The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1882: A Powerful Man

Rex had gathered info on every one of them. The majority hailed from affluent families managing mid-sized enterprises, Aaran standing out as the wealthiest and deeply entangled in political games. That explained his knowledge—and his boldness in retorting against Aksa.
A pathway that would grant him entry into the Cavity.
Her primary intent was to introduce Rex to Aaran, yet things weren’t progressing smoothly.
"Was your idea to drag me here just to mingle with him?" Rex bent close to Davina and murmured. "He’s accustomed to dominating the group, and he resents my arrival. Just observe his expression. This isn’t panning out."
"At times, I can’t help but suspect you marked her on purpose," she remarked irritably.
She was absolutely convinced of it. Otherwise, he couldn’t have toppled the empire and Sky City.
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Rex took an uneasy sip of his wine. "I didn’t intend for that to happen."
It’d be wiser for her or Lilliana to handle the conversation with him.
Rex cast a look at Aaran, noting the tension etched on his face. Once the centerpiece of their circle, now his companions buzzed eagerly around Rex. This intensified particularly after the clash with Aksa and his cronies.
Even a solid connection would suffice for their needs.
Remaining passive like this didn’t suit him at all. Action was required.
Davina struck a bargain with him: aid in accessing the Cavity in return for abandoning Lilliana, allowing him to pursue her. She’d undoubtedly bring it up post-dinner—though Rex harbored doubts about his compliance.
And right then, Rex’s gaze locked with Bellana’s.
"Mmh," Lilliana nodded, exhaustion lingering from before. "Don’t linger too long."
Rather than heading to the restroom, he slipped out of the restaurant and scanned the surroundings. As before, the mall throbbed with life, speakers blasting lively tunes. Glancing right, he spotted a glass door opening to an outdoor area.
No one occupied the space.
Truthfully, Rex hadn’t anticipated such contemporary vibes in the God Realm.
The blare of car horns and motorcycle engines rang like sweet melodies in his ears. Ages had passed since last he heard them.
She halted next to Rex and rested against the railing. "Am I... in trouble?"
"I’m not scheming to end you." She grasped her braid, draping it over the opposite shoulder to face Rex squarely. "Not even under gunpoint would I. I cherish my life too dearly and crave more years."
Bellana rummaged in her purse and retrieved a golden cigarette holder.
"No." Rex began shaking his head, then reconsidered. Memories flooded back of his initial smoke, forced by Edward and Kyla. "On second thought, sure. It’s been ages." He accepted one, slipping it between his lips.
As the tip ignited, Rex drew in a deep breath, exhaling the smoke in a prolonged stream.
"Do you smoke?" Rex inquired, reclining against the railing while savoring the crisp night breeze.
"How old are you exactly?" Rex arched an eyebrow. "Through all those millennia, you never once sampled it?"
Rex sputtered on the smoke, hacking in a fit of coughs upon hearing her words.
"I figured you were centuries old," Rex responded, eyes wide with astonishment fixed on her. He’d grown accustomed to being the baby among peers centuries or millennia his senior. "Yet you’re younger than I am!"
Naturally, she shared that with Rex knowing it’d shock him, given her three-star Demigod status in divinity at such a tender age. An astonishing feat for one so youthful. Though he had little ground to act surprised himself.
Over the following minutes, Rex savored the cigarette.
Finishing it, he tossed the butt aside.
"Mmh?"
"Maybe it’s my display earlier that captivated you," he pressed on, gazing intently as if his words were everyday chat with a stranger. "Or maybe your youth drives you to explore new thrills."
Silence met him.
"I-I mean, which unattached woman wouldn’t crave that with you—after today’s events?" She fidgeted with her feet, shuffling in place while dodging his gaze. "In every cluster, no realm thrives without power reigning supreme."
He positioned himself so near that his unique masculine aroma wafted straight to her.
"You haven’t answered my question yet," Rex breathed softly.
"Then," Rex murmured, tilting her chin to force their eyes to meet, "seize this opportunity. I need a favor from you."
Rex drew close to her ear, murmuring a secret request.
"I possess the connection, but Rex... I can’t betray him like that," she replied, wavering on the favor. "He’s a friend too. Should he discover my involvement, he’ll—"
Bellana dropped her gaze and nibbled her lower lip.
Shortly after, the dinner concluded.
"Nothing much," Rex gave a casual shrug. "Just securing some insurance."
"How will you reach me about our deal?" she inquired. "You’ll honor your word, right?"
A voice suddenly halted Aaran right as he started to turn away and depart.
"Hmm?"
"Nice meeting you," Rex remarked, extending his hand.
"What did you guys arrive in?" Bellana questioned, pulling a car key from her purse. "I can offer you a ride if you’d like."
Dinner wrapped up just like that.
Rest was essential for her.
After they had left, he bent toward the window.
"Won’t that just provoke him?" she asked with concern.
"Fine, if that’s truly your wish."
In the meantime, a mile from the building, a supercar raced along the street.
"The fuck?" Aaran swore, utterly baffled.
