Qi Jingyun receives life-saving medicine from Gu Qingheng, incurring a significant debt. Gu Qingheng then sells Qi Jingyun expensive medical supplies on credit to aid his recovery. Gu Qingheng reveals his motivation is to earn money for his pregnant wife, Xinxin. To create a diversion, Gu Qingheng and Dao Xuzi lure the Medicinal Soldiers away, much to Qi Jingyun's concern.

Qi Jingyun's brow furrowed momentarily. However, upon observing Gu Qingheng's composed expression, a sense of relief washed over him. He couldn't help but muse internally about how much simpler everything would be if he possessed such formidable allies.

After swiftly traversing three successive mountain peaks, the quartet finally halted their journey.

"I am on the verge of starvation. If you do not provide sustenance soon, I genuinely fear I will be unable to proceed further," Dao Xuzi lamented, clutching his stomach. "Why did I ever agree to accompany you, you scamp? I miss Xinxin dearly. If she were here, her bag would undoubtedly be filled with food..."

Gu Qingheng scratched his head, a flicker of helplessness in his eyes. Having endured disdain before, he was accustomed to it, yet he felt compelled to placate the elder. "Once we are clear of this place, you may return to find Xinxin." He considered Xinxin's pregnancy, which had already passed the three-month mark. While uncertain if he could return in time for the birth, perhaps having Dao Xuzi present would be beneficial.

"Very well, when I return this time, I shall depart. Otherwise, this old man truly risks perishing from hunger." Dao Xuzi did not decline this time. With Changyangzi and his wife present, he had already concocted the potion to counteract the herbalists' effects; the method of administration was no longer his primary concern. Furthermore, with Xinxin due in a few months, his safe return was paramount.

Qi Jingyun's complexion had turned ashen long ago, his body slick with cold sweat. Enduring prolonged imprisonment and suffering grievous injuries, even with the application of medicinal aid, had not resulted in a miraculous recovery. His perseverance until this point was entirely a testament to his sheer willpower.

Despite Gu Qingheng's previous mockery, the latter couldn't help but acknowledge Qi Jingyun's tenacity. Observing that they were still some distance from the military encampment, Gu Qingheng resolved not to let him falter. He then produced a piece of ginseng and offered it, saying, "Take a bite." Realizing that direct consumption might be unhygienic, he retrieved a dagger, sliced off a substantial portion, and presented it.

As a favored son of destiny, Qi Jingyun possessed a keen eye for rare treasures. He immediately recognized the item as a Hundred-year Ginseng. Gu Qingheng's words, "Take a bite?" prompted him to ponder the elder's immense wealth.

However, this was not the moment to dwell on such matters. He accepted the ginseng and began to chew, recognizing its potent ability to restore vitality.

While undeniably a valuable resource, excessive consumption would prove detrimental.

Ran Lei's eyes narrowed; he found himself increasingly unable to fathom this man.

Gu Qingheng, unperturbed, calmly put away the remaining ginseng.

"Oh, heavens, I am utterly spent!" At that very moment, Ming Guang, with a dramatic flourish, stumbled over and collapsed onto the ground, fanning himself with a leaf. "Those beasts could certainly run fast."

Ran Lei's lips twitched. Surely, no matter how swiftly they fled, it couldn't possibly match this elder's speed, could it? Nevertheless, curiosity piqued, he stood and peered behind them. "Senior, where have they gone? Surely they won't pursue us, will they?"

"How should I know?" Ming Guang shrugged nonchalantly.

Ran Lei was rendered speechless.

"We ought to hasten our departure from these mountains," Gu Qingheng stated, recognizing the validity of Ming Guang's observation. He had indeed outpaced the creatures, and the effects of the medication should have subsided by now, thus negating any relentless pursuit. However, any further delay carried the genuine risk of them being caught.

Unanimously, everyone concurred with his assessment.

At this juncture, Gu Qingheng did not permit Qi Jingyun to manage on his own. Instead, he instructed Ming Guang to carry him. Qi Jingyun offered no protest, his current weakened state precluding any room for pride.
