The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1826: Absolute Anger Effect

Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
Rex covered a sleeping Princess Davina with a blanket before exiting the chamber, leaving Lilliana untouched as she secretly observed with an amused smile. At the peak, he encountered Nivellen's manifested consciousness, who revealed her surveillance of him and Kaiser, warning that the Sky Judgment beam nearly vaporized his soul and that Kaiser may be a mere front manipulated by other Lunirich Gods due to their blood moon connection. Urged to anticipate broader divine interference, Rex attempted to connect with Evelyn through the Symphony of Two Souls but failed, calming his rising berserk anger and planning to seek aid from the Dame of Snow upon returning. He then delved into the Absolute Effect Manual, uncovering the profound protective effects of his Blank form as Scion of the Anger Stratum.

Upon becoming a Blank, a Scion could then unlock the Absolute Effect.

Kei Xun had explained this to him earlier. She described the Absolute Effect as the initial boon granted by invincibility, a sign of its approval toward the Scion's determination and hard work. Its power was immense. Now, Rex discovered that the Absolute Effect served as a Scion's fundamental power.

This power stood as the distinctive trait shared across each stratum.

All Scions within the identical stratum possessed precisely the same Absolute Effect.

Belonging to the Anger Stratum as a Scion, Rex unlocked the Absolute Anger Effect. From his grasp of it, this resembled a passive ability that turned his rage into an unseen power—triggering instantly when a lethal strike neared him.

Rex had already felt its influence on several occasions.

The initial instance occurred during Empress Morgana's attempt to surprise him.

Even without sensing the incoming threat, the Absolute Anger Effect triggered on its own, compelling him to pivot toward the danger. Through his stare, the fury within him surged as scorching energy that halted any assault—be it physical, magical, or mental—right in place.

This power ensured his survival grew tougher for enemies as long as his anger persisted.

The mysterious new organ inside him, known as the Invincible Spleen, which controls the shift into his Blank state, formed the heart of this capability.

This fresh organ drew in Rex's rage, transforming it into energy that fueled and strengthened this power.

Beyond that, heightened sensitivity to rage now gripped him.

Those whom he targeted with anger, or who harbored rage against him, appeared clearly to his perception. He could detect them over great distances, functioning much like a locator. Right now, despite the hundreds of miles separating them, Rex could spot Rezar afar if he concentrated.

Indeed, the Sky Judgment had hit him prior to ending Rezar.

Yet, thanks to the Absolute Anger Effect, such concerns faded away.

He held the freedom to confront and eliminate Rezar at any moment he chose.

Moreover, Rezar's position sharpened with each passing hour. Evidently, his fury intensified as memories of the shame inflicted by a lowly Mortal Realm being replayed in his mind.

Rex tilted his head toward the heavens and sighed.

He had hoped to glimpse Kaiser overhead, but sadly, Kaiser was absent from the skies.

As he delved further into the manual, additional details about the Absolute Anger Effect unfolded.

One detail caught his eye right away: the power's strength could increase with his proficiency level. Proficiency levels ranged from early to advanced and perfect. Only the early section lay open to him; the rest hid behind crimson barriers.

Apparently, advancing in the Absolute Anger Effect was required to unveil the remaining parts.

Perhaps familiarizing himself more with the Blank form was necessary too.

Regardless, access remained denied to him presently.

Toward the page's end, a section detailed a method named Lucid Nightmare.

"A technique that would help cultivate the Fury Gland," Rex voiced aloud, repeating the words. Deep furrows etched his brow. "The Fury Gland is responsible for your connection to the Highseat of Invincibility, and it only feeds on anger."

Rex scanned the technique once more and tsked in annoyance.

Essentially, Lucid Nightmare acted as a meditative practice that endlessly relived his most harrowing memories.

This method stirred up rage to nurture the emerging magical organ, the Fury Gland, allowing it to mature.

Developing this magical organ completely counted as a key step to elevate his proficiency.

"Naturally, it would turn out this way," Rex muttered, dragging a hand over his face in frustration. "After all, it's the Anger Stratum. Every Scion has to nurture their rage—and amplify it even more. I'd wished for a different path, but reality always hits hard."

Rex lowered himself into a meditation pose and shut his eyes.

Engaging his Blank form, he initiated the Lucid Nightmare technique.

While employing this method, time dragged on at a sluggish pace.

This stemmed from reliving every trauma from his past repeatedly, enabling the Fury Gland to absorb the generated rage. With each nightmare's conclusion, Rex's form jerked slightly before another plunged him back into shadows.

A soft, throbbing wind started emanating from his body, pressing rhythmically against the stagnant atmosphere.

Underfoot, the ground responded with a subtle, echoing quiver.

Yet, deep within the Lucid Nightmare, he paid no heed to the outer world's shifts.

Meanwhile, within the grotto, Princess Davina let out a soft groan as she stretched languidly. Sleep had evaded her for days, but this rest felt utterly refreshing. A sense of calm now enveloped her fully.

Perhaps it arose from Rex's presence nearby, freeing her from all concerns.

Any threats fell under Rex's capable handling, while her followers answered to a loyal aide.

For the first time in roughly a century, true relaxation claimed her.

Glancing downward, Princess Davina noticed the heavy, plush cover draped over her. A faint smile touched her lips at the discovery, though it twisted into a frown upon spotting Rex's absence. Her sibling, Lilliana, slumbered peacefully opposite.

"Where did he go?" She rose, rubbing her eyes. "Doesn't he require rest? Probably not."

Heat flushed her cheeks as she recalled intending to share sleep with him, only for him to stay awake entirely. The awkwardness stung—yet a tremor shook the surrounding walls, snapping her from the thought.

Bits of dust and stone dislodged from edges, proving the vibration real.

Extending her awareness, she detected an unsettling force beyond the grotto.

Princess Davina slipped from the bed and entered the pool, intent on investigating the disturbance.

With Rex nearby, it likely posed no threat, as he would surely shield them.

Emerging outside, she surfaced through the water and cleared the droplets from her face. Looking upward, astonishment stole her breath. She'd anticipated some routine rumble from the Black Rift, but reality differed vastly.

"What's going on?" She whispered, throat tight with shock.

Overhead, the heavens tore apart in an unfamiliar spectacle.

A cataclysm of horrifying, never-before-seen magnitude.

She observed a boiling white haze extending skyward, immense like an extra layer of sky, hissing as if the planet itself awakened. It blanketed miles wide. A quiet, lifeless mist that evoked divine intervention.

Yet, the vastness alone didn't crease her brow.

Rather, the essence of the energy did.

As a Silverstar now, Princess Davina's perceptions surpassed her pre-Rex state. She could detect energy fluctuations from afar. Still, this emanation registered... empty to her.

Her awareness glanced harmlessly past it.

The close Black Rift remained still, suggesting the event served sight alone.

A mere visual trick.

At the center, a flawless circle of thicker vapor expanded gradually in steady pulses. It followed the measured breaths of an immensely potent being. Compelled by fearful intrigue, Princess Davina rose higher until the mists dispersed.

And amid it all, in lotus pose at the core, sat one lone form.

"Rex...?" She croaked the name, disbelief raw in her voice.

Kei Xun's foretelling proved accurate. Her destined partner hailed from beyond this world, wielding talents eclipsing all known in this domain. Witnessing it personally, however, stirred an entirely new emotion.

She understood now that Rex ruled as an emperor and a werewolf back in the Mortal Realm.

This revelation deepened her bond with him.

Still, confronting his skills and might, she sensed untapped depths within.

Peeling back one facet of Rex always revealed another layer beneath.

Rex embodied a puzzle defying full comprehension.

'I wonder... Do his partners in the Mortal Realm share this sentiment?' Her mind wandered thoughtfully.

Princess Davina felt confident they experienced identical bewilderment.

Matching Rex's enigmas proved overwhelmingly challenging.

She observed Rex's face twisted in strain, eyes darting wildly under closed lids. From the swelling visual aura, she inferred he cultivated a power source apart from Spirit Realm origins.

Yet, signs of agony and fear marked him.

This stirred concern in Princess Davina, drawing her nearer.

Shortly after.

Rex's lids trembled before parting. His sight blurred momentarily. A few blinks cleared it, fixing on the starry canopy above. Night had returned. Evidently, his immersion in training and nightmares had devoured the daylight unnoticed.

"How many of those nightmares hit me?" He pondered silently.

At the start, he'd tracked them in his head to gauge each's duration.

But midway, the tally of terrors and suffering slipped his mind.

He knew for sure he'd withstood no fewer than a thousand unique nightmares. Each delved precisely into varied aspects of his mind, unearthing richer sources of rage. As he moved to stand, his eyes caught her: Princess Davina perched in crossed legs nearby, lost in quiet contemplation.

In contrast to him, shrouded by the Black Rift's gloom, she shone vividly.

Her form glowed entirely, as if forged from celestial lights.

Feeling his return to awareness, Princess Davina lifted her gaze to meet his.

She offered a gentle smile, "Done for now?"

"Yes, for the night. Though I must repair those Soul Artifacts' fractures," Rex replied with a nod. Yesterday's leisure had passed, but drive resurfaced, urging him toward further gains. "The road ahead remains lengthy."

Princess Davina turned her eyes away.

A shadow of melancholy crossed her features, spurring Rex to probe her thoughts. "What's on your mind?" He inquired, sensing unspoken words. "Feel free to share anything with me."

"What follows this point?" She posed gravely. "You've rescued your ally. What's the next step?"

"I'm anticipating their approach, plus updates from a Gatekeeper called Dorn," Rex shared honestly. He viewed her query as simple interest, seeing no reason to conceal after recent events. "If you're concerned I'm withholding, rest assured I'm not."

"You're misreading me yet again," Princess Davina denied with a head shake.

Rex excelled in battles for survival, yet faltered elsewhere entirely.

"When do you plan to return home?" She questioned following a weighted silence. "Back to the Mortal Realm."

Only then did Rex grasp her true concern.

"Quite soon," He responded. "Should plans unfold smoothly, I'll depart once Dorn provides what I seek. My arrival stemmed from pressing matters, so I'll exit upon completing my tasks. Duties await me in the Mortal Realm."

"I understand," Princess Davina dropped her stare.

Silence enveloped her. Perhaps a pout.

Given her nature, though, it reflected true sorrow.

"Listen..." Rex ventured once more. "When departure nears, could I just... slip away?"

Princess Davina faced him, locking eyes with Rex. Her mouth hung ajar, stunned by his words. "No way," She refused firmly, shaking her head. "You can't dodge the hard goodbye? Absolutely not. Leaving without farewell means I'll resent you eternally."
