Alec fired a deceptive shot that narrowly missed Ren but struck and knocked out one of his Shinsei Academy teammates with blunt force, showcasing his tactical precision amid the cheers of the crowd. While Ren pondered the chilling maneuver, Alec danced through incoming spells from the remaining opponents. Lucas struggled against the uncoordinated but relentless assaults from two Blade clansmen, Aeron and Kealus, as the Gordon trio—Knight, Brandon, and Arthur—gained the upper hand in their duels through superior spells and augmented strikes. Alec then cast Reverse Gravity to disrupt Ren, drawing his Bone Katana and charging the Shinsei members, propelling himself with flames to evade and counter Kurogane's shield bash.

(Note: In the last Chapter I referred to the vice-captain of Shinsei Academy as Kurogane Oni. That was a mistake on my part. His name is Takeda Shun; Kurogane Oni is actually the name of his bounded spirit, My Apologies.)

By tricking Shun into thinking he was the main foe, Alec managed to slip past and confront Aoyama Kiri and Kagura Yato directly.

Kiri fused with her spirit, enabling her to control winds in a distinctive manner; her spirit, the Whispering Wind Wraith, bestowed expertise in wind control, sound handling, and sharpened senses.

In contrast, Yato stood as the sole mage with an assassin-style spirit in their group, empowering him for brief teleports and summoning shadow-crafted spirit daggers along with various other arms on demand.

Gazing at Alec, he inevitably drew parallels to Knight; the instant Alec showed up in front of them, both launched their strikes together.

Yato charged ahead, crouching down while lifting a shadow dagger overhead, intent on plunging it into Alec’s right side.

Simultaneously, Kiri brought her palms together, and even prior to parting them, Alec detected the rebound from the power she amassed, which could throw him off balance briefly.

Hanging in the air, Alec steadily watched and evaluated their joint attack, quietly noting the effectiveness of their collaboration.

Yet admiration ended there, as Alec acted at last, swinging his blades outward to unleash an X-patterned surge of dark fire that ripped through the atmosphere heading for Kiri.

Concurrently, he spun his body while airborne, a abrupt shift that caused Yato’s eyes to flicker, baffled by how Alec adjusted his position suspended in the sky.

Truthfully, Alec employed his flames to adjust his stance, directing the blaze under his soles like rocket boosters, allowing seamless midair redirection.

Finishing the spin, Alec propelled a kick right at Yato’s skull, delivering a savage downward blow.

Events unfolded with such speed that the spectators and Yato himself struggled to grasp the sequence; meanwhile, Kiri’s wind eruption she prepared shattered before advancing.

Not only did Alec’s paired fiery cuts neutralize it, but they pressed on with diminished force, seeking to overwhelm her, compelling her to summon more spells during her withdrawal to sap the assault’s vigor.

This kept her from nearing or aiding Yato, since Alec purposefully distracted her, viewing Yato as the greater nuisance to eliminate first due to his vexing short-range jumps.

Bang!

At last, the kick connected. Alec’s full force hammered Yato’s head, smashing him down onto the surface.

Upon impact with the arena’s floor, he went unconscious, unable to even try rising.

The kick’s might proved too much, amplified by the velocity slamming his head against the solid terrain, causing Yato to faint right away.

In a seamless turn, Alec rotated once more and touched down.

“Arrgh!”

Right as his boots hit the ground, he noticed a figure already positioned before him — Shun.

The vice-captain, whom he had earlier propelled off using his shield like a launch point, now hurled it sideways at him, seeking to slice Alec with its keen, jagged rim.

Alec simply retreated a step, dodging effortlessly as the shield whizzed past mere inches away, then in a quick follow-up, he lashed his bone katana toward the shield’s right flank, hitting a specific spot.

Clang!

When the edge connected, Shun sensed power ebbing from his limb, his right arm—bound to the shield—flung open wide, exposing his form.

In that instant, Shun’s eyes bulged, allowing Alec to exploit the gap by surging forward at a frightful pace exceeding prior limits, gripping the changdao reversed in his left hand, Alec rammed the pommel into Shun’s throat.

Shun gagged fiercely, struggling for air; although Alec aimed to end it, his psychic awareness caught an incoming threat.

Thus, he chose to spare him, aware Shun posed no immediate danger in his state, and with the same fluid pivot, he whirled to brandish his bone katana the other way, yet he got countered and halted.

Ren’s timely arrival caused this.

After escaping the reversed gravity that pinned him aloft for roughly five seconds, Ren dashed over and swung an ascending cut toward Alec’s rear.

But at the crucial second, Ren witnessed Alec rotate and direct his bone sword at his throat; instantly, Ren redirected his own swing to target disarming instead.

Nevertheless, upon clashing arms, he failed to conceal his growing frustration upon spotting the subtle grin lingering on Alec’s features.

He advanced nearer, mirroring Alec’s prior approach to Shun, but altered the grip by setting his right palm at the katana’s hilt base with left closer to the guard.

Building on the previous action, he jabbed the sword ahead.

[> Low Tier Spell – Black Ashes Body <]

Alec countered with a spell as he stepped right into Ren’s reach; Ren’s blade thrust and embedded in his body, but Ren sensed an oddity right away—despite the stab, it felt like hitting no firm substance.

Puchi!

Next, while fixating on Alec’s smirking visage in fury, Ren caught the distinct noise of steel entering actual meat.

Precisely then, Alec’s form disintegrated into swirling black dust, fading away, and past the dissipating shape, Ren realized the reality—his sword had nicked into Shun’s frame.

Although the injury lacked depth to sideline him, the message rang true: Alec hadn’t treated them as real opponents.

He had toyed with them, acting as if he dominated completely.

“How dare you! Where is your mage’s pride? Fight me head-on instead of running around!” Hoshino Ren yelled, spinning around to catch sight of Alec’s figure reassembling close by from the reforming ashes.

“Hmm.” Alec looked up at him and scowled; Ren’s tone grated on him intensely.

“No problem then. Playtime is over. Titan, come out.” Alec declared, as next to him a vast icy-blue gateway appeared, spacious enough for a massive entity to emerge.

Right away, the ambient air grew intolerably frigid as Titan stepped forth from the rift, manifesting in humanoid shape, encased in comprehensive ice plating, his pale green eyes emitting a soft glow.

Titan’s initial action was a deferential nod to Alec; while northern onlookers recalled Alec’s Ice Golem ownership, witnessing Titan anew after time revealed evident shifts, sensing a profound alteration in him.

That was when they observed him glide a palm over his smooth scalp, shoving it back slightly, and upon lifting, a suspended ice coronet floated inches over his crown.

“All of you — come at me!” Titan boomed, his stare scanning all opposing mages across the field not allied with the War God Mage Team.

Silence gripped the whole audience following his words; the leftover Blade Clan fighters and the three alert Shinsei Academy mages stood dumbfounded by the golem’s bold audacity.

He behaved even more boldly than his summoner.

“If you don’t make your move,” Titan pressed on, “you’d better believe I will make the first one instead.”

Now he didn’t merely declare it; he unleashed his presence, the heavy force blanketing the arena, and all mages there—even War God Mage Team members—shivered with icy dread, recognizing plainly this was an authentic Tier 7 Golem devoid of any trickery.
