatically. The mild jolt posed no threat; all three emerged unscathed.
Ames descended then, clad in black gown, hovering before them with a helpless frown, chiding,
“So reckless! I spotted you buried the second I arrived. With a baby, avoid such perils.”
“Ahem, just a mishap.” Harrison flushed sheepishly. Unhurt, yes, but extrication would’ve dragged. Caught by Ames, utter mortification.
Jenny shrugged it off. Over a year adventuring, buried seven, eight times. No injuries, routine now.
Her superhuman might redefined danger. A minor thrill with child? Fine. “Sis, how’d you track us?”
Phillip materialized on Ames’ shoulder, thumbs-up proud.
“Thanks to me, hum... I track every army-built ship, hum...”
“Right, forgot Black Star granted you army AI command... So why show up in person? Communicator not enough? Interrupting family time?”
Jenny pouted.
Ames eyed the dozing tot in Jenny’s hold, softening into a smile. “Missed my nephew. Can’t visit? Hand him over, I wanna play.”
“No way! You know your strength? You mishandle him every time. Not yours, so careless, huh?”
Jenny balked, shielding the babe.
Ames ignored her, force field snatching the child gently. She unsealed the suit, poking pudgy cheeks till he stirred. “Hey! Lighter!” Jenny clutched Ames’ arm, hollering at Harrison, “Help already!”
Harrison winced bitterly.
Sisters squabbling—he stayed clear.
“What would you know? I’m channeling energy to purify his body, forging strong foundations.”
Ames brushed off Jenny, kneading the babe’s face. Strength reined in, but zero childcare savvy meant wails anyway.
Jenny yielded to superior power, soothing the crybaby.
“Didn’t you hate kids? Why cling now?” “Past dislikes don’t bind the present.”
Ames teased on, back turned, coaxing giggles at last.
Jenny grumbled, “Like ‘em? Make your own. Quit hogging mine.” “Why toil when you’ve got one ready?” Ames winked.
Jenny twitched. Ames’ bluntness could overwhelm.
Silently fuming, she queried,
“Anyway, decided on kids with Black Star? He’s nagged repeatedly; you dodge.”
“...Still mulling.” Ames wavered.
“Sister dear, how long’s ‘mulling’? Longevity aside, endless delay? Black Star indulges you. Others’d spawn dynasties by now.”
Ames shot a glance, marveling. “You loathed me with Black Star before. Now pushing offspring?”
Jenny lips tightened, mute.
Once vexed by their union, now motherhood flipped it—she craved Han Xiao bedding Ames nonstop, freeing her family from pestering.
Buzz!
Space warped faintly; Han Xiao emerged from the rift.
“Hmm? You too?” Ames glanced, startled. “Phillip’s access pinged me.” Han Xiao shrugged.
“Your purpose?” Ames squinted, tone laced odd. Last incident lingered.
“Affairs wrapped temporarily. Here to join you.” Han Xiao grinned.
“Need company now?” Ames hoisted the kid, huffing.
Han Xiao eyed the child, caught Jenny’s signal. He strode up, snagged the tot’s garb, returned to Jenny. Smiling, “Love kids? Let’s make ours.”
“Again?” Ames scanned about. “Didn’t I say no?”
Han Xiao encircled Ames’ waist boldly. “Rejections? I’ll persist till yes.”
“Hmph, shameless... Figured a titan like you’d skip heir obsessions. Still so mundane.” Ames stayed put, palms on his chest, arching away.
Han Xiao mulled seconds, voicing depths: “Life’s turbulent seas test us all. Anchors define us—ideals, faiths, bonds... I’ve chosen: usher new epoch, etch us eternal. Cycles end; futures unknown. I crave an indelible foothold here.”
“Rare sweet talk... Not memorized me yet?”
“Deeper memories better?”
“...Flirting?”
“Else? Guess my hand’s task?” Intimacy bred shameless banter; gazes sparked bolder innuendos.
Harrison and Jenny slipped aboard ship amid escalating vibes. Engines roared aflame; they blasted off swiftly.
Soon, vessel pierced atmosphere, planet shrinking behind.
Harrison exhaled—then the world quaked violently. Crust fractured; a cosmic-scale pit burst visible from space, shockwaves hurling debris. Planet reeled from colossal strike.
Next, unseen force pummeled it. Surface imploded, shell cracking like egg. Mass collapsed inward, pockmarking everywhere.
“Those lovebirds ignore us utterly...”
Jenny flushed angry-exhilarated, inwardly rooting chaos.
Then, searing radiance erupted—the planet detonated!
Boom!
Energy torrent surged, slamming ship’s rear. Shields flared, flinging it afar. Stabilizing later.
Harrison mopped sweat, gaping at fiery demise. Swallowed hard, expression tangled.
“Good we fled quick... Shame about those ruins...”
