The Dragon Lord's Aide Wants to Quit [BL] Chapter 447: A Sudden Silence

Feeling as though her heart had suddenly lodged itself in her throat, Rhazira rushed to see exactly what all that commotion was about, practically abandoning everything she’d been occupied with just moments ago.
No.
It couldn’t be.
What could’ve possibly gone wrong with the relic when everything had been progressing so well?
But the moment she entered the throne room and saw the massive figure of her beloved practically slumped where he’d been resting, the Wyvern Queen immediately knew that something truly had gone wrong.
She wasted no time rushing toward him, her attention immediately falling on the relic she’d deliberately kept close to his body to facilitate his continued recovery. Behind her, the other wyverns crowded into the chamber, equally anxious about the sudden development while Rhazira tried to think of anything that could’ve caused such an abrupt change.
Upon initial inspection, however, there didn’t seem to be anything wrong.
Well, aside from the fact that she’d only ever possessed half of the relic to begin with.
Rhazira’s brows furrowed as she stared down at it.
They’d been so close already, so for something to suddenly happen now made absolutely no sense.
Then she touched it.
And froze.
Sure enough, something was really wrong.
That frantic yet strangely reassuring thumping she’d grown so accustomed to feeling whenever she held the relic, the sensation that came from one half desperately being drawn toward the other, was gone.
Her eyes widened as her hand began to tremble.
Because it wasn’t simply that she could no longer feel that familiar pull.
It was as though the connection itself had been severed.
She immediately attempted to trace it, searching for that familiar link that ordinarily would’ve pointed her directly toward the MBE, but no matter how hard she tried, there was simply nothing there anymore.
All this time, she’d memorized that sensation so thoroughly that she’d always been able to reassure herself that if she truly wanted to, she could simply go and take the other half.
After all, it had always been there.
Waiting.
Calling back to the piece she possessed.
The only reason she hadn’t gone after it immediately was because there’d been no need to take such an unnecessary risk. Once everything was prepared and her beloved finally possessed a body capable of tolerating the relic’s full power, he could simply retrieve the remaining half himself.
That had been the reassurance the Wyvern Queen had clung to throughout everything.
As long as she could still feel that other piece somewhere within the MBE, there was nothing to worry about.
But now, she couldn’t feel anything.
Worse, as Rhazira continued examining the relic, she realized that its potency seemed to have been reduced considerably. It could only draw upon whatever power remained stored within the half currently in her possession, and while that would’ve undoubtedly been an unimaginable amount of power for practically anyone else, it was nowhere near enough for her beloved.
Not anymore.
Her King was now the closest living being to that ancient one.
No.
Rhazira’s trembling hand tightened around the relic as she slowly looked toward the enormous figure before her.
He was practically the Primordial Dragon now.
And for a being like that, half of the relic would never be enough.
The distressed woman bit down on her thumb hard enough to draw blood, her increasingly panicked eyes darting around the throne room as an almost crazed look gradually overtook her face. She paced back and forth in front of her beloved, muttering frantically beneath her breath as her thoughts spiraled faster than she could properly keep up with them.
"Where could it have gone? Why can’t I feel it anymore? It was just there! It was right there!"
Terrifying mana began radiating from her in increasingly suffocating waves, causing the surrounding wyverns to instinctively shrink away. Originally, none of them dared make any unnecessary movements, terrified that their Queen was moments away from completely losing control and that whoever happened to be standing closest would become the unfortunate target of her rage.
But seeing her continue to spiral, one particularly brave wyvern eventually worked up the courage to speak.
"M-Maybe it’s because of the ongoing battle in Silvara, Your Majesty? Perhaps that person went to join the war as well, and the relic is simply too far away for us to—"
Before the poor fool could even finish, another wyvern roughly slapped him hard enough to shut him up.
"Shut your mouth! Didn’t you hear the intelligence we received? He stayed behind at the MBE! Only the Dragon Lord and the Elven Prince went to Silvara!"
Rhazira abruptly stopped pacing.
Her bleeding thumb slowly slipped from between her teeth as she straightened, and the frantic look that had overtaken her expression gradually disappeared beneath a sudden, chilling clarity.
Right.
That anomaly had stayed behind.
According to everything they’d received, Riley Hale was still safely tucked away inside the MBE while practically every being of considerable strength had been deployed elsewhere.
"Right," she quietly muttered, her widened eyes remaining strangely unblinking as her mind immediately began turning over everything they knew.
Then the Queen slowly smiled.
"We’ll check for ourselves."
The wyverns around her stiffened.
Rhazira turned toward her generals, and just like that, the panic that had nearly consumed her moments ago transformed into a sinister sort of excitement as a completely different plan began taking shape in her mind.
"In fact, this would be the perfect opportunity for us to visit the MBE ourselves."
Her voice sharpened as she immediately began issuing orders.
"Increase the pressure on Silvara. Send more reinforcements if necessary and make absolutely certain that troublesome Dragon Lord remains occupied. I don’t care how many forces you need to throw at that battlefield, but he cannot be allowed to return."
Her teeth ground together at the mere thought of it.
"We can’t have him stealing that aide of his away again."
Just remembering what had happened at the White Dragon Crypt was enough to make her expression twist with venom.
"As for the rest of our forces, prepare for a siege. If that rat is truly still hiding inside the MBE, then I’ll go there and retrieve him myself."
The wyverns immediately lowered their heads, but Rhazira wasn’t finished.
She turned toward those standing guard around the enormous figure of her beloved, her expression becoming even more severe.
"And while I’m gone, continue preparing your King for the transfer. By the time I return, everything must be ready."
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
The hooded creatures bowed deeply before dispersing in utter haste, none daring to waste even a second after witnessing just how close their Queen had come to losing herself.
Only once the throne room had emptied did Rhazira finally turn back toward her beloved.
The terrifying expression she’d worn moments ago immediately softened.
She approached the enormous figure and gently rested a hand against him, her bloodied fingers barely brushing over his skin as though even the slightest touch needed to be handled with unimaginable care.
"I’ll retrieve it right away," she whispered, leaning closer to him with the same desperate devotion she’d carried for all those years.
Her hand slowly caressed his unmoving form.
"And you’ll be alright again, my love."
