Elina confronts Aldric, who is fighting for the enemy. She realizes he is not himself and suspects he is being controlled. Corvin appears, revealing the rebellion is a front for the Holy Valtanir Empire and that he killed those who refused to join. He rants about the nobles' cruelty, but Elina calls out his hypocrisy. As Corvin prepares to attack Elina, Aldric suddenly stabs him from behind.

"Y-You…"

Corvin's eyes widened as he felt the sword pierce his body.

"Why did you… do that…!?"

Aldric, standing behind him, didn't even bat an eye. He pulled his sword out of Corvin's stomach, making him groan in pain.

"Argh!"

Corvin collapsed to the ground.

Before he could even get back up, Aldric kicked him in the shoulder, sending him tumbling onto his back.

The confidence that had once filled Corvin's face was gone, replaced by a deathly pale expression.

He stared at Aldric, who stood beside him with his right eye closed and blood covering the area around it.

"How… is this possible!?" he growled angrily.

Aldric smiled faintly.

"I have to thank you for that arrow. If it weren't for it, the magic binding me would never have been broken."

"An arrow?" Corvin muttered in surprise.

His gaze shifted to the wound on Aldric's right eye, and he finally understood.

But Aldric wasted no more time. He raised his greatsword high.

"W-Wait—!"

Slash!

The blade sliced through Corvin's neck, severing his head in an instant. It rolled to the side, his face still frozen in disbelief and fear.

Until his very last moment, Corvin had never imagined he'd meet such an unexpected end.

Aldric swung his sword to the side, and the blood on its blade vanished in an instant.

He then pointed his sword at Elina.

"Come on, step up. Let's finish this fight!" he said coldly.

Elina was stunned by his words.

"W-What are you saying? You still want to fight!?" she demanded angrily.

She wasn't sure whether Aldric had finally come to his senses, but it certainly seemed that way.

Aldric clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"You talk too much, Elina. I'm sick of it!"

He crouched slightly before lunging at her.

Elina quickly raised her sword to block his attack.

Clang!

Their swords clashed, and the impact sent Elina flying backward.

She spun through the air before managing to regain her balance, but Aldric didn't give her a chance to rest.

He charged at her again, bringing his massive sword down from above.

Boom!

Elina managed to dodge, but the impact split the ground where she'd been standing, leaving a crack ten centimeters deep.

Aldric immediately went after her, and the two continued their fierce battle.

…

Forty meters away, Arkam and Freya were locked in another fierce battle.

Clang!

Their swords clashed, and neither was willing to back down as they pushed against each other with all their strength.

Arkam took a few steps back before regaining his balance.

Freya, on the other hand, only took two steps back before quickly returning to her fighting stance.

"Just as expected of the Lion of the Great Velmora Empire. Your strength is truly extraordinary," Arkam praised with a broad smile. "Even though you're a woman, your physical strength is almost on par with mine. That's impressive."

Freya simply smiled at his praise.

"Are you trying to buy time because you're exhausted?"

Her words wiped the smile off Arkam's face.

His expression gradually turned grim and menacing.

"Don't let my praise go to your head. Don't think you're better than me. You're not stronger than I am!"

Whoosh!

He dashed toward Freya, raising his sword high above his head.

Freya didn't move. She simply stood her ground, watching his every move.

"Die!"

Arkam lunged at her, raising his sword to strike. But Freya was faster.

She kicked his right leg, throwing him off balance.

"W-What…!?"

Thud!

Arkam hit the ground hard.

Freya quickly pinned him down with her knee pressed against his chest, then drove her sword through his right wrist.

"Argh!" Arkam screamed in pain.

But Freya didn't stop. She pushed her sword deeper until it pierced the bone.

"Argh! It hurts! Argh!"

Arkam screamed like a madman as he tried to push Freya away, but it was no use. Her knee stayed firmly pressed against his chest, keeping him pinned to the ground.

Freya nodded in satisfaction as she saw her sword pierce Arkam's wrist and sink into the ground beneath it.

With his right hand pinned down, he wouldn't be able to use it to attack her.

Freya crossed her arms over her chest and glared down at the man beneath her.

"Tell me, what was your real purpose in suddenly attacking the southern region? How did your forty thousand troops manage to break through our defenses so efficiently? And who's the mastermind behind all this!?"

Arkam gasped for breath, enduring the excruciating pain.

But when he heard her questions, he actually let out a mocking laugh.

"Do you really think I'm going to tell you? Hahaha! No way!"

He spat in Freya's face.

Freya wiped the spit away, then smiled.

"Fine."

She stood up and stomped on Arkam's chest with her left foot.

"Since you're so sure I can't do anything to you, I'll just have to prove you wrong."

Arkam's confident expression immediately changed.

"W-What are you going to do!?" he asked in a panic.

Freya didn't answer. Instead, she reached down and grabbed Arkam's sword, a wide grin spreading across her face.

"You'll find out soon enough."

Arkam's eyes widened.

"W-Wait—!"

Slash!

Freya's sword sliced through the tendons in his left hand. But she didn't stop there. She severed the tendons in both his legs before stabbing him in both kidneys.

She even slashed the artery on the left side of his neck, continuing to attack his vital organs while carefully making sure he didn't die.

The torture lasted only two minutes, but to Arkam, it felt like years of suffering.

"Enough… I can't take it anymore…" Arkam pleaded, his voice trembling.

After screaming in pain for so long, he could barely get the words out.

Freya finally stopped and pointed the tip of her sword at his nose.

"Tell me. Who sent you? And who's behind all this?" she asked coldly.

There was no way the Holy Empire of Valtanir could have launched such an attack without someone in the southern region helping them from the inside.

Freya already had someone in mind, but she didn't want to accuse anyone without proof.

"Hah… Hah… Hah…"

Arkam gasped for breath. Although the torture had finally stopped, the pain was still unbearable.

After struggling to catch his breath, he finally spoke.

"I'll tell you, but please… let me go."

Freya smiled coldly as she pressed the tip of her sword against his nose. The blade cut into his skin, and a thin stream of blood trickled down.

"You're in no position to negotiate. Tell me now, or you die."

She slowly moved the blade toward his neck.

Feeling the cold steel against his skin, Arkam shuddered.

"I-I'll tell you!" he blurted out in panic. "The Holy Emperor, Prince Adalen, and Duke Malvain are behind all of this!"

Freya's eyes widened. The hand gripping her sword trembled slightly, but she quickly regained her composure and let Arkam explain everything.

A few minutes later, he finished his explanation, and Freya finally understood the full picture.

Her expression darkened as anger welled up inside her.

"Those bastards…" she growled.

"I-I've told you everything! P-Please, let me go!" Arkam begged.

Freya shot him a cold glance before slashing his neck without hesitation.

His head was severed and rolled to the side.

She flicked her sword to shake off the remaining blood.

"Let you go?" she scoffed coldly. "In your dreams."
