Jian Anning prepares to shower, but Yu Zexiao returns and suggests they shower together. Before entering the bathroom, Jian Anning changes her mind due to her significant weight gain from pregnancy, and slams the door shut, leaving a confused Yu Zexiao outside.

"Anning, what's the matter?" Yu Zexiao sensed Jian Anning's heightened anxiety since their check-up that day. Logically, with the child being perfectly healthy, she should feel more at ease, so why the continued worry?

Gaining weight? It wasn't a significant issue. He had witnessed numerous actresses gain twenty pounds for a role, only to lose it swiftly. Truthfully, Jian Anning had been quite underweight previously. Coupled with her severe morning sickness during the initial months, she had actually lost weight despite being over three months pregnant. Apart from her abdomen, she was alarmingly thin.

Seeing her now, even with the weight gain, he perceived nothing amiss. It was rare to observe Jian Anning appearing so robust and well, both internally and externally. He actually found this appearance preferable to her prior exhaustion and gauntness.

The physician advised caution, suggesting minor dietary adjustments; it wasn't a major concern. He never anticipated Jian Anning would harbor feelings of inadequacy because of it.

"If you don't open the door, I'll have to break it down."

Yu Zexiao issued a 'threat,' and after a considerable pause, the lock on the bathroom door eventually clicked open. He nudged the door inward gently, only to find Jian Anning absent. A quick scan revealed the shower curtain shifting subtly—she was concealed behind it.

As Jian Anning moved, Yu Zexiao promptly approached: "You weren't in the tub, so why are you hiding back there?"

With the bathtub situated behind the shower curtain, Yu Zexiao assumed she intended to bathe and hurried to intervene.

Yet, as he drew nearer, he saw Jian Anning with her back to him; her shoulders trembled faintly.

"Anning, what's wrong?" He stepped forward, intending to speak with her, but then he detected her suppressed sobs.

At this point, Yu Zexiao was genuinely alarmed: "Anning, what is it? Tell me!"

She remained facing away, irrespective of his words, continuing to stifle her cries. Yu Zexiao's shock intensified: "Anning, what's happening? Tell me, is there an issue with the baby?"

The baby, the baby—was that his sole concern? Honestly, the baby was now Anning's utmost priority as well, but why did it provoke such distress within her?

Reflecting on this, Jian Anning's weeping grew more pronounced. Yu Zexiao, now anxious, firmly turned her shoulders to face him: "What's wrong? Tell me."

"Don't look at me!" Even though she was hurt by Yu Zexiao's perceived lack of personal concern, she still dreaded him witnessing her in such a 'deplorable' state.

However, the first thing Yu Zexiao noticed were the 'twin peaks' that had enlarged due to her pregnancy.

To be frank, slimming down would invariably reduce these prominent features, whereas weight gain typically amplified them.

Particularly during pregnancy, how could they not become fuller? Although Jian Anning had gained weight—it wasn't excessive, and her weight was not significantly greater than other women of similar build. The doctor's comment was merely a precaution against further uncontrolled weight gain. It was just that her weight gain had been rapid, like inflating a balloon, over a little more than a month from late April until now, which was somewhat surprising.

When Jian Anning detected Yu Zexiao's prolonged silence, she surmised he must be repulsed by her appearance, and her heart sank further with despair: "What are you staring at? Have I become fat and unsightly, and you now look down on me?"
