The Good for Nothing Seventh Young Lady Chapter 3

Previously on The Good for Nothing Seventh Young Lady...
Shen Yanxiao, the disgrace of the Vermillion Bird clan, lies injured in her bed, victimized by her talented siblings. After being manipulated into a dungeon filled with magical beasts, she narrowly escaped a fatal encounter, awakening to a new identity filled with lingering resentment. While her siblings indulge in their superiority, they underestimate her resilience, unaware of the sharp mind that now resides in a body they deem worthless. Shrouded in their scorn, Shen Yanxiao prepares to reclaim her strength, determined to rewrite her fate and rise beyond the labels imposed upon her.

Drawing from her newly acquired memories, Shen Yanxiao realized that the original owner of this body was the youngest daughter of the Vermillion Bird clan’s current head. Unfortunately, her parents had been targets of an assassination during an excursion when "Shen Yanxiao" was barely a month old. Out of the family of three, she was the sole survivor, spared while still in her infancy.

While the rest of the Vermillion Bird clan treated her with nothing but disdain due to her status as a trash, her grandfather, Shen Feng—the clan’s incumbent head—had provided for her out of respect for his late son’s memory. He ensured she had food, drink, and basic necessities, but his care ended there. Within a prestigious clan, a person who was a trash in both literacy and martial arts was considered utterly worthless; in fact, her very existence was viewed as a stain on the Vermillion Bird clan’s reputation.

She was so insignificant that she lacked the qualifications to even attend the annual clan banquet.

Regarding the current charge of trespassing in the dungeon, it was highly probable that "Shen Yanxiao" would face a brutal punishment, if not death itself.

Had it not been for her father’s lineage, Shen Feng likely would have refused to acknowledge her as his granddaughter at all. It was clear that, as things stood, Shen Yanxiao possessed no backing whatsoever.

“This situation is anything but stable,” Shen Yanxiao mused with a faint smile, sitting down as she evaluated her current environment.

To be a waste without a single patron was truly an abysmal starting point.

“And yet, it cannot be considered a total disaster just yet.” A remarkably magnetic voice suddenly resonated near Shen Yanxiao’s ear.

Shen Yanxiao bolted upright instantly, her eyes warily scanning her surroundings.

Even though this body lacked any physical strength, Shen Yanxiao had been a godly thief in her previous life whose reputation had rattled the entire world. No one’s scent should have been able to evade her senses. However, within this large room, she could not detect the slightest trace of another person.

If that was the case, where was the voice coming from?

“Since you have the nerve to speak, why don't you have the courage to show yourself?” Shen Yanxiao demanded, her eyes narrowing as she searched the room.

“Show myself?” The voice echoed again, tinged with a cold edge.

“Little girl, there is no point in looking for me. I am not elsewhere; I am inside your body.”

Inside her body?

Shen Yanxiao froze in shock.

“I had expected you to remain muddle-headed for the rest of your life, yet I did not anticipate you would suddenly become so sharp. Fate truly toys with mortals. It seems the Heavens intend to grant us both a chance.” The voice, cold as the freezing point, drifted into her ears once more. This time, however, she realized with certainty that the sound did not originate from the room, but rather... from within her own mind!

“Just what kind of human are you?” Shen Yanxiao had managed to accept the reality of her rebirth, but the sudden presence of this voice was a much harder pill to swallow.

“Human? In this world, there is no human who would dare address me as such. They prefer to call me a devil.”

A devil? Shen Yanxiao’s brow furrowed.

“Girl, how about we strike a business deal?”

“What kind of transaction?” Although Shen Yanxiao couldn't identify her counterpart, she understood that this entity claiming to be a devil was indeed residing within her.

“You will help me return to the human world, and in exchange, I will assist you in breaking the seal. This will allow you to claim the power that rightfully belongs to you.”

“A seal?” The more she heard, the more confused Shen Yanxiao became.

“Roll up the sleeve on your right arm.”

Following the instructions, Shen Yanxiao pushed up her sleeve. On the upper portion of her arm, there was a mark the size of a palm where the skin was slightly darker than the rest. She had inspected her new body earlier but had missed this subtle irregularity.

“This is the seal?” Dammit! Just what kind of secrets was this little brat’s body hiding?
