The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 2065: Dangerous Entities
Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
Davina recoiled and gritted her teeth.
’So strong!’ She thought—watching in horror as Diamantona killed Vadyn like she was nothing. He did not even need to move an inch to shatter her into thousands of fragments. ’As expected of someone who even Rex said was dangerous. I’m not his match at all, even in my werewolf form.’
Just from one move alone, she knew that the gap between them was too vast.
In fact, she didn’t even know whether Rex was stronger than him.
Regardless, she knew that her role in this next battle was reduced to a supporting one.
Aspiring to do more than that would be too dangerous, and she was worried that her well-being would distract Rex and cause him to make a fatal mistake. She wouldn’t be able to forgive herself if Rex lost simply because of her.
Her pride would be too wounded that she might kill herself if that ever happened
"Focus," Rex’s heavy voice crept through the air, seeping into her ears. He was still facing Diamantona, but he did not need to turn to know that she was taken aback by Diamantona’s strength. "Show not even a single weakness to the enemies, remember?"
Davina snapped out of her stupor and focused again.
Her gaze shifted to the other two High Millinars—one was still vigorous while the other was limping.
Vadyn had almost killed the latter before she died.
Both of those High Millinars would be her target. Distracting them would be enough.
"Keep your mind open. Listen to my voice and don’t question it—the real battle starts now."
"Mn. I’ll follow your lead."
Boom—!
Rex wasted no time, breaking the standoff with a sudden charge straight at High Millinar Julas.
High Millinar Julas was the closest one, and would be easiest to kill.
His animalistic frame shot straight down—with blinding speed, a streak of darkness, and the Red Dawn of Kaiser burned with a reddish vapor as he charged it with the Brutal Impulse Direct Moon Ability. It charged his claws with so much immortal energy that they vibrated as he descended.
One hit, and High Millinar Julas would die before the battle against Diamantona began.
Now, the sudden surge of power from High Millinar Julas earlier made sense.
Somehow, Diamantona had possessed him, using him as a vessel to use the red crystal power.
It not only prevented him from dying from Rex’s strike, but also retaliated.
Since he now knew that the power was borrowed, he should be strong enough to overpower it with one finishing strike. But it seemed he wasn’t the only one had the idea to strike first and fast. Simultaneously, with matching speed, Diamantona charged.
Both blurred past each other, a fleeting exchange measured in milliseconds.
Rex’s shoulder brushed against Diamantona’s shoulder—a glancing touch, almost insignificant.
And then they were past, each locked on their target.
For a second, Diamantona thought that Rex would abandon his offense to protect his woman. It was the natural instinct of a man, so he was expecting a brawl after that brush. He was mildly surprised that Rex decided to keep going towards High Millinar Julas instead.
’Is she hiding some unusual power, too?’ Diamantona thought and fixed on Davina.
Regardless, he shook his head.
It was Rex’s mistake, as there was no chance Davina would be able to match a Scion’s strength/
Swoosh—!
He shot toward Davina; his red eyes flashed with cold malice.
Davina saw him coming and recoiled.
She raised her hands, summoning a protective barrier of starlight and moonlight combined.
Both energies merged into a single power—that represented the power of the sky. A fusion between two compatible energies surpassed the raw strength of either one. It was her power as the Heiress of Moon and Stars, and because of it, her protective barrier was several times harder than it had any right to be.
Even then, she wasn’t going to get cocky against Diamantona.
As he closed in, she summoned more layers to secure her properly.
Precautions are mandatory against someone like him.
Just then, a bulge of red crystal emerged from Diamantona’s right arm. It rose a few inches up from the forearm, and then elongated forward into a curving blade that reached past his hand. It was powerful and beautiful at the same time.
And with it, he struck.
Crash—!
Davina’s eyes widened.
Even with her precautions, she watched as all layers were shattered upon impact.
It pierced through easily like a blade through paper, and continued straight for her heart.
She wasn’t underestimating Diamantona, not even for a moment. The instant she realized she was being targeted, she poured as much energy as she could into her defense within that fraction of a second. Even Aylith’s blessing had activated, further reinforcing her barrier’s protective power.
But they were still nothing for Diamantona.
Her pupils dilated as she watched Diamantona push the blade further with an indifferent face.
Not surprised at all that her barriers shattered easily against his strength.
In that moment of life and death, what happened to Vadyn flashed inside her mind.
’I’m dead!’
Just as the blade reached a few inches away from her chest, a translucent barrier manifested.
And unlike her barriers, the moment the tip of the crystal blade struck, it was stopped mid-track, unable to pierce through. Diamantona’s eyes watched the sparks exploding outward and frowned, surprised to see his attack being blocked.
Before he could react, Davina dissolved into starlight and reappeared a distance away.
Her short-range teleportation carried her to safety in the span of a single breath.
Not that fast considering the level of power of the warriors within the Purgation Duel—that could attack much faster than a single breath, but enough against the surprised Diamantona. She pulled back, making more distance from Diamantona, and reached for her chest.
Something blocked Diamantona’s attack, but the experience still made her heart pound.
Her breaths came in and out rapidly as she almost died.
An instant is all Diamantona needs, exactly as he killed Vadyn.
On the other side, Rex’s claws thrust toward High Millinar Julas with a thunderous boom. Dark writings crawled into existence around his claws. And then, a powerful crimson beam burst forth—an extinction ray aimed directly at the High Millinar’s core.
But High Millinar Julas’ body hardened into red crystal and shattered before the beam struck.
Rex watched the crystal fragments scatter to the side and materialize not far away.
Both his and Diamantona’s failed.
Recovering quickly, Rex and Diamantona retreated, returning to their respective sides. Everything from their sudden attacks—and failures happened in seconds, and now the air was thick with tension. Neither side succeeded and was shoved back into a stalemate.
"Do you understand now?" Rex asked without looking. "Against him, be even more careful."
Davina swallowed through her dry throat. "I understand."
Just from the exchange, she understood very well that this was no ordinary enemy.
It was still only the appetizer. Diamantona did not even look like he was trying—and yet he was already this lethal, this dangerous. She couldn’t imagine how menacing he would become if he went all out. It would be horrifying.
"Can you defeat him?" Davina asked hesitantly. "Is his strength as you expected?"
"He’s stronger than I expected," Rex answered truthfully. "But still, leave him to me."
Hearing his firm voice assured her that they could still win.
On the other side, Diamantona was still frowning, still confused as to where that barrier came from.
He washed his body with energy and then glanced at his shoulder.
Seeing a mark there that was shaped like a crown, his frown grew deeper. His gaze shifted to Rex, then back to the mark. ’He marked me when we brushed earlier? No wonder his descent path was strangely close to me. He predicted my flight and deliberately got close to mark me. For a barbarian, he’s clever and quite meticulous.’
A smirk crept onto Diamantona’s lips.
Compared to the Scion from the Anger Stratum whom he killed, Rex was completely different.
Most Scion from the Anger Stratum was completely a nut-case—focusing solely on going on a rampage and indulging in their anger. It was their source of strength; Diamantona didn’t blame them, but that also narrowed their minds.
Predicting these Scions was far easier.
But Rex was nothing like that.
’Someone as strong as him would be hurt the most in the future.’ Diamantona felt a stabbing pain inside his chest, feeling melancholy for Rex. The stronger one becomes, the harsher the future would pummel. ’Don’t worry... I’ll make sure you die now and rescue you from the pain.’
He reached up with an energy-infused hand and shattered the mark.
Naturally, it was the King of Kings skill.
Rex had used the Law of Foresight to predict Diamantona’s movement, and saw a black streak heading straight for Davina. He dived down first and intercepted Diamantona’s path to place the Brand of Crown mark and activate the King of Kings skill.
It locked the area to the battle to those at the 2-star Awakened Demigod rank and above.
Since Davina was below that, the skill protected her.
"I thought you were afraid of the future," Rex’s mocking voice echoed as he pointed down at the Scion, lips curled into a smirk. "I’m sure you can tell that my attack would’ve obliterated High Millinar Julas, giving him a painless death. Why did you save him? Did you bear hatred for him—wanting him to live and suffer? Or perhaps—
He turned his hand and pointed at his own face, "Are you afraid of fighting me alone?"
Diamantona wanted everyone to die out of fear for the future.
For saving High Millinar Julas, Rex didn’t hold back from turning Diamantona’s drive back at him.
"You are mistaken." Diamantona placed a hand over his chest, and his face softened with sadness. "The one who ends a life must do so with pure intent. Your intentions are impure. You desire nothing but the pleasure of taking a life. Mine are pure. The universe is a cruel place, and I wish to save everyone from its clutches.
"Only I am permitted to kill for the greater good. I am the only pure one."
’Only he was permitted to kill for the greater good? Only he was the pure one?’ Davina’s eyes twitched. ’What kind of logic is that? Is he a madman? Rex said that he’s similar to him; I guess that tracks. Still, this is absurd.’
Seeing a person spouting this twisted sense of justice sent a shiver down her spine.
Not only because it was crazy to hear, but because she could see that Diamantona really believed what he was saying. He truly believed that everyone should die—because there was absolute darkness in the future that would only bring pain and suffering.
"Is that so?" Rex’s lips curled into a nasty grin. "I guess you’ll have to deal with it."
"Hm?" Diamantona’s brows furrowed together.
He stared at Rex’s mischievous smile and then immediately snapped towards High Millinar Julas.
Splash—!
Before he could react, High Millinar Julas drove his own hand into his chest. The heart within burst into a pulp of meat without resistance. Such an act should have brought agony beyond measure, yet he made not a single sound.
No groan. No heavy breath. Nothing.
Diamantona saw that his eyes were already dead, devoid of any sign of life, like a puppet.
And with his remaining strength, he grabbed his own head and twisted hard, snapping his own neck.
Crack—!
For a second—Diamantona stared at High Millinar Julas as he dropped down to the dark ocean. A splash resounded when the corpse landed. Considering that he already reigned over High Millinar Julas’ body, he should have sensed something was wrong.
But he didn’t.
Somehow, Rex was able to get to the body without him noticing.
"I already gave you a heads-up, so what’s with the sour face?" Rex asked with a grin. "Did it still catch you by surprise?"
