Ethan, a teacher at the Tower of Silence, discusses Sage Orrun's unfinished magic project with a student. Later, a young elf named Sylvia arrives to deliver supplies to Orrun. Ethan, busy with his own work, suggests she deliver them herself. Sylvia finds Orrun's research room unusually quiet but hears him conversing with someone. When she enters, she discovers Orrun speaking with a handsome young man named Nolan, who seems to recognize her.

"Kid, allow me to introduce you—this girl is a direct disciple of one of the Seven Great Sages, the revered Great Sage Morecle," Orrun declared with a wide grin. "Her name is Sylvia. Oh, and to add, she's an elf."

He then gestured towards Nolan. "And Sylvia, that somewhat bothersome fellow over there is Nolan Lorian. He…"

Orrun paused momentarily, as if searching for fitting words, then continued in a nonchalant manner. "He is a friend of mine. Ah, yes! The 'Lorian' in his name is not a surname belonging to the imperial family of the Great Velmora Empire. This kid mentioned he was part of the imperial family, but I know he's fibbing."

A faint chuckle escaped his lips.

Nolan merely rolled his eyes at the absurdity. He did hail from an imperial family—but not in this current era. Rather, he belonged to the future.

However, he found himself too disinclined to elaborate and simply chose to disregard the comment.

Nolan closed the book he was holding, placed it on the table, and proceeded to walk towards Sylvia.

Startled, Sylvia instinctively took a step back.

Nolan halted before her. The young girl was so petite that he had to bend down to meet her gaze at eye level.

"My name is Nolan. It is a pleasure to meet you, Sylvia."

Meeting his gentle eyes, Sylvia's cheeks flushed. Nolan possessed an extraordinary handsomeness—even by elven standards.

His features appeared almost divinely sculpted, as if the gods themselves had meticulously spent eons crafting every detail by hand.

His dark hair paired with striking purple eyes created an unusual yet captivating combination. This was the very first time Sylvia had ever laid eyes on someone so strikingly handsome.

She quickly composed herself and offered a small, courteous bow.

"I-It's nice to meet you too," she replied, striving to maintain a steady voice, though a subtle nervousness still betrayed her.

Nolan observed her for a beat and offered a subtle smile.

'Sylvia, hmm? So she is the future Tower Master,' he mused internally with an amused chuckle.

Now, he finally grasped the reason behind the sense of familiarity he had felt upon first seeing her.

The Sylvia standing before him was indeed the very same Sylvia he had encountered in the future.

The woman who invariably presented a cold and formidable demeanor had once been this endearingly charming when she was young.

Unthinkingly, Nolan reached out and gently pinched her cheek.

Sylvia flinched, her face erupting in crimson at a speed that was readily apparent.

Her small body stiffened, and it seemed as though wisps of smoke were emanating from her head.

It was only then that Nolan comprehended the implication of his action. He glanced down at his hand, the one that had just pinched her cheek, and let out an awkward cough.

"Ahem! My apologies, I did not intend to," he stammered, quickly retracting his hand. "You strongly resemble my little sister."

In his previous existence, such an act would have seen him branded a criminal.

"I-It's quite alright," Sylvia whispered, averting her gaze.

Orrun observed their interaction with quiet contemplation. Whether it was his perception or reality, he sensed an unusual connection between Nolan and Sylvia.

It was evident in the way he regarded the young girl.

"Speaking of which," Orrun commented, casting a glance outside as the sky began to darken, "you haven't partaken in a meal yet, have you? Might I offer to treat you?"

Nolan showed surprise. He turned to look outside, realizing that a full five hours had elapsed since he and Orrun had collaborated to devise the Two-World Teleportation spell.

"Certainly." Nolan nodded without hesitation. "However, my pockets are quite empty, so you'll be responsible for me for the next few days, understood?"

He offered Orrun a playfully mischievous look.

Orrun responded with an eye-roll but did not decline. Finances were hardly a concern for him. Not just for a few days—he could readily support them for an entire year.

After all, he was one of the esteemed Seven Great Sages, possessing wealth beyond measure.

"Ah, yes!" Orrun turned his attention back to Sylvia. "Have you consumed dinner yet, young one? Would you care to join us for a meal?"

Sylvia appeared taken aback by the invitation. She rapidly shook her head. "N-No, Great Sage Orrun. I have already dined."

But abruptly…

Krrk!

A distinct rumbling sound emanated from her stomach, plunging the atmosphere into sudden silence.

The young girl's face flushed, and she hastily lowered her head, mortified.

Orrun let out a hearty laugh and turned around.

"Let us proceed. I shall treat both of you!" he declared with evident enthusiasm.

Nolan simply offered a gentle smile and extended his hand towards Sylvia.

"Come along."

Sylvia lifted her head, her gaze lingering hesitantly on his offered hand. Yet, in the ensuing moment, she mustered her courage and placed her small hand into his.

Three days hence…

"Hah… Hah… Hah…"

Evalyn was panting, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Her complexion was pale, though a distinct glimmer of joy was visible on her features.

"Well done, Evalyn."

A tender voice sounded from behind her.

Evalyn turned and caught sight of a handsome man approaching her, a smile gracing his lips.

"Thank you, Ancestor," Evalyn replied, her smile radiant.

Rei drew nearer and presented her with a glass of ice-cold water.

Evalyn accepted it and downed its contents in a single, swift gulp.

"Phew! That's so refreshing!" she exhaled, wiping the sweat from her forehead.

"You've improved tremendously," Rei said with admiration. "No wonder you'll be the only one to inherit the Divine Sword of Luminus in the future."

"You're praising me too much, Ancestor." Evalyn shook her head, trying to remain humble. "It's all thanks to your help and guidance. Otherwise, I wouldn't have come this far."

What she said wasn't empty flattery. Rei had indeed guided her through every mistake she made.

In just three days, she managed to correct her flaws and master her ancestor's fighting style.

It could be said that this was the greatest achievement Evalyn had ever attained.

Of course, she knew it wasn't solely due to her talent. The training Nolan had put her through earlier had also played a huge role.

Because her body had been trained without relying on a power center, it had become much lighter—almost as if she weighed nothing at all.

"Pffft! Even if I helped, it all comes down to you in the end." Rei chuckled. Then he changed the subject. "By the way, Evalyn. Lucas will be here soon. Can you help me?"

"Lucas? The Hero of Darkness?" Evalyn's eyes widened.

That ancestor of the Asbourne family was quite mysterious. There weren't many historical records about him—there were even fewer records about Lucas than there were about Rei.

However, Evalyn had heard from her father that Lucas Asbourne's personality and appearance closely resembled Nathan's.

Of course, no one knew whether that was true or not. Evalyn had never even seen a portrait of him.

But since her father had said so, it was probably true.

"I see…" Evalyn put on a serious expression. "What kind of help do you want me to provide?"

Rei looked deeply into Evalyn's eyes and explained, "His visit is for two reasons. First, he wants to check on my condition. You may not know this, but Lucas actually hates me quite a bit. How should I put it…?"

He scratched the back of his head. "Maybe it's because of a love rivalry?"

Evalyn smiled knowingly. She knew about that already. After all, the rivalry between the Hero of Light and the Hero of Darkness over Princess Roseline's heart was widely known.

It was also the main cause of the conflict between the two families later on.

"The second reason," Rei continued in a heavy tone, "is that he's here under His Majesty's orders. It's likely related to the attack on the Demon Emperor's fortress."

Hearing that, Evalyn's expression turned pale.

"The… Demon Emperor's fortress?"
