Apollo faces the wrath of Francesca and Tamara after leaving without permission. He explains his actions were to protect his friends, but Francesca reminds him of the consequences of war and their preference for fighting together. Later, King Sigismund is interrupted during a medical checkup by a determined Francesca and a suspicious Tamara, who are shocked to discover they haven't aged in forty years.

Sigismund looked at Tamara for a moment before just sighing. He remembered what she was like and he knew bringing up any form of defence would just fuel her rage and to be honest? Forty years wasn’t enough time to deal with that again.

"So, what can I do for you two? I assume there is a reason you wanted to talk to me. By the way, where is Sigfried? I was surprised to hear he didn’t attempt to join in this war. He loved a good fight."

Tamara visibly flinched, surprising Sigismund for a moment before Francesca took Tamara by the hand for support.

"Brother is currently on our shit list. Actually it’s one of the reasons I have come to you. He has been acting strange since we lost all that time. But I am not asking you to talk to him or anything like that, because let us face it, you two didn’t exactly see eye to eye back then, never mind now that you are the King. No, I want to know since you know Tamara and I if we can join up with your retinue for a time after this war. If that’s no burden to you?"

Sigismund raised his hand. "Hold up, roll back. Sigfried is on Tamara’s shit list? But aren’t you..." He turned his attention to Tamara and stopped his train of thought as the woman’s shoulders were heaving up and down quite noticeably

"Stop. Speaking. Now." Her tone threatened violence.

If anyone else was to threaten Sigismund like this, he would kill them, but Tamara... Sigismund could still remember when he was younger. The trauma...

’Scary Woman.’

Fortunately the one holding the leash cut in. "Bro was acting a cunt. He basically told Tamara to her face that he didn’t even like her. So I don’t think it is a good idea to go back to the college after we are done here and as you might remember, we aren’t exactly documented legally since... That mission.

Sigismund rubbed his stubble in thought. First getting over the shock of forty year old drama and second about the proposition Francesca just made.

Tamara and Francesca aren’t the most powerful of individuals. Tamara is a wrecking ball, but not the brightest and Francesca was a valuable healer, but not in the league of Hugo...

’Though she was back then...’

"Hmm~" He hummed. They weren’t Olympus agents, but that could actually benefit him. Two individuals declared dead decades ago, back and not in Dickon’s grasp at all. The pros heavily outweighed the cons and they could be taught what they needed to know on the job.

"Very well. For old times sake. Although saying this for one of you is a stretch, you were both my friends and I don’t have many of those these days. I will be glad of your company once more."

"Pfft. Bet you would, perv..." Tamara declared, promptly receiving an elbow to the ribs for her lip, which she didn’t even grunt at, just replied to Francesca.

"What? Franny, he was! You saw how he used to look at us! How he used to act when-"

"Tammy. Apollo before the hunt." Francesca simply stated. The words forced Tamara to reply.

"Thats Different! Apollo only looked like one. He wasn’t in the end I just thought he- Oh..." Tamara’s face proceeded to go through a myriad of emotions like her world just came crashing down.

She then looked up at Sigismund, then at Francesca. "So you are saying that he isn’t? He just looks like one?"

"Yes."

"..."

"Are you sure?" Tamara looked Sigismund up and down with a disbelief that actually stung Sigismund slightly.

Francesca nodded. "Well, yeah. Especially now. Remember, he is the military king, he doesn’t even have a D-

"-Ladies... Are we done here?" Sigismund said, his voice gaining a little edge.

"Yes, your grace. Sorry." Francesca said with a slight bow.

Sigismund nodded. "Good. Now, I’ll let you stay with your current unit for now until the war’s end, which shouldn’t be a couple of days. Now leave, I need to finish my check-up and get back in my armour. I’ve been idle too long."

Sigismund watched as the two left for a moment. He hadn’t expected that interaction, but we welcomed it wholeheartedly. He felt younger just speaking to the two of them. Not that he had aged physically in the past two decades, but still.

He was also curious about the fact that they had also had interaction with Apollo. That gave him an idea considering they just applied to be in his service, but he could think more on that later, after he killed every last Drakoshi left on this world of his empire.

...

Another day passed at the fort and I was meditating. I was currently out of my Mindspace in the Psionic plane, training my Plane walking. Honestly, I hated it as it literally was just cultivation. I could only do it while focusing deeply on it. But I had to admit, it was a really useful power.

I hadn’t had much time the last few months to properly enter the Psionic plane as my mind had always been turbulent with the war. But knowing Sigismund was here and a whole squad of Praetorians. The war was all but won. I finally had a moment to relax.

An hour later, a wave of emotion burst out of me and left the surroundings turbulent with my annoyance. "Right! That’s it! if I do anymore I will commit atrocities. Fuck me this is so boring. How do people do it?"

I then looked over at my Mindspace in the distance and was about to fly back since I had more than had enough, but something interesting suddenly occurred.

My annoyed wave suddenly bounced against something. Causing a shimmer to go across a dome like structure in the distance. Then another dome, and another. Three domes.

They swiftly vanished after the emotions dissipated.

I looked around curiously after that. Right now I was practically invisible. Not just because of the plane walking, but because of the war. The Psionic plane in the distance was turbulent. If I focused on a direction for long I could feel wrath and pain. Rage and death. And knowing the Drakoshi don’t have Psionic entities, I was honestly as safe as I could be.

I decided to risk it and floated over to the closest one I saw, though all three were pretty close. As I got closer, the dome revealed itself to me and I suddenly understood what it was, though I had guessed.

It was a Mindspace.

Though it was unlike any Mindspace I had ever seen before though. Mine was composed of a series of hexagonal patterns on the outside. The defence was thick, secure. Made to concentrate defence instead of risking the integrity of the whole space.

This though. It was green. Just green and fuzzy like moss and yet as I approached it , the moss turned into a series of brambles upon closer proximity. Each thorn turned and pointed towards me as I moved and as I floated back. Once I retreated a certain distance the Mindspace then returned to moss instantly.

"How peculiar." I muttered, scratching my avatar’s chin. I hadn’t felt threatened by the thorns, more they were cautious of my presence. Deterring me from trying anything rather than acting as a defence.

Respecting the Mindspace’s wish, I decided to fly over to the next one. Approaching the next one, I suddenly stopped. Danger overwhelmed me. The second I stopped the dome revealed itself. Black. Pure void black.

It was like real space had ripped a chunk of itself and threw it into the Psionic plane.

"Nope."

I raised my arms and just backed away. I wasn’t fucking with that thing. Just being this close to it was more than enough for me as I felt more vulnerable than a twink in a prison shower.

I then swiftly flew away from that thing and made my way to the third one. Like the first I noticed it was fuzzy and green. Though a few shades lighter. I approached the mossy Mindspace and reached out towards it, expecting the brambles and thorns to emerge, only for that not to occur.

Surprised by this revelation, I got closer. Reaching my hand towards the Moss, stopping just before making contact. I then observed with great fascination as the moss proceeded to fluff itself up, like it wanted to be touched.

’How peculiar. I’ve never seen anything like this. Jewel never mentioned anything like this either. Her Mindspace is like mine... Only infinitely larger and far more complex. But it follows the same core concept that I have.’

As I lost myself in my observation. I began to think about trying out my brain burster teachings and try to have a sneak peak at what was on the other side of the barrier, but before I could, something utterly baffling happened.

Tentacles, tentacles everywhere.

Tentacles of moss suddenly began thwapping out before I could react, hundreds of them. They began to wrap around my avatar in the dozens, hundreds and before I could commit to a counter attack, I was sucked in!
