James, Clara, and Alex approached the Scorpion Clan mansion to reclaim their stolen supplies. Guards and clan members mocked and shoved them, leading Alex to punch James, framing the clan for the attack. Alex then obliterated a guard with a single devastating strike, smashing through the gates, and demanded hefty compensation for his 'injured' friend.

Hush.

Absolute hush.

Twisted iron gates groaned while mangled metal gradually settled down.

Nobody stirred.

Nobody uttered a word.

Members of the Scorpion Clan gaped at the crater punched into the mansion's wall.

At the mangled corpse lodged inside it.

Major clans within the Tower of Ascension weren't forces to underestimate.

True titans.

Groups that conquered numerous levels.

Ruled vast lands.

Held sway over riches and power through various challenges.

Certain ones enjoyed support from gods residing in the Tower.

Celestial entities offering boons, relics, and safeguards.

The Scorpion Clan ranked among such famed powers.

A name that made folks hesitate before challenging.

Yet—

Alex brushed dust from his sleeve nonchalantly.

"Damn it."

"I used too much power."

"And now the walls of my mansion are damaged."

His words jolted everyone from their stupor.

Fury surged across the Scorpion Clan members' faces.

Weapons flashed out in an instant.

Swords.

Polearms.

All sorts of armaments one could think of.

Clara seized Alex’s hand in panic.

"Let’s run!"

"There are too many of them!"

James remained stunned on the floor.

Alex regarded her with composure.

"Don’t worry."

"Today I’ll show you how to properly rob someone."

"Just watch and learn."

Clara gawked at him in shock.

’This guy is insane.’

Scorpion Clan members encircled them.

Over a hundred, no doubt.

Overflowing the yard.

Alex popped his knuckles.

The crack rang out sharply.

"What are you guys waiting for?"

"You have at least a hundred people."

"And I’m alone."

"Don’t tell me you’re afraid."

One bellowed fiercely.

"You will pay for this with your life!"

They all rushed forward together.

Weapons aglow.

Varied energies gathered around their forms.

They leaped as one.

Alex grinned.

Gently.

And spoke one word.

"Reality Shift."

A see-through panel appeared in front of him.

Hovering.

Icy.

Mechanical.

In the instant after—

Darkness cloaked the heavens.

An enormous dark sun emerged over the estate.

Not blazing.

Not radiating.

But devouring.

All grew dim.

Light warped bizarrely.

Shadows stretched long over the earth.

Scorpion Clan members halted in their assault.

Agony.

Overwhelming agony.

Cracks appeared on their bodies.

Fine fissures raced over their flesh like splits in crystal.

They struggled to advance—

Impossible.

Reality seemed to cast them out.

The universe deemed them unworthy of existence.

Terror beyond imagination seized their souls.

Breaths turned ragged.

Beneath that ebony sun—

Like facing death incarnate overhead.

Alex lifted his hand a bit.

"Collapse."

The command reverberated like divine law.

Existence complied.

Sequentially—

Their forms disintegrated.

Not bursting.

Not ripped.

They fractured like flawed mirrors.

Shards breaking off.

Chunks tumbling down like fractured images.

Moments later—

The yard lay deserted.

Merely shards lingered.

Resembling splintered glass strewn on rock.

None remained upright against him.

Clara dropped to her knees.

Her gaze fixed on Lucifer.

As though beholding a forbidden spectacle.

James gazed in dread.

The atmosphere grew oppressive.

The dark sun lingered overhead.

Soon—

The heavens cleared once more.

Alex pivoted to Clara with a bright smile.

"See?"

"I didn’t resort to violence at all."

-------------

Clara and James remained rooted in place.

Silence blanketed the courtyard.

Shards from former Scorpion Clan members sparkled dimly on the ground, akin to fractured glass in faint glow.

Clara breathed raggedly.

Her hands shook.

James gradually rose from the dirt, cleaning blood off his mouth.

Alex brushed his shoulders offhandedly.

"You guys stay here."

"I’m going to bring back our supplies."

"Without violence."

"Don’t worry."

James managed only a nod.

Clara hadn't yet grasped the horror she'd beheld.

Alex advanced past the ruined gates.

Shards snapped under his footwear.

Every footfall yielded a crisp, glassy noise.

Crunch.

Crunch.

Crunch.

The noise resounded oddly in the still yard.

Clara regained speech at last.

She clutched James’ arm firmly.

"That guy is clearly trouble."

"James... should we run?"

James looked into her eyes.

He gulped deeply.

Yet despite his puffed jaw—

His eyes gleamed.

Vivid.

Intense.

Clara nudged him lightly.

"James!"

"Are you even listening?"

He blinked.

"I can hear you fine."

"Don’t worry."

"It’s just..."

Clara scowled.

"Just what?"

A sly grin gradually spread across James’s lips.

“I’m finally spotting a path.”

Clara’s eyebrows knitted together.

“A path to what?”

James’s voice dropped low.

“A path to the peak.”

----------

At the same time—

Alex advanced steadily.

Crossing over debris.

Every fragment crunched faintly under his boots.

Twisted remnants of the iron gates dangled.

Statues in the yard stood chipped and ruined.

The enormous black sun hovered overhead.

Motionless.

Observing.

He arrived at the mansion’s doorway.

Right before entering—

He halted.

Then lifted his gaze slowly.

A grin appeared beneath the skeletal mask.

Upon the mansion’s rooftop—

Two silhouettes lingered.

Staring down at him.

One resembled a young girl of twelve.

Clad completely in black attire.

Her long raven hair cascaded down her back.

Those shadowy eyes held no emotion.

She seemed adorable at first sight.

Nearly delicate.

Yet her emanating aura—

Icy.

Overwhelming.

Unnatural.

Next to her towered a man with golden hair and piercing amber gaze.

Amid the chaos below—

He appeared serene.

Like a tranquil pond undisturbed by breeze.

Alex examined them closely.

‘They remained untouched.’

‘They possess great power.’

Suddenly, the pair swiveled their heads.

Locking eyes with him.

Alex lifted his hand a bit.

“Hey there.”

“I just want my compensation.”

“Mind coming down to discuss it? Without trouble.”

They disappeared.

Vanished.

In that very moment—

A cold shiver raced along Alex’s back.

The dark-haired girl materialized behind him.

A huge scythe appeared gripped in her hands.

Its edge bent in eerie fashion.

Shadowy.

Sinister.

Simultaneously—

Near the blond man—

Numerous shadows emerged from the earth.

Writhing.

Shaping into nightmarish forms.

The soil under Alex’s boots turned to liquid.

A dark puddle gathered.

Ebon tendrils surged up—

Seizing his legs.

His body.

Pulling him down.

Alex stayed composed.

He uttered distinctly.

“Disintegrate.”

The black sun above throbbed.

More intense.

Deeper.

The shadow forms wailed without sound—

Then melted away.

The dark puddle vanished in a flash.

Cracks appeared on the girl’s scythe.

Fine fissures raced over the shadowy edge.

The scythe shook fiercely—

Before exploding into dark motes of light.

The shards floated upward—

Sucked into the black sun.

The girl touched down lightly steps away, weaponless now.

Her face stayed unchanged—

Though her eyes narrowed faintly.

For the first time, the blond man’s serenity cracked.

Astonishment flashed in his amber eyes.

The girl murmured softly.

“Remus... that masked figure is extremely dangerous.”

Remus breathed out steadily.

“Do you think I can’t tell?”

His eyes shifted to the black sun.

“That black sun he summoned...”

“While it hangs in the sky, this zone lacks time, space, shadow, and void.”

“It’s like those elements were banished from existence.”

His jaw clenched a touch.

“And heaven knows what more he erased.”

The girl fixed her gaze on Alex.

“Just what is he... to wield such might?”

A voice replied right behind her.

“Who, me?”

Alex stood there relaxed.

Untouched.

“The name’s Lucifer.”

He cocked his head a little.

“Lucifer Morningstar.”
