The Dragon Lord's Aide Wants to Quit [BL] Chapter 469: Impossible to Hide

A figure resembling a humongous tree reaching toward the sky, coming straight from Wyrmfall, was definitely not the easiest thing to miss.
Even for the beings currently fighting over on Silvara’s grounds.
Combatants on both sides couldn’t help but pause their bitter fighting at the sight, staring in utter disbelief at what was forming in the distant sky.
Unfortunately, the wyverns seemed to realize much faster that something had gone terribly wrong.
One of their remaining leaders suddenly released a desperate, echoing screech, immediately calling for all surviving forces to retreat toward Wyrmfall.
Prince Rowan took in the sight of that glowing, colossal tree and muttered a low curse.
Seeing the remaining wyverns attempting to flee back toward the source of that anomaly was probably the worst possible news.
It didn’t matter that there weren’t nearly as many of them left as when the war first broke out. In his mind, any sort of backup reaching that place couldn’t possibly be good, especially when Riley was supposed to be right in the middle of it.
"Don’t let them escape! Hold the line and cut them down!"
Rowan screamed the command at the top of his lungs before personally lunging forward, grabbing one of the escaping creatures by its wing and violently dragging it back toward the battlefield.
The wyverns beat their wings furiously, desperately attempting to evade the combined forces currently fighting under the banner of the MBE.
But just as several of them managed to take to the air, an overwhelming darkness suddenly washed over the battlefield.
It was like an even larger shadow had completely swallowed what little light remained in the sky.
Everyone instinctively looked up.
And froze.
The underside of a massive golden dragon was gliding directly above them, its colossal body practically spanning the heavens.
A thunderous roar tore through the clouds.
Then the golden dragon descended.
He landed directly in the path of the fleeing wyverns with enough crushing force to send debris exploding outward, clearly hellbent on making sure not a single one managed to escape.
Prince Rowan was completely taken aback.
As someone who had personally monitored Kael’s supposed arrival at Silvara during their staged lockdown, the Elven Prince knew for a fact that the dragon now looming over the battlefield was most definitely Kael Dravaryn.
Light blue flames suddenly erupted.
An entire cluster of wyverns was reduced to ash before a booming voice echoed across the battlefield.
"Prince Rowan!"
Rowan involuntarily flinched, his eyes widening.
"Lord Karion...?"
It was one thing to treat Kael as though they were of relatively similar standing.
Dealing with someone significantly older was another matter entirely, especially when that someone happened to be the former Dragon Lord himself.
But Lord Karion couldn’t care less about formalities right now.
All he wanted was to obliterate these pests and get to his family.
The Dravaryn Patriarch released another commanding roar.
"Take care of the stragglers! Ensure none of these bastards leave this place alive!"
The elf winced beneath the sheer weight of the dragon fear that wasn’t even directed at him.
Still, Rowan immediately nodded and accepted the responsibility without argument.
And with that, the massive golden dragon took to the skies once more, his enormous wings beating down with enough force to scatter everything beneath him before he shot toward Wyrmfall like a beam of pure golden light.

But if the likes of Lord Karion, Prince Rowan, and their respective forces could see that something unusual was happening over at Wyrmfall, then so could everyone else across Eryndra.
That included Orryn, members of the other increasingly anxious races, and most importantly, the other dragons who, despite participating in the fight against the wyverns, couldn’t exactly be labeled as genuine allies.
And with something that unexpected occurring right before their eyes, how could they possibly stay back?
What if they ended up missing the opportunity to shape what their own future would look like?
At that, certain dragons were immediately ordered to head for Wyrmfall, even as Prince Rowan clearly relayed Lord Karion’s instructions for everyone to remain behind and deal with the remaining wyverns.
But at a time when none of them even knew what was transpiring, why would they need to follow every word of a dragon who wasn’t even the current Dragon Lord?
Even Orryn, who’d been close to returning to the children and the Hales in hiding, eventually decided that this was entirely different.
After all, whatever was happening at Wyrmfall had grown far beyond something they could possibly keep hidden.
That enormous formation was practically an announcement to the whole of Eryndra.
So Orryn turned back even when he desperately desired to run toward his child.
Yet while more and more beings began making their way toward Wyrmfall, it wasn’t as though nothing else was happening there.
Because while everyone remained concentrated on the ever-expanding formation threatening to fill the visible skies, there was actually one black dragon whose next conscious moment didn’t particularly feel like waking up at all.
Riley could only internally swear at the number of times he’d gasped for breath today.
Except this time, it probably would’ve been better if he hadn’t inhaled at all.
Because instead of filling his lungs with clean air, the last Iltheran was fairly certain he’d just inhaled a mouthful of thick smoke.
Riley immediately coughed violently, completely unprepared to choke on something that heavy the moment he regained consciousness.
It took a while before the coughing finally subsided enough for the black dragon to force his eyes open.
And if there were any doubts that he wasn’t exactly in the clear and fully awake just yet, then the sight waiting for him certainly answered that question.
Because not too long ago, Riley had been standing before the Wyvern King.
Then he’d experienced the rather horrifying sensation of his entire body seemingly being restructured one molecule at a time.
And now?
Now he was staring at a burning dragon estate that didn’t even resemble the one they’d been living in for quite some time.
Riley remained still for a long moment, taking in the unusual sight before him.
Then he finally realized why everything felt so incredibly wrong.
Because not only was he staring at some unfamiliar version of the estate, he was also undoubtedly surrounded by the forbidden flame.
And if something like that was supposed to hold any significance for the black dragon, then there was really only one person it could possibly be connected to.
His mate.
Kael.
