The Divine Urban Physician Chapter 3404: Land of the Ancient Era (Fifth Update)

"Brother Ye Chen, Sister Xue has entered seclusion, and Little Gold insists we stay on guard against enemies. There's nobody to play with, and I'm dying of boredom. Where are you headed? Can you please take me along?"
Xiao Bai hurried toward Ye Chen, grabbing his arm while speaking in a pitiful tone.
"This isn't a trip for fun..."
Ye Chen let out a helpless chuckle and shook his head. He was prepared to tell Xiao Bai to return, but his heart suddenly skipped a beat. He sensed a faint thread of karma clinging to Xiao Bai—one that seemed linked to the ancient battlefield!
"Brother Ye Chen, let me come. I promise I won't be a nuisance," Xiao Bai pleaded, shaking his arm.
Ye Chen’s eyes narrowed as he wondered silently, "Why does Xiao Bai carry karma from the ancient battlefield? This is strange."
Though he couldn't grasp the reason, the fact that she possessed such significant karma suggested that bringing her might be the right choice.
"Fine, I'll take you, but you must stay close and not wander off."
Ye Chen pinched her cheek with a smile.
"Yay! Thank you, Brother Ye Chen!"
Xiao Bai beamed, her face radiating pure happiness.
Ye Chen nodded and immediately grasped her small hand, worried she might run off and cause trouble. He began continuously tearing through the Void to make their way forward.
Before long, Ye Chen, Xiao Bai, the You Ying Ghost Weasel, and Ye Lingtian reached Boundary City.
Guards were stationed at the gates. Given that Ye Chen was the master of Qing Qiuyun, a guest of the Qing Family, and the champion of the Pill Venerate Conference, no guard would dare obstruct him if he revealed himself.
However, Ye Chen had no intention of exposing his location. Once night fell, he triggered the Darkest Divine Vein to blend into the shadows. He silently scaled the city walls and slipped into Boundary City undetected.
"Brother Ye Chen, where are we going?"
Xiao Bai gripped Ye Chen’s hand tightly. Seeing his extreme caution made her feel a mix of intense nervousness and excitement.
"Stay quiet and just follow me."
Ye Chen glanced at her, moving stealthily along a path etched in his memory.
He navigated the entire route without alerting a single soul.
Being back in Boundary City made Ye Chen consider visiting the Qing Family to check on Qing Qiuyun. However, after some thought, he realized that karma had been settled and there was no need to provoke more enmity. He composed himself and led Xiao Bai and the others toward the entrance of the ancient battlefield.
The four of them soon arrived at a desolate, barren mountain.
Located on this mountain was a stone cavern.
They began a continuous descent deep underground through the cave.
The darkness of the night fully enveloped them. The cave was void of any light and deathly quiet, save for the sound of their own breathing and footsteps.
Xiao Bai felt a wave of fear and tension. Her palms began to sweat, and she felt a flicker of regret for coming along.
"Are you frightened?"
Ye Chen laughed softly and summoned a flicker of flame to pierce the gloom.
The firelight danced across Xiao Bai’s face, revealing a pale expression marked by panic and perspiration.
"No, I'm not," Xiao Bai insisted stubbornly.
"Let's keep moving."
Ye Chen offered a small smile and pulled her along as they continued their underground trek.
Eventually, the group reached the bottom, where they were met by a massive stone door adorned with a relief carving.
Looking closer, the relief showed the Samsara Master and Ren Feifan fighting back-to-back against a sea of vicious enemies.
Ye Chen’s heart raced as he felt the Heavenly Mechanism Fitting. This was undoubtedly the entrance to the ancient battlefield. Opening this door would allow them to enter the ruins and search for ancient traces.
"Sir, is the battlefield located behind this door?"
The You Ying Ghost Weasel whispered, his raspy voice sounding particularly eerie in the silent subterranean chamber.
"It is."
Ye Chen gave a slight nod, walked to the stone door, and pressed his palms against it, attempting to shove it open.
The door proved to be incredibly heavy; it didn't move an inch despite his strength.
"Break!"
Ye Chen let out a sharp breath, activating the Destruction Divine Dao. A terrifying black light of destruction erupted from his palms as he tried to force the door open with raw power.
Under the pressure of the Destruction Divine Dao, the door pulsed with a brilliant sealing light, yet it remained firmly shut.
"Sir, allow me to try."
The You Ying Ghost Weasel moved forward, channeling Ghost Fire from his hands and pushing the Law of Corrosion to its limit. Despite the intense corrosive aura, the stone door was unaffected, and the seal continued to glow brightly.
"It's no use. The seal here is far too powerful; it's nearly impossible to pierce."
The You Ying Ghost Weasel shook his head. The seal on the door was exceptionally sturdy and seemed indestructible, making it nearly impossible to breach.
Meanwhile, Ye Lingtian searched the area around the door for a hidden mechanism. He found nothing; the door was sealed tight without any physical lock.
"Hall Master, what is our next move?"
Ye Lingtian’s expression turned grim.
"Let me think."
Ye Chen looked solemn. If even the Destruction Divine Dao couldn't force it, the seal must be incredibly secure—not something that could be overcome with simple violence.
As Ye Chen pondered, a series of sword hums echoed from within the Samsara Graveyard.
The Dust-falling Dragon Subduing Sword was vibrating violently.
Ye Chen’s eyes brightened as he immediately summoned the sword. The blade flashed and flew out on its own, wedging itself into the crack of the door.
Crack!
The door suddenly swung open, bathing the four of them in a gray-black light.
"Brother Ye Chen, it opened!" Xiao Bai cried out happily.
It turned out the Dust-falling Dragon Subduing Sword was the "key" required to unlock the path!
"Let’s go inside and see."
Without hesitation, Ye Chen crossed the threshold of the stone door into the world within. Xiao Bai, the You Ying Ghost Weasel, and Ye Lingtian followed right behind him.
This entrance might have been established by Ren Feifan himself. The ancient battlefield was the place where he nearly died, but also where he transcended life and death to comprehend the Dao.
He likely didn't want the history of this place to be lost to time, so he used special means to preserve the entire site and left an entrance for future generations to find.
As they stepped inside, the stench of blood immediately hit them.
Before them lay a dim, gray world.
The sky was choked with thick, dark clouds.
Crows and vultures circled alone in the sky, their occasional caws breaking the silence. The ground was littered with a dense carpet of countless corpses.
Though eons of time had passed, the bodies were dry but the skeletons remained intact. They had not turned to dust, clearly shielded by some unique power.
The faint metallic scent of blood still lingered in the air.
Upon smelling it, Ye Chen’s mind seemed to drift back to that ancient era of war, filled with the ringing of swords and the explosive power of magic treasures.
He scanned the area: bodies were everywhere, alongside shattered blades and the remains of ruined magic treasures.
It was clear that a brutal war had occurred here, a slaughter of immense proportions.
A profound sense of dread began to stir deep within him.
This place was likely home to great danger!
