Diewu, surrounded and gravely injured by bounty hunters from Longyun Villa eager for their reward, vanishes in a puff of black smoke as Re Bai secretly rescues her to a mountain cave. Re Bai reveals Yang Ruxin issued the assassination orders after Diewu harmed her sister, leading to heavy losses for their sect. Song San arrives, berates Diewu as foolish, kicks her into the wall declaring no more chances, and strikes Re Bai when he pleads for her.

"Quit the chit-chat and finish her off fast. Longyun Villa is offering a bounty of one hundred thousand taels of silver. Slay this woman right away so we can grab the reward..."

"Right, let’s charge at her all together."

"That means at least a few thousand taels for each of us..."

Once their boisterous shouts ended, the group lunged forward once more.

Diewu suffered injuries all over her body and could barely hold out any longer. Just as she neared total surrender, a burst of black smoke suddenly billowed up.

When the fumes dispersed, the attackers realized Diewu had disappeared completely.

"Hunt her down now—she’s wounded and couldn’t have fled far." A voice bellowed out.

Thus, they dispersed in all directions to track her.

Meanwhile, Re Bai had carried Diewu to a hidden cave deep in the mountains.

"Re Bai, did the Young Master dispatch you to rescue me?" A spark of hope flickered across Diewu’s face.

Re Bai let out a sigh, making no effort to conceal the truth as he shook his head: "The Young Master has no idea; I came on my own." That previous rescue from the Sun Cult’s Left Protector was just to counterbalance the Cult’s influence. Sparing her back then was purely out of master-servant loyalty. But since then, no one would give a damn if we lived or died.

"You..." Diewu abruptly lifted her gaze.

"We’ve fought side by side before. I couldn’t stand by and watch you perish like this." Re Bai met Diewu’s eyes steadily, "Do you grasp how dire your position is?"

"I..." Diewu’s morale crumbled instantly, "I have no clue. I haven’t crossed anyone in the martial world, so why are hordes suddenly after my life?"

"Sigh," Re Bai sighed deeply, "You’re far too naive. The martial world folk aren’t the issue—you’ve provoked Yang Ruxin."

"Yang Ruxin?" Diewu cried out in shock, "She..."

"She’s the one who issued all these kill orders." Re Bai fixed his gaze on Diewu, "By harming her sister, you crossed her unbreakable taboo. It’s not only you now; our Sect is dragged in too. Multiple branches lie in ruins, with heavy losses among our ranks..."

"She..." Diewu’s eyes bulged in utter disbelief, "How does she wield such influence?"

"Heh," a chilling scoff echoed abruptly as Song San entered, "Did you assume she was merely some pushover village girl?"

"Y-Young Master..." Diewu dropped to her knees in haste.

Re Bai jolted in surprise and knelt swiftly as well. He’d sneaked off to save her, and getting caught meant certain punishment. Still, regret didn’t touch him—this was the woman he harbored feelings for, affections forever unspoken and unrequited.

"You’ve truly asked for this mess." Song San’s voice dripped with animosity, "I never imagined you could be this idiotic." He hadn’t foreseen Yang Ruxin’s ruthless pursuit either.

"Young Master, I’ve erred greatly. Young Master, please spare Diewu..." Diewu scrambled forward on her knees, clutching the edge of Song San’s robe, "I swear I’ll never repeat it."

Yet in the very next instant, a kick sent her hurtling through the air.

Diewu crashed against the stone wall before crumpling to the ground, coughing up fresh blood.

"I cautioned you before, but my words went in one ear and out the other." Song San retracted his foot with composure, "Chances are gone for good now."

"Young Master..." Diewu struggled to rise, only to find her inner wounds too grave, leaving her utterly helpless.

"Young Master." Re Bai couldn’t stand idly by.

But the moment his lips parted, a sharp gust of wind slammed into him, toppling him flat.
