Author’s Note (2014):

Spanning from February 28, 2011, to April 28, 2014. In the span of three years and two months, the saga of The King’s Avatar has finally reached its conclusion under my hand.

It's tough for me to confess, yet as I uploaded the concluding chapter, my pulse raced unexpectedly. Whether it stemmed from anxiety or deep emotion, I can't say, but such a moment was entirely new across these three years and two months—never during fierce monthly ticket contests, pursuits of annual honors, or crafting any segment of the novel's storyline.

I've long seen myself as a remarkably composed and skilled professional author, but the instant I released that final chapter, a wave of dread hit me. The term “FIN” brought an overwhelming sense of emptiness, dropping me to my knees, leaving me so rattled that my Weibo post overlooked the #TheKing’sAvatar# hashtag. Sleep eluded me that night.

It's finished.

Their journey presses on, yet the chapter of my life devoted to penning their novel has closed. A handful of side stories will follow, merely fleshing out their backstory. Their path ahead rests solely with you. With steadfast resolve and belief, dignity and triumph. Wishing you every success. Encountering all of you stands as the greatest treasure in my existence.

Yet each person treads their own path.

Whether through my core tasks of translating and editing the novel, or the fanfiction, analyses, additional content translations, and memes it spurred me to produce, it has been a true privilege to embark on this path alongside all of you. The King’s Avatar is genuinely unparalleled, delivering a gripping narrative of fervor and triumph against the odds, and I’ve strived to accord it the reverence it merits. I wish that this tale has filled you with the same delight, thrill, sorrow, introspection, and affection it has given me. Narratives like this unite us all; narratives like this define our humanity.

I’ve labored on TKA for two years straight, held this persona for the same span. From discovering the donghua, delving into the novel, turning into a translator, and joining the discords.

TKA wove itself so deeply into my routine. Even during periods of low energy or scarce time for translations, it remained a constant presence. Reaching the end of this translation feels intimidating.

The future remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: I was immensely lucky to connect with you all—readers, our editor, translator colleagues, fellow enthusiasts. Such an opportunity was a rare blessing.

Thus, thank you, thank you everyone. It’s been phenomenal knowing you, collaborating with you.

Yet, this isn’t farewell. Much remains ahead. TKA is a phenomenal, expansive creation. Countless characters, boundless vitality, endless feelings. That captures my experience with The King’s Avatar. Two years back, I stumbled upon the TKA donghua. Honestly, it blew me away. I binged every episode nonstop, followed by the manhua, and then the novel. Never dreamed I’d contribute to such an epic, but the team’s recruitment post prompted my application, and now we reach the finale of this magnificent saga.

I regret not being able to contribute more to the project. The previous year passed in a complete whirlwind for me, moving from military duties to university studies. I hold only immense appreciation for the rest of the team, who stayed supportive and patient even during my hectic times. It's a true privilege to have taken part in this adventure, no matter how modest my contribution was.

I've handled editing for more than 5 years, which matches the time we've devoted to translating and releasing TKA. Some readers might spot my editor tag from Gravity days, Battle Through The Heavens, The Nine Cauldrons, Zhan Long, Great Demon King, I’m Really a Superstar, or a few other novels I've touched (though I switched tags later). As TKA's “dedicated editor,” my involvement has been sporadic because of school and personal matters. I began collaborating with Nom on TKA back in high school, and now I'm wrapping up my last university semester—it's truly been quite the ride. With a fresh phase starting in my life, I'm bowing out of the editing scene, but I'll stick around as a reader to keep cheering on.
