The Glorious Evolution Chapter 599: This Was Never a Fair Duel.
Previously on The Glorious Evolution...
Levi swiftly ditched his swinging attempt; instead, he threw the blade at the giant and pissed off rapidly towards his territory after he sensed the immense authority gathering within the giant.
He knew that upon reaching Blazewarden, Dominion owners’ next bestowed gift wasn’t limited to an expansion of their territory and an increase in their authority... they also gained an exclusive Ultimate that they could unleash only within a Dominion!
In this case... it was born out of the Hound’s combined Slaughter and Pride.
The blood of his slaughtered victims formed the giant’s body, while his golden authority held it together and reinforced every part of it!
"Run, boy... let us see which corner of my kingdom dares to shelter you!"
As the Crimson Tyrant’s deep, imperious voice thundered across the Rift, his overwhelming authority pressed even the raging green flames flat against the ground.
They were almost snuffed out by a mere voice!
Levi’s expression turned solemn at the sight.
’Ash... any tips?’
Levi phoned for assistance, understanding that it wasn’t the time for pride when facing a gigantic armored tyrant.
’His Ultimate has constrained his authority in one place... his giant form,’ Ash’Kral shared sternly while gazing at the dried-out blood ocean. ’This means if you don’t do the same, his laws’ authority will crush yours with every attack, even if yours was born under an Origin Seed.’
Levi was left silent at the sound of that.
He understood that there was a strict hierarchy in authority, with the Universe’s Order at its head and responsible for bestowing said authority.
The Origin Seeds held higher authority than Shadowlife Seeds, but this wasn’t a rule that applied across the entire evolutionary ladder.
After all, the authority itself belonged to the universe, and both Origin Seeds and Shadowlife Seeds drew from it based on their closeness to said laws.
Under the same laws, Origin Seeds always won in terms of authority... but when different laws clashed, the deciding factor became which Seed currently had a closer connection to its laws, which depended on its evolution and growth.
In this case, the Hound had used his Ultimate to concentrate all his laws’ authority within a single body, while Levi’s authority remained spread across his territory!
As Ash’Kral said... unless Levi did the same, every clash would end in the Hound’s favor!
’Let’s make a titan, too.’
The instant Levi reached the center of the burning plain, he shaped aetheric energy into a gigantic humanoid construct.
The Hound and Na’thir watched with deep frowns as the raging flames rushed from every corner of Levi’s territory into the armored samurai-like construct!
They poured into its chest and surged through its limbs, packing tighter and tighter within the reinforced frame.
Soon, the sea of fire drained away, exposing vast stretches of barren ground.
The final streams coiled around the giant’s outstretched hand, twisting together into an enormous burning staff... its fingers closed around the weapon just as the last flicker vanished from the plains.
The armored burning giant straightened its back, reaching the Crimson Tyrant’s height and emitting almost the same pressure of authority as him!
"..."
"..."
This sight left both the Hound and Na’thir confused.
If it were just a burning giant, they could understand it, but to constrain its laws’ authority within it like the Tyrant?
That was supposed to be an Ultimate-based manipulation of authority!
Unbeknownst to them, while Shadowlife Seeds could compete in authority when they stood much higher on the evolutionary ladder, Origin Seeds still possessed something they didn’t...
The Hound was permitted by the universe through his Shadowlife Seed to concentrate his authority within the Crimson Tyrant.
Levi needed only an order!
’Hound...’
’I know.’
The Hound’s expression turned murderous as the Crimson Tyrant charged in Levi’s giant’s direction.
He knew that the more questions Levi raised in his master’s mind, the more his master wanted him dead!
The two giants collided in the middle of the Rift, throwing blood, corpses, and green flames across the barren plains as they began exchanging blows without pause!
Levi felt the force of every collision through his construct, forcing him to adjust its defenses while keeping the burning staff moving.
At first, he managed to hold his ground... whenever the Hound broke through a section of his armor, he filled it with fresh Aether and continued fighting.
Their abilities soon left little of the battlefield untouched.
Golden spears pierced his giant and scattered across the ground, while his raging hurricanes engulfed the Crimson Tyrant, boiling the blood that escaped its armor into thick clouds of crimson steam!
Despite their nearly equal authority, Levi gradually lost ground... his repairs grew more frequent, his attacks less effective, and the flames escaping his construct left long burning trails across the plain.
The Hound’s Ultimate brought Slaughter and Pride together through a perfected form.
Its blood body and golden armor supported each other with every movement, allowing him to concentrate on crushing Levi.
Meanwhile, Levi still needed to figure out how to keep his own creation from falling apart.
This situation was the same as the Hound using a perfect Ultimate while Levi was winging it with a self-created technique.
His lack of experience showed itself at once.
’Making it look the same was the easy part...’ He frowned.
The Hound appeared to notice it too... his earlier confusion faded as Levi’s resistance weakened, allowing him to keep pushing him back more and more!
With each push, the Hound’s tree roots kept advancing along the boundary, eating more of Levi’s territory and weakening his authority!
Levi tried altering the distribution of his flames, concentrating more of them around the damaged sections... It helped him withstand the pressure, but left him with fewer chances to threaten the Tyrant.
Continuing like this would only delay his defeat.
As his retreat brought him closer to the Soulleech Maw, Levi turned his attention toward its enormous head and the thousands of mouths surrounding it.
Then he found himself lingering on them while his giant endured another heavy impact.
Ash’Kral had told him to concentrate his authority, and he chose a giant because the Hound stood before him in one, and he copied him.
While it worked in keeping him contained, it wasn’t enough to win.
But Levi was never fighting alone.
He soon sent the Maw a special order, then returned his attention to the battle before another blow could finish his damaged construct.
He gradually redirected the authority concentrated within his giant into the Maw’s mouths... weakening the construct’s defenses to empower the coming attack!
He still needed time.
Unfortunately, buying it became more difficult with each impact... it had gotten so bad that the Hound could see dark gaps through the fractured armor.
’Victory is nigh!’
Na’thir watched the burning giant deteriorate with a sinister smile.
After one final strike, Levi’s giant dropped the staff from its broken fingers, letting it crash to the ground!
Levi’s giant followed it, striking the earth hard enough to raise a wall of shattered rock and burning dust!
Before he could lift its head, the Hound planted an enormous golden foot on its face and pressed it into the crater.
The surviving flames escaped between the Tyrant’s toes, weakening further as cracks spread toward the construct’s neck.
"Like master, like student... all that pride, just to end up under my foot,"
The Hound uttered in ridicule, enjoying the sight of Levi struggling under his foot.
If only he knew the truth that Levi was using a mere Warden-rank Dominion’s authority against a Tier 6, it was doubtful he would feel this proud of his victory.
Well... short-lived victory.
"You seem to have forgotten..."
Levi’s indifferent voice reached the Hound through the breaking armor... the voice of someone who wasn’t on the verge of defeat.
"This was never a fair duel."
Hearing this, the Hound felt his heart skip a beat and then swiftly turned his head toward the Soulleech Maw... remembering its existence.
The sight that met him left him wondering if his eyes were playing a trick on him.
Its gigantic mouth was leaning in his direction while its branches twisted around its jaws, their smaller mouths pointing in the same direction... together, they formed an enormous living cannon that aimed directly at his giant!!
Inside their throats... a mere dot of light appeared, no flames visible.
And yet... this sight chilled the Hound’s soul as he recognized it from the blade that burned through his protection earlier.
Only now, it filled thousands of mouths!
The instant he lifted his foot off Levi’s giant’s head, in an attempt to escape, the Soulleech Maw fired... and so did the rest.
A giant concentrated beam of aetheric green flames was released at once from their jaws, piercing through the Tyrant’s golden armor and vaporizing the blood inside!
A massive hole opened through its stomach, exposing the distant battlefield through a ring of burning gold!
Yet, the Hound barely registered the damage before he realized where the beam was heading.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!"
The beam’s thunder drowned out his despairing scream as it punched through the fractured trunk and blasted out the other side in a shower of burning bark!
Thousands of golden faces twisted within the blaze, their bloody tears boiling against their cheeks as flames erupted from their gaping mouths!
Then... burning leaves rained from the canopy, scattering those agonized faces around the roots while the Tree burned from within!
At once... the Hound’s pained screech resounded across the Rift as the Crimson Tyrant’s form dissolved on its own into particles.
Even the advancing roots retracted rapidly, signifying the collapse of his laws’ authority and the start of his Mature Tree’s death!
Meanwhile, Levi’s battered giant rose from the crater, its green light washing over the Hound’s small figure as he thrashed among the shattered golden armor.
"ARGHHHH!!"
The same flames consuming his Tree crawled across his body and soul, drawing another helpless scream from his throat.
Levi crouched before him, lowering the giant’s face until it filled the Hound’s vision.
A sinister grin spread across its burning features as he listened to the screaming creature who called himself a king struggle to endure another moment.
Then, he spoke to the one listening through him.
"Is this your best effort... Na’thir?"
Levi’s indifferent voice resounded in Na’thir’s ears through the screeches of his loyal dog.
"I think I gave you too much credit."
