Yuehan trains Qingyi in Sword Resonance, demonstrating a powerful combined attack of fire and lightning that Qingyi withstands using his Black Dragon Scales. Afterwards, Qingyi retaliates for the painful training by slapping Yuehan's backside, much to her embarrassment.

With Qingyi's attention finally won over, Yuehan could at last focus on teaching.

"Do you know what earned me the title of Divine Sword Fairy?" she asked, forcing her voice to stay firm while fighting back the blush that insisted on rising to her cheeks.

"All I know is that it has something to do with your sword resonance," Qingyi replied.

Not that he could have known much more.

He came from the Mortal Heavens.

He probably knew less about the legend of the Divine Sword Fairy than any child growing up in the many cities of the Alliance. After all, those children spent their entire childhoods listening to stories about her.

"You're not wrong, but it wasn't simply because my sword resonance was very powerful," Yuehan said, shaking her head slightly.

"In truth, the vast majority of Celestial Emperors—even great sword cultivators like an Azure Blade Emperor—perceive resonance in a way similar to yours."

She raised her hand and lifted two fingers toward the sky.

At the tip of her index finger, a flame appeared—small, but hot enough to make the surrounding air tremble.

At the tip of her middle finger, a bolt of lightning crackled softly, leaving a faint scent of ozone in the air.

Both were shaped like blades—thin and sharp.

For a brief moment, the two blades repelled each other. The flame bent to one side and the lightning sparked to the other, as if each were trying to flee from the other.

Then, finally, they merged.

The flame wrapped around the lightning, and the lightning threaded through the flame, until only a single blade remained, one that burned and crackled at the same time.

"The resonance between two opposites. The perfect harmony between Yin and Yang. A gentle wind whose power surpasses that of a tornado," she explained, watching the small blade of fire and lightning spin slowly between her fingers.

Qingyi nodded slowly, his eyes still fixed on the little blade.

It was quite different from his Heaven-Shattering Divine Slash, for example.

While Yuehan's resonance made the two energies flow as one, his method basically involved taking two types of Qi and smashing them against each other until they had no choice but to merge.

Brute force, pure and simple. But very effective, considering his fighting style.

"If you tried to apply resonance in that traditional way, not only would you gain little, but you'd also become weaker. But…" With a gentle flick of her hand, the blade of fire and lightning broke apart into sparks that died out before they touched the ground.

"Qi resonance, weapon resonance, soul resonance. All of these are already well known, but… what about bodily resonance?" she continued, slowly closing her right hand, as if holding something invisible within it.

"No." Qingyi shook his head, his brow furrowing. "Never heard of it."

There were many types of resonance.

That of a blacksmith with his hammer, that of an alchemist with his ingredients, that of a swordsman with his sword, that of a cultivator with his Qi.

Bodily resonance, however, was something he had never come across.

"Use your dragon eyes to look at my Qi flow and my body," Yuehan instructed.

Qingyi obeyed immediately. An intense purple glow filled his pupils, and the world around him took on layers that ordinary eyes would never perceive.

A moment later, his eyes widened.

Yuehan's Qi was pure, calm as an untouched pool of water. Not a single ripple disturbed it.

That, in and of itself, was nothing surprising. It was common among high-level cultivators, and his own Qi was even more refined than hers.

What truly caught Qingyi's attention was Yuehan's body.

A cultivator, generally speaking, had extreme control over their own body. But that control, more often than not, didn't come anywhere close to the control they had over their Qi.

Because of this, there was always a certain disparity between the two. Almost always insignificant.

It was so common that no one even bothered to notice it.

Yuehan's body, at that moment, was a completely different story.

Under his draconic eyes, her heart beat at a perfect, steady rhythm. Blood flowed through her veins at the exact same cadence. Even the air entering her lungs kept to that rhythm.

Everything flowed like her Qi. Same rhythm, same strength.

It was as if every cell in Yuehan's body were in direct resonance with her own dantian.

But how?

For a moment, Qingyi fell deep in thought. Then something clicked in his mind.

He was studying the Nine Paths of Creation Reversal Art, a supreme cultivation art.

So far, he had reached page fifty, but had truly mastered only thirty.

And much of the last twenty—the parts that still eluded him—spoke precisely of something like this.

A truly perfect synchronization between body, soul, mind, and Qi.

Without wasting any time, Qingyi got to work. The verses flashed through his mind one by one as he began to move his own Qi, slowly, testing it out.

His gaze never left Yuehan the whole time.

She didn't realize what he was doing. Thinking he was merely watching intently, she continued to explain.

"This is bodily resonance. Together with the resonance of the sword, it is the main source of my power," she said, lifting her chin slightly, a hint of pride in her voice.

"The difference is theoretically minuscule, since the bodies of great cultivators are far from normal, but this small difference results in a gigantic increase in power."

Yuehan was about to continue when, suddenly, she froze.

Her eyes locked onto Qingyi. The air around him had changed in an instant, becoming denser, heavier.

No…

It wasn't just the air.

She infused Qi into her own eyes, and what she saw made her lips part involuntarily.

His very body was changing!

Qingyi let out a long, slow breath.

He felt the strength in his muscles swell with every heartbeat, vitality flooding through his body like water through a burst dam.

For a moment, it was as if his power had doubled.

His mind was far clearer than before, and all around him, a soft purple aura emerged, rippling slowly like mist.

"So this is bodily resonance?" he asked, opening and closing his hand, feeling each tendon respond with a precision that hadn't existed before.

The change in his body had seemed so insignificant. But the change in his power and his comprehension was tremendous.

In an instant, he understood those twenty missing pages and felt ready to read all the way to page one hundred.

Qingyi was so absorbed in his own power that he didn't even notice Yuehan staring at him, her lips pressed into a thin line, her eyes full of outrage and disbelief.
