Gu Qingheng and his companions were warned of danger in the mountains. The man who warned them revealed that the King of Miaojiang was killed by the Flame Sect, who are now searching for the King's Seal. This seal is key to mobilizing hidden forces, and the Flame Sect's leader plans to use it to conquer the world, potentially by instigating wars with surrounding nations.

Gu Qingheng let out a gasp. He had indeed contemplated this possibility and even analyzed its feasibility. However, hearing it now from this young man’s lips, he suddenly felt he had underestimated the Flame Sect, or perhaps, he hadn’t fully grasped Flame’s ambitions.

"Big brother knows quite a lot, huh." Gu Qingheng scrutinized the trio—two men and one woman—again, a sudden realization dawning on him that these three were far from ordinary Miao people.

"The ambition of the Flame Sect has never been hidden," Ran Lei sneered. "Otherwise, our family wouldn’t need to be on the run like this. You all take care."

"Wait." Unexpectedly, Dao Xuzi stepped forward, blocking their departure. "You mentioned Miaojiang was massacred by the Flame Sect. Are they all dead?"

"Old man, what nonsense are you spouting?" Ayang sounded displeased. "Our Miao people are indestructible, aren’t we still alive? One day, we’ll kill Flame."

"Glad to hear not all of them are dead, otherwise I’d be at a loss." Dao Xuzi paid Ayang’s attitude no mind, stroking his beard as he muttered, "Someone owes me a big favor… Oh, right, what’s it called? Hua… Huaka Tribe, yes, that’s the name. The people there aren’t all dead, are they?"

"You’re the one who’s dead," Ayang lost his temper again.

"May I ask, Senior, do you hold a grudge against the Huaka Tribe? To curse them like that?" Ran Lei’s expression darkened.

"No grudge," Dao Xuzi waved his hand. "It’s just that the chief of the Huaka Tribe owes me a significant favor. If he had been killed, wouldn’t I lose out?"

"The chief of the Huaka Tribe?" Ayang and Ran Lei exchanged a significant glance.

"Yes," Dao Xuzi nodded. "What’s his name again? Right, Ran Anong? Or was it Ran Anong? Anyway, Miao names are all rather peculiar."

"May I inquire about this favor?" A glint flashed in Ran Lei’s eyes; his father’s name was Ran Anong.

"That was twenty… twenty-five years ago, I was wandering these mountains and ran into some trouble…" Dao Xuzi smacked his lips.

"What trouble?" Ran Lei felt a surge of excitement.

"I encountered…" Dao Xuzi suddenly gave Ran Lei a blank look. "Why should I tell you? No roasted rabbit to eat, and I’m not saying another word." He turned with his hands behind his back and walked to stand behind Gu Qingheng.

Ran Lei’s face was etched with dark lines. This old man, acting so aloof. Yet, the more he behaved this way, the more curious Ran Lei became. He recalled his parents once instructing his elder brother that if he ever encountered someone possessing a Tiger Bone Token, he must offer them wholehearted assistance if the name Ming Xu was uttered, as a way to repay a debt of gratitude. The favor itself was never detailed by his parents; they simply left that directive. Back then, they stated ten years, but now… hasn’t it been precisely twenty-five years? Could it truly be this old man?

"You’re not making this up, are you?" Ran Lei pouted. "Just empty words…"

"I don’t stoop to your level, kid." Dao Xuzi reached inside his collar and pulled out a black string, from which hung a small white token.

Ran Lei’s eyes immediately lit up. "May I take a look?"

Dao Xuzi didn’t object, simply handing it over. "Don’t break it. I still haven’t claimed my favor from them yet." He had kept it tucked away in his medicine chest and only brought it out specifically when assisting Gu Qingheng this time.
