The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1486: Immortal Claw Scripture
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
‘A substantial amount of Divine Apples,’ Klaus expressed, observing a tree laden with approximately 40 ripe fruits from a distance of 300 meters.
Upon his arrival, he had anticipated finding perhaps five fruits, recalling that a Divine Apple tree yields a single fruit only once every 100,000 years. Frankly, merely obtaining one would have been a cause for appreciation.
The discovery of 47 Divine Apples presented a significant surprise. Nevertheless, Klaus was not one to stand on ceremony; the more, the better.
‘I suppose this tree predates Heaven’s Court’s assault on this location,’ he mused. Considering the 47 fruits adorning its branches, it had been 4.7 million years since the first fruit had been produced.
He considered himself fortunate to be the one to claim all the fruits.
His [Poison Affinity] had already achieved the perfect stage. While adequate for someone at the True Immortal stage, reaching the harmony stage, or even the perfect harmony stage, might bring the attainment of [Absolute Poison] affinity within reach.
Though he couldn’t equate his understanding of poison to that of Ohema, his own grasp was considerable. The greater his control over poison, the better.
As he advanced, Klaus perceived a subtle shift in the surrounding atmosphere. Initially, he paid it little mind, but when notifications began to appear, a smile graced his lips.
<Your ?????? Energy has sensed the presence of poison>
<Your ?????? is trying to absorb the poison energy>
<Your ?????? has absorbed a large amount of poison>
<Progress: 52%>
‘That takes care of itself.’ With the mysterious devourer within his soul sea diligently absorbing the poison, he hastened his approach to the tree. Standing directly beneath it, his gaze swept over the 47 fruits.
There, on a particular branch, a more mature fruit, riper than the rest, hung precariously. Observing its lustrous surface, Klaus discerned some runes etched upon it.
‘Icon, what purpose do these runes serve?’
[Once a Divine Apple is formed, it progresses through several growth stages. The longer it remains attached to the tree, the more potent it becomes. The fruit’s potency is discernible by the number of runes present.
This particular fruit bears 47 runes, indicating it has matured for an extensive period. Judging by its rune count, it contains enough potent poison to incapacitate even a celestial being. It would be prudent for the master not to consume it at this juncture.
Although the master possesses poison immunity, attempting to ingest such a potent substance would result in a most agonizing demise.]
Klaus’s lips curled slightly, but he remained silent.
Instead, he conjured a small blade and directed it to ascend. Once within proximity of the fruit, he guided the knife to sever the Divine Apple from its stem. Klaus mentally grasped the fruit, ensuring its gentle descent towards him.
He scrutinized it briefly, noting the runes, before carefully storing it away. Subsequently, he harvested the remaining 46 fruits.
Even if he were unable to consume them all immediately, Ohema, whose mastery over poison far surpassed his own, would undoubtedly benefit immensely. Thus, he intended to share the bounty with her.
Having gathered sufficient fruits, he proceeded to retrieve his severed arm, leg, and eyeball from their storage. A full day was spent traversing the distance, followed by an additional five hours dedicated to deciphering the lock mechanism on the door before he could gain entry.
His gaze fell upon his meticulously preserved severed arm and leg, eliciting a faint smile. He opened the glass containment unit and retrieved them.
‘This limb still retains considerable power even after all these years,’ he murmured.
While the severing of his limbs was undeniably disrespectful, he acknowledged that his overconfidence had led him to underestimate his adversary.
Now holding his recovered limbs served as a stark reminder: never again should he look down upon another.
He stowed the arm and then secured his eyeball. With all his separated body parts accounted for and stored, he set off for his final destination.
This leg of the journey required eight hours. Upon unlocking and entering the room, he was taken aback to find only a small stone tablet leaning against the wall.
Approaching cautiously, he stopped a meter away, his eyes widening in disbelief.
‘This can’t possibly be it, can it?’ he whispered, crouching for a clearer view.
‘Oh my heavens, it truly is,’ his breath hitched, causing him to gasp and blink several times.
‘It is indeed the one.’
Klaus tilted his head back and erupted into laughter.
‘The Immortal Claw Scripture… it is undeniably the Immortal Claw Scripture.’
Long ago, preceding the Paragon’s arrival in the Primordial Era, there existed a being known solely by the title, ‘Beast God.’
This Beast God was an entity who transcended all limitations, achieving a level beyond any measurable scale. It was said that during his era, he had devised seven formidable skills, each deserving a place among the universe’s top ten most potent Beast-type abilities.
Klaus was privy to this information, having personally hunted down some of his creations during the Primordial Era and subsequent eras he had experienced.
The Beast God, a being revered even by Klaus, sparked his curiosity and the desire to harness that knowledge for self-improvement.
While the Paragon was formidable, there existed entities superior to him, the Beast God being one such example. By obtaining one of his skills, Klaus felt like the luckiest individual in existence at that very moment.
"I must master it immediately," he declared.
[But, Master, mastering it will take months. This modest tablet contains billions of ancient and incredibly complex runes. We have less than three weeks until the vault's opening. If we aren't prepared by then, the corrupted warriors will be unleashed, and it will be too late for us.]
"I understand, Icon. However, this is something I cannot simply ignore. Its presence in my soul sea only fuels my impatience. I need to learn it to quell this anticipation. Furthermore, it will not require more than three weeks, as I intend to utilize multiple bodies for the learning process."
Klaus possessed the intellect required to comprehend this skill. Alone, the endeavor would indeed take approximately two months. Yet, by incorporating his other bodies, this timeframe could be significantly reduced.
His incarnation as Kaden was presently training on the second level of the Inheritance Tower. Rhazor was en route to the Devil's Maw, and Orion was journeying towards the Beast Universe.
Their combined efforts would undoubtedly simplify the process.
[I concede that Master could accelerate the learning process by including them. However, it might be prudent for the Master to delegate this task to another incarnation while focusing on other critical matters. After all, we have a formation to prepare, so perhaps that should take precedence.]
Klaus remained contemplative for several minutes before a sigh escaped him. His other incarnations were already aware of the impending tasks. With a gentle touch upon the tablet, he absorbed it into his soul sea.
"It was worth it. Coming here today has paid off," he exclaimed with a punch to the air, pure delight radiating from him. He was more than satisfied, having just discovered what he believed would elevate his Star Monarch Bloodline to its ultimate potential.
