Rex convinced the Warden of his hidden power by having him attempt to peer into his and the sisters' futures, only to find them inexplicably obscured. The Warden, intrigued, agreed to Rex's request for a favor, which involved using a special platform in a void to speed up a process, hinting at a more significant, yet unrevealed, request Rex also made.

Fulfilling Rex’s favour was quite difficult to do.

It wasn’t as simple as snapping his fingers—as he needed to consult a collective move with a few other Wardens who were currently free from heavy duties. He needed to meet with them first and discuss how to proceed with this.

But it didn’t mean that the Warden couldn’t fulfill it.

Just that it would take extra steps that he wasn’t expecting to need to do.

Above Rex’s mysterious background, his raw divinity was quite low, so the Warden wasn’t expecting to do anything hard. He was far stronger than Rex, and the disparity in strength should’ve made it obvious that the grade of crisis for the two was vastly different.

He was wrong.

As a Scion, Rex was dealing with unimaginable threats—that is the cost of threading that path.

Cost of threading the path toward invincibility.

"Know that despite your background, I won’t hesitate to force you to fulfill my favour on the day I need it," the Warden said as he walked through the tear in reality, returning to his obelisk. "I’m easy to give my trust to a new acquaintance, but when it’s broken—" He turned and closed the tear slowly. "It would be impossible to earn it back."

"Never crossed my mind to sully your trust," Rex nodded firmly. "I appreciate the help."

Swish—!

Soon, the reality tear closed, and Rex and the others were now isolated in this unknown space.

Rex turned and looked around, soaking in the sight.

At first, he wasn’t quite sure that coming to the Sundial Arch would even be a good idea, as there was a big chance that it would be a wasted trip, but he decided to go anyway. Gaining help from anyone under the Weaver of Time would be a big help.

Time is a large part of achieving power.

Naturally, being helped by anyone under the God who wielded the power of time would be helpful.

And Rex was glad that he decided to try anyway, as it went really well.

"It somehow went smoothly," Davina commented with a surprised tone, tapping his shoulder lightly. "I am surprised that you did not turn the exchange into a fight—like you usually would. I was worried that you were going to do that with how you’re acting earlier."

"I’m confused," Rex glanced at her. "Is that supposed to be a compliment?"

"Yes, it was." Lilliana chuckled from the side. "Just that she’s too arrogant to say it to you straight."

"It’s not a compliment. I don’t know what you’re talking about."

"Davina, you’ve been a war commander most of your life, and you don’t dare to be blunt to your fiancé?"

"Err—" Davina circled her hand to encompass the entire dimension. "Where are we anyway?"

"We are in the Temporal Labyrinth; the same realm the Warden threw me into earlier," Rex answered—then strode toward the sizeable hourglass at the platform’s far end. His hand brushed its frame—and his eyes flickered with a light visibly only to him. "It’s what I requested. A place for us to train."

Davina’s brow furrowed. "Temporal Labyrinth? Then why did you break out of it before?’

"This area is different." He turned around to face her. "A contained pocket within the realm—designed for training. Not the endless maze I was plunged into. That was the heart of the Temporal Labyrinth. It is also the most lethal part."

"How exactly is this place designed for training?" Lilliana asked.

From what she was seeing, the entire platform was only a flat with nothing meaningful for either energy or physical training. She could feel that the realm had more to it than meets the eye—and it must be tied to the power of time, but she wasn’t really sure.

And though this place belonged to the Warden, she was sure Rex had the answer to her question.

She was right.

"It skewed time to help us increase the mastery of our powers," Rex explained—as the System finished scanning the entire platform, telling him how it worked far better than the Warden did. "This hourglass controls how skewed the time would be, and it has its own strain as the level increases, so we need to be careful."

"Bringing us here was a mistake then," Davina replied firmly.

"And how is that?"

"Because we would only be holding you back."

Davina was prideful in her talent, as she was always the highest standard across the empire.

She was always the one whom every single person from the young generation looked up to.

She was the jewel of the empire.

And naturally, she had always viewed those who couldn’t keep pace as dead weight. No need for her to be closely associated with people who couldn’t stand anywhere near her level. And now, by her personal ruthless calculus, she understood that at this moment, she would be dragging Rex down.

Rex could most certainly endure a higher level of strain from the skewed time.

It wasn’t a matter of inferiority, but simply the fact.

Rex had always been monstrous in his endurance, even from the first time they met. A wall that simply refused to break. Davina knew better than to think she could match that. Perhaps now that she was one of the Silverstars, her body could endure more.

But endurance was never only about flesh and bone.

It was also about the mind, and hers wasn’t as unbreakable as Rex’s was.

Lilliana was no exception.

She had her fair share of trouble in the past, but she had less experience in combat than Davina, so there was no way she could have an unbreakable mind. Right now—the two of them would only be dragging Rex down.

"Do you think I haven’t taken that into account?" Rex raised a brow.

He looked at the two with a sharp gaze, pissed that they thought he hadn’t taken that into account.

Pissed that they thought he forgot about their limitations.

Knowing that his enemies are only going to be stronger and stronger, Rex had decided to be willing to do anything in order to secure victory, and thus secure the safety of those around him. It was the reason why he took the sisters’ advice to create friendly ties.

Create ties that would help him in time of need, so he decided to do exactly that.

But it seemed the sisters hadn’t done the same thing.

Hadn’t looked at the good in his combat prowess, and adopted factors that they could use to themselves.

Factors that could help them grow even stronger.

"I already brought it up to the Warden." Rex looked up at the two circling rings above, and with a hard stomp against the platform, the two rings stopped abruptly. "I told him that the training place should be able to be separated into three independent areas."

Before the sisters’ eyes, the two rings began to secrete a translucent membrane-like material.

It was a green, blurry haze that seeped from the inner part of the rings and bled downward, connecting to the platform below. And before their very eyes, the platform that was a spacious circle a few seconds ago was now fractured into three distinct areas.

Each one hosted one person.

Only then did Davina realize how wrong she was.

Knowing that there must be side effects to skewing time in order to master their powers quickly, Rex had asked the Warden about it earlier. And knowing that the strain would be heavy, he decided that best for the platform to have three areas.

One for each of them to reduce inefficiency but include all.

"As the Alpha of the Silverstar Pack—I am obliged and willing to look after every single pack member," Rex met with Davina’s eyes again, and then raised his index finger as if it was a warning. "Do remember that going forward, fiancé."

Moments later.

Rex was now sitting cross-legged in his own area with his eyes closed.

Just earlier, he had already helped Davina and Lilliana set their level to match their endurance.

According to the System’s scan, the hourglass held three distinct levels, with level one being the lowest and three the highest. Each level dictates how skewed time flows. And the strain from each level came not from physical force, but from the weight of skewed time pressing against the mind.

Both Davina and Lilliana could only endure the first level.

Surprisingly enough, they couldn’t even reach level two.

Davina almost reached the threshold, but she failed when the skewed time near level two.

As for Rex, he had cut through level one with ease and climbed to level three without pause.

He’d expected nothing less than to reach the threshold between level two and level three—so when his mind began to feel like it was being crushed into pulp near the upper end of level two, he only gritted his teeth and pushed harder.

No mercy. Especially not for himself.

Behind him was the responsibility as the Alpha of the Silverstar Pack, who were supposed to protect and lead the pack against anyone who wanted to do them harm. Giving up would mean sacrificing them. It would be too expensive for Rex.

More than death.

Once he touched level three, he immediately stopped at the threshold.

It was difficult, but he reached the threshold in the end.

Rex opened his eyes and groaned at the sheer pressure his mind was forced to endure.

<Calculating...>

<Notice: One minute under the influence of level three is equivalent to five days.>

Even though he had gone through countless pains involving the mind, none was quite like this. It wasn’t really pain, but a heavy pressure that pushed him to the brink of going unconscious. Rex would need to really be alert, as one moment of weakness would knock him out cold.

Regardless, he was still not confident whether this was going to be enough.

Earlier, before leaving, the Warden said that they could only choose one.

He meant that Rex’s group could only choose one power to train, or else the platform would malfunction.

Of course, Rex was going to master the Pure God Sense skill as that would allow him to finally be able to sense immortal energy properly. And considering the skill he was going to try mastering֫—he did not know whether this was going to be enough.

But he was going to try anyway, or perhaps push the level even higher.

Maybe try reaching the middle area of level three.

Either way, the Temporal Labyrinth realm was actually perfect for him to train this skill.

Every inch of this place was filled with immortal energy, and it would certainly help him a lot in this.

Just as Rex was about to start, a notification appeared in his vision that put a smile on his face.

A smile so wide that it looked unnatural on his face.

"You liar..." Rex whispered. "You said it was difficult to do, but it’s really not."

...

Meanwhile, the Mortal Realm.

Calidora opened her eyes when she sensed the shift in the air that was subtle but was there.

Sweat soaked her skin, and her face had paled to the colour of a ghost drained of blood—yet this only meant the child within her was thriving. Slowly, with visible effort, she pushed herself upright and sat on the edge of the bed.

Moving became harder now for her.

A Dark Elven servant standing by on the side quickly helped her.

She walked towards the embrasure that was already fixed from the incident with the Blood Moon.

It was the castle’s regenerative ability that fixed all damage in mere hours.

Calidora lifted her gaze to the fractured sky, still scarred by what had transpired. A faint emerald glow was spreading across the upper atmosphere, soft as a veil. A smile touched her lips as her hand moved in slow circles over her swollen belly. "Look, dear," She glanced down, her voice a whispered warmth. "It’s your father. He’s protecting us."
