The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1656: Asmodeus Antics
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
Necromancers are rare, but when one appears, their power is instantly felt.
During the Renegade Era, the Necromancers were hunted down and killed by the Heavens Court, not because they were a threat to the universe, but because they chose not to join the Heavens Court.
They had no reason to join them.
However, fearing their power would grow unchecked, the Celestial Supreme ordered their deaths. Legend has it that by the time they succeeded in purging the Necromancers, half of Heaven’s army had fallen.
However, they succeeded, and for a few eras, peace reigned. That peace was shattered during the War Era when Magnus, the Paragon of War, spread fear and panic across galaxies.
It was in that era that he summoned the Vile and Evil Asmodeus, the Necromancer who came close to destroying the Heavens Legion. Asmodeus was HIM, the one who had dominion over the dead.
His methods were ruthless, and his decisions always left blood and carnage in their wake. No matter how one looked at it, Asmodeus was the most dangerous threat of that era.
However, after he vanished, the Heavens Court bragged that they had vanquished him. They even claimed they had killed him alongside the Paragon of War.
Safe to say, looking at the grin on his face now, many who knew him broke into a cold sweat, for they knew the Vile and Evil Asmodeus wouldn’t come and go without leaving his mark.
This meant Lord Mordrika is done for.
"Kekekekeke," Asmodeus laughed, or perhaps cackled. Whatever sound he made spread across the battlefield, bringing everyone to a halt.
Seeing that he had the stage, he slowly rose into the air and spread his arms. "Well, isn’t this the perfect time for me to officially announce my return?"
Hunter shook his head and smiled, while Lady Elysia just sighed, knowing this battle was as good as over.
"A very long time ago, the Heavens Court begged me to stop, for they couldn’t take it anymore. They lost to me, and that was the best feeling ever. You may wonder why they dare to provoke my wrath...
You see, I was perfectly happy with my undead life, following my lord, the Paragon of War, experiencing the beauty of life, when, all of a sudden, because a Paragon danced to music, the heavens chose to kill my favorite band.
And yes, the Twilight Composers died at the hands of the Heavens Court. Honestly, I don’t know why they chose to kill my favorite band. Of all the people in the universe, they couldn’t find someone else to offend; instead, they chose me," Asmodeus laughed.
"So I killed them, millions, perhaps billions. You see, unlike the Paragon, who sees the good in people, I don’t. I only see evil, and so I made it a rule to always bring evil under my rule.
In simple terms, while the Paragon would spare you, I wouldn’t. After all, I am a Necromancer, so my power grows where there is death.
It is also why I will be killing you all today. As my master said, there is a danger coming and already here, so we need all hands on deck. Since you losers don’t appreciate your lives, then hand over your bodies."
Asmodeus pointed his spear at Lord Mordrika. "Do you dare cross weapons with me?"
He moved, and Lord Mordrika had no choice but to summon his spear and attack as well. However, the moment their weapons met, Lord Mordrika felt defeat hang over his head.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you, but I inherit 10% of the power of each of my undead, so even if there were ten of you, you wouldn’t measure up to half of me."
Asmodeus moved and appeared behind Lord Mordrika, and as he had promised, he landed a slap across his face, blinding the poor Demon Lord for a moment.
Lord Mordrika lost his balance. However, before he could fall, Asmodeus caught him and helped him stabilize himself.
Then he grinned and landed yet another slap, this one sending him flying backward.
"I guess it is time to train my slapping skills," Asmodeus said as he ditched his staff and started to unleash one slap after another, making sure every slap echoed across the battlefield, sending chills down the spines of the ice demons still alive.
Soon, they were also overwhelmed by the undead as Asmodeus had converted them all to use weapons. Hunter and his team retreated to the side and started to watch Asmodeus mess around with Lord Mordrika.
"You know, when you said you would be summoning reinforcements, I expected you to summon someone more tame," Uncle Jojo said, now devoid of all drunken aura.
"Klaus wanted me to summon Asmodeus. He wanted the universe to witness his power. That said, I want to make sure they also see what awaits those who would dare mess around with the Paragon."
Hunter’s reply made the five uncles sigh.
"I suppose that makes sense then. Though I never expected a whole Demon Lord to be this weak," Uncle Ziggy remarked, then sheathed his twin revolvers.
Meanwhile, Lady Elysia and Aoi were having a different conversation.
"Where are you ladies right now?"
"The Beast Universe. We have located the second Asura Key and will soon be heading to the Wyvern Empire for the last key."
"I guess you are almost done."
Aoi nodded. She had been a bit bored the past couple of days, so when she saw a battle, she chose to come stretch her legs and arms. If only she had known it would end this quickly...
"Mother-in-law, do you want to join us? I am pretty sure you would enjoy that more than sitting idle on Planet Caelmir."
Lady Elysia, who was already eager to ask whether she could join them, nodded, sheathed her sword, and turned to Hunter.
"We are leaving, dear. We have nothing else to do here."
Hunter smiled and nodded. "See you later."
The moment his words ended, Lady Elysia and Aoi vanished, appearing inside the coffee shop, startling Aster, who was already in shock when Aoi vanished a couple of minutes ago.
Seeing her pale expression, Aoi smiled and introduced Lady Elysia.
"This is my mother-in-law, Lady Elysia."
Aster blinked a few times, then straightened her back.
"Y-You are the Angel of Death."
Her eyes widened, then a smile formed on her face.
"I am a huge fan. I mean, I like the Mad Hunter, but you are my favorite."
Lady Elysia smiled, seeing the sudden shift.
"Glad to meet someone who doesn’t want to kill me for being the mother of the Paragon."
"Kill you? Would I even have the courage to raise a weapon against you?" Aster said with a nervous laugh. "I could never do that, even if I was commanded to."
Klaus’ mom smiled and shook her head.
"I learned you are someone my son is interested in. If you don’t mind, would you care to travel with us for a bit? We can talk more on the way. I am sure you have a lot of questions."
"I would love that."
And just like that, the reluctant Aster had agreed to the offer she received from her idol.
In fact, aside from a few, most female warriors at one point in time adored the Angel of Death. After all, her legendary deeds before she became a traitor to all were nothing to scoff at.
So it was perfectly normal for Aster to be a huge fan.
